It’s a good place to get food before a flight since there’s not too many options at the international terminal. They can get overwhelmed quick with customers. Once you get a seat, it’s relatively quick. Stick with the basics and the food will be fine.

This is one of the most authentic Japanese food here in San Francisco. I’m not sure that it is the American type of delicious Japanese food but it definitely is good enough for me as an Asian.

Pretty good for an airport restaurant. The price is reasonable and the food was good. I ordered the sushi combo which was priced at ~$ 13 and it came with 5 pieces of nigiri and a 6 piece california maki roll. The California roll surprised me, it was pretty good for what it is and its in an airport. The nigiri wasn’t something to write home about but it wasn’t terrible. I also ordered a diet soda and was surprised it only cost $ 2.95(I’m use to paying $ 5 for a bottle of water at the airport). If you were between the sandwich place next door or this place. I would go with this place.

I would give zero star if I could. Extremely inattentive staff and extremely slow service. Fish is bad quality too.

I appreciate that there are sushi joints here at SFO, but Tomokazu is exceptionally mediocre even by the low standards of overpriced airport food. I stopped by here because I wanted a reasonably healthful bite to eat before a long flight out to Frankfurt, but I probably should have just saved myself a few hundred calories by going hungry, as the nigiri sushi here was rather lukewarm and forgettable. Perhaps you’ll have better results with cooked dishes, where the prices don’t seem terribly out of line. Not sure if I’d want to come back for more, though.

Asked for water several times but didn’t get it. Too slow and don’t pay attentions to the tables or guests. The food is okay.

Worst service and attitude ever! The woman with an angry face literally gave orders to us where we should sit and where the luggage should be. After sitting there for ages, nobody came to take order. We finally stood to leave, the waitress came to pick up the menu with an grumpy face and without even one word to us!

Meh. Yeah I can just end the review right there. Where to start? Well for starters, you’re eating at a restaurant and second, it’s a non-authentic Japanese restaurant serving mediocre sushi rolls, nigiri, and bento box like items. I already knew it was a bad idea going in but there weren’t that many restaurants open before our red eye international flight. The California roll’s rice felt a little dry and the udon noodle’s broth didn’t have any taste as if it were water. Overall, I would avoid but considering the circumstances, I guess I shouldn’t blow my trumpet too loud.

We got tonkatsu and beef teriyaki take out for our plane ride. The service was very quick and the food was perfect for taking on the plane. The tonkatsu was lightly breaded and fried. The beef teriyaki was tender. This is my pick for international travel!

OK for airport food. You won’t get sick but the food isn’t very good. Well, at least the sushi wasn’t but my dad enjoyed the udon. At one point the waitress actually poked me in the shoulder to tell me that I must move my carry-on to the corner of the restaurant. Pretty rude service.

This place isn’t THAT bad. The nitty gritty is that this is really the only decent place to eat at in the international terminal area. If you’re there extra early, just walk to the busier terminal. I chose this place on purpose and there was only one issue that I saw: service. Sure, the ramen and my mom’s udon noodle soup wasn’t awesome and life changing, but it was waaaaaay better than I thought. The noodles actually had a bit of a chew to them and didn’t just fall apart like instant noodles, or how I thought they would. The service was terrible. This restaurant is not airport friendly at all. There’s hardly any place to place your luggage, it’s super crowded and of course there’s a line. The worst thing is that because it’s so busy, no one really has much to do other than stare at the waitresses running around frantically purposely ignoring people. It was a sad sight. We all watched as waitresses walk away from several customers in mid-sentence and leave them without drinks or sit there for nearly 20 mins trying to pay. When we finally sat down, our neighbors got up, apparently waiting too long for their foods. Another couple sits in their spot, places an order and leaves as well before receiving an order, placing the waitresses in more added stress. Overall, it took maybe 45 mins for a bowl of decent ramen and udon but it was okay because we had a 3 hour layover. I wouldn’t get sushi here. Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere if you have less than an hour.

6÷23÷15: We were on our way to Canada and were a tad hungry and had some time to kill. Not too many options here, so we thought well, never had sushi at an airport… I think we were both expecting crap for way too much money but were really pleasantly surprised! The food is just about average – nothing special but certainly not bad. And the prices are GOOD! I mean, not the cheapest sushi, but really just about the same price as a restaurant outside the airport! That’s pretty much unheard of. 1. Salmon(Sake) Sushi $ 4.75: 2 pieces of nigiri suhi. Tastes good, not any different than your average sushi place found anywhere else. Price was sane too! 5⁄10. 2. Beef Udon $ 10.50: Not bad! Good sized, and lots of stuff in there. You got mushrooms, napa cabbage, beef, fish cake, and probably some other things. Maybe not any different than your typical udon, but again, that in itself is amazing! And the price might actually be CHEAPER than a lot of standard restaurants!!! 6⁄10. Good food at the airport for good prices! 3⁄5 #airport #japanese #sushi #udon

