Some of my coworker’s favorite Mexican lunch spot. We continually come back because it’s authentic Mexican food at a cheap price! This place is a grocery store with a food stand near the back of the store. I usually order the pastor burrito or carne asada burrito. Make it a SUPER burrito! If you can finish an entire super burrito, kudos to you because I know I can’t. I usually just eat half and save the other half for later. While you’re inside the store, try to grab a bottle of Mexican coca cola and some nacho/salsa…it really goes well with the burrito! Their lines get long and busy during lunch but they work fast! Expect your order to be ready in about 10 minutes.

Decent burritos. The line to order can be a bit confusing as this is also a mini-mart, but the line for burritos is in the very back. Nothing to complain about, but it’s hard to stand out from other taquerias in Northern California. The pollo en salsa was good, but I might get a bit more adventurous on my next order. No place to eat inside, so grab a seat on the bench across the street.

I’ve been coming here for years and the only thing that has changed here are the prices… And by no means is that a bad thing, just a sign of the times and a perfect example of you get what you pay for aka huge portions! Family owned and staffed, you will be welcomed and helped as you are a guest in their own home. Whatever your heart may desire can be obtained in this one stop shop. From homemade dry goods to meats, chips, tortillas, beans, cheese and rice down to plantains & crema, they’ve gotcha covered in droves… As authentic as it gets and you will be lucky if there isn’t a line. If that’s not a sign of quality and great service I don’t know what is.

My favorite spot for Tamales, burritos, & tacos while I’m in SSF my hometown love the food here while I was growing up and still do. Very busy restaurant store but the workers are used to it and are very fast. You can pick up food to go or shop for your food to cook at home. They have everything you need to cook your traditional Mexican food along with some tasty pastries You can’t go wrong no matter what you get from La Tapatia we love to order our tamales for the holidays here yummy

Amazing! We came in a week before our wedding and ordered a taco bar for 40. There was PLENTY of food– 3 meats(we picked carne asada, carnitas, & pollo asado), rice, beans(whole & refried), tortillas, chips, salsas, guacamole. All the guests loved the dinner– especially the carnitas! They made it all so easy– for a deposit they loaned us the hot box & chafing dishes too. Love that this is a family owned business

I loved the place before even ordering. It just has that feel of a real deal workhorse kitchen. Large vats of pico de gallo, stainless and glass serving station, mixers and trucks out back, fully stocked coolers with just about every Mexican related veggie and support item you could want along with a comprehensive menu for lunch. We got pastor, chili verde and chicken in both burritos and tacos .The regular burrito has just about everything except guac for $ 6-! that is a deal these days. The meats were tasty and freshly sizzled up on the grill before rolling. It’s a cash only joint. This place definitely made the cut. We will be putting them to the test soon, as caterers for a big party for 40 we are hosting. Stay tuned.

They have hot food in the back of the grocery store. Love their fresh squeezed orange juice. Perfect sweetness level. Hubs love their grilled chicken and they load up their burritos. Price went up. Regular burrito is around $ 6 and a dollar or two more for the super.

This place is one of the most popular burrito places in South San Francisco! It’s located inside a Mexican grocery store. I always order the carne asada burrito because you can never go wrong with grilled steak. They always grill the carne asada so it’s nice and hot! Get the super burrito if you want to have guacamole and cheese in there. That’s basically the only difference between a regular and a super. I guess the super might be slightly bigger too. I absolutely recommend you try La Tapatia! On a side note, I noticed that they have corn tortilla for tacos for only $ 0.60 in their grocery store! I have to come back for that.

Its all about the carnitas meat you can order here. Literally the best Ive ever had in about 100 mile radius. Tortilla chips as well, my favorites. The menu for lunch is fresh and packed juicy. Excellent pick if youre in the neighborhood. Carnitas. Get a pound. Make tacos at home. Now you can die.

The people who work their are also nice and friendly! YUM!

Avoid… Came here based on Unilocal reviews. I usually just count the reviews and stars. TOTALLY misleading! Rude guy at the counter and the food quality is poor. Over cooked pork and the chicken and beef were also either old or over cooked. I think any review longer than this is a waste of time.