Icky. The only reason why this place survives is because there are no other options. I didn’t want Mexican or grab-and-go food, and I certainly didn’t want to walk any further than I had to, so I thought I’d give this place a shot. Got the gyu don beef rice bowl. The taste was typical of the dish, but the meat was horrible quality. You could tell it had been frozen, and in a bid to cook it faster, the slices of beef had been hacked into tiny bits, with just a few measly bigger pieces held together only by the slivers of fat that happen to be there. It was also overcooked and rough. There were very few pieces of onion. I was alone, and they seated me with this affable guy who was half-way finished with his sushi combo. Before I ordered, I asked him how the sushi was, and he said it was«okay». He then joked it was the best the terminal had to offer, but only because it was the only place serving sushi. The one thing keeping me sane as I ate the horrible meal in the cramped seating area was our friendly banter about our travels and life. Service wasn’t great — though to be fair, they were crowded. Was never offered water, and had to ask for it halfway through my meal when I realized there wasn’t any at the table. I asked if they served tea but was told it was not complementary.

Well, I wasn’t about to eat airport sushi before a 12 hour flight. However, ramen is a great comfort food to fill up on in lieu of a lackluster airline meal. This place is solidly ok. Like it could even pass for an alright quick lunch with colleagues if it were located downtown. Potstickers: Decent. Better than average for airport food. They definitely achieved the crisp bottom with soft skin on top. A light appetizer that won’t spoil your meal. Ramen: The pork belly was actually very good. Tender, melt away fat and a nice deep marinade. The broth was a bit lacking though, tasted more like salt than meat. Noodles were firm and ok. Veggies were veggies.

Honestly unsure why this one is rated so poorly. Every time I’m in this terminal this is the only place that is packed to the gills. Usually I stop at the food court one, but I’m slapping myself for not trying this one sooner. Granted, we’re not talking gourmet Japanese — but wholly enjoyable sit down simplicity. I was seated quickly at the sushi bar and the sushi chef took my order politely and cheerily. As the waitress seated me she let me know(apologetically) that they were cash only today. I ordered the beef and rice bowl(special) for $ 9.50. Dude, it was good. Exactly what I wanted — super tender thinly sliced beef sautéed with onions. A tiny bit sweet, and cut with a barely there sprinkling of pink ginger, on top of an ample helping of rice. Heck, the rice alone was good — cooked perfectly. Really, it was good — I inhaled it despite my rudimentary chopstick skills. Better than the Cobb salad or turkey sandwich down the way for sure.

It’s Japanese food at the San Francisco Airport. Don’t expect super gourmet Japanese food. It’s decent for what it is, and not super expensive. I got potstickers and a large bowl of udon for about $ 20. The pot stickers were good but like most places I suspect it’s just frozen pot stickers that were deep fried. The udon noodles were a good consistency but the broth was a tiny bit bland. There was also a large shrimp and chopped up octopus to my disgust(that’s just me not liking seafood though).

Food is hit or miss here. I had some decent food here but others were, I am sorry to say but not that edible. Price is just slightly higher than what I would like to pay for the level of food they serve but not overly expensive. This place is always packed. It really doesn’t matter if it is lunch time or not, they seem to be full with customers. Since I am almost always alone traveler, I like to sit at the counter seat, but not always available. I was asked if I don’t mind sharing a table with a stranger, I chose to share a table with someone I don’t know. The person sat in front of me was very quiet and didn’t talk at all. So it was just like sitting at a table by myself. The food to avoid: Tempura. I ordered tempura side dish, I don’t think I will be ordering tempura from here again. The food that was okay: Noodles(udon and soba), sushi(a bit expensive for the level but okay). Service is okay. They are doing what they can to accommodate busy travelers. I like the fact they bring a check as soon as they bring food. No need to wait after you are done eating. There is not much choice at this terminal especially if you are pressed with time. I would go to terminal 3 if I have time.

Working at the airport, after a while your Food options become very limited and finding good food sometimes becomes very difficult especially with the pricing on the food at the airport. Was hungry around lunch time and didn’t feel like getting the usual food that is always available before the checkpoint. My supervisor suggested Tomokazu and recommended the Chicken Teriyaki bowl. So I decided to order for pick up. In my opinion probably the best Chicken Teriyaki bowl you’ll find at the airport. Very filling as well. I’ve been told the sushi rolls here are pretty good as well. Definitely will be buying lunch from here again!

In times of desperation we all make poor choices every once in awhile. I was at the airport, a little homesick for Honolulu and decided to get