These are the prices that used to be in the Mission, but it’s hard to get a good super burrito for under $ 7 now. The burritos are huge and will last you the entire day, but I’m here to talk about their hot sauce. Fair warning to those who like things spicy, if you’re not used to intense heat then I would skip the slathering of the hot sauce. They’ll ask if you want some on your burrito and I actually do recommend it cause it’s not that spicy when it blends in. What I don’t recommend is buying and extra container of the stuff and then adding it haphazardly before eat bite unless you are used to heat. I bought a small extra container of it do add just a dash, but my friend decided to help himself and drowned the top of his burrito. I did warn him, but stubborn fool didn’t listen. It was hilarious.

Had to give them 5 stars cos the service is fantastic! Really helpful with my questions and what to order. AND the breakfast burrito was delicious, and was made with care. Everything is home made, their own tortillas, chips, and other yummyness. They sell everything delicious you need to have for a fiesta party. Hot sauce, home made chips, and guacamole, and other chiles, salsa, veggies, and fresh Guac too. Love this little shop. Coming back to try a few other items. BUT warning! it’s Cash Only, and ATM available in the store. :)

What’s not to like about this place? It’s quick, has amazing food, and they have home made tortilla chips. Their super burritos are great. Also has a few groceries if you need something.

lollll — on an adventurous mexican kick with the team while in south sf. decided to drive over to this spot for a quick lunch. not sure why we picked it, but here we go… the store front is quite small and the door is barely ajar. it’s laid out like a small grocery shop with rows of authentic mexican things. cookies, crackers, home made chips, etc. then on the right, there are cases with lots of very meixcan looking foods — tubs of guac, tubs of salsa, tubs of… fried things, ready to eat things, just LOTSOFTHINGS… then you finally come to a counter where you can order burrittos and nachos and lunch. there are about 10 choices of meat, including chicken, steak, pork, and cow stomach… so there are choices. after studying the menu super hard, i decided on the super nachos with carne asada, and my team member, a super burritto. THEYWERESUPERLARGE. both. i think the burrito was bigger… and cheaper… tasted all right. i was expecting a bit better given the mexican feel of this place. but $ 15 for a HUGE lunch for 2 isnt bad :) CASHONLY!!!

I’ve been eating burrito from this place at least once a month since I was a kid. You wouldn’t think this place serves food because it looks like a normal market when you walk in. But head to the back and theres a giant menu overhead. I ALWAYS get the Super Burrito with carne asada with everything on it. One of the best burritos I’ve ever had and will ever have.

Super bomb Mexican food! ^^ this place is pretty small and has a grocery mart in the front of the store. You have to go all the way to the back to the taqueria. WARNING: CASHONLY! The food here is really well priced, and delicious to top it off. I paid $ 7 for a super burrito that I wasn’t even able to finish. x. x the workers are pretty nice too. My one complaint is that they don’t have lengua! other than that, if you’re in the area, i’d definitely recommend.

We’ve been ordering from this place at the office for years now, and it’s been a huge hit for catered lunch. They’re actually pretty far from where we work, which is actually a testament to how much we all like this place. In fact, at times, some of my colleagues rearrange their business travel in order to be in the office for«tamale day». You a place makes good tamales, when it ALTERSGLOBALECONOMICTRADE! With respect to specific dishes, obviously, the tamales are excellent. I’ve always had the chicken varietal though I’m not sure if there are others to choose from. Apart from the tamales, the side dishes are excellent too! From the crunchy and flavorful Chicharróns to the the tender Carnitas, I love them all! What’s more, the guacamole here is on point, and I really like the salsas are excellent. As mentioned in other posts, I love spicy food so having spicier alternatives for salsa is always great. Finally, I love the OG nature of their website: No need for parallax scrolling or any other fancy bells and whistles. Essentially, La Tapatia concentrates on its food rather than its web presence as they should! I assign 5 stars as the next«tamale day» can’t come soon enough!
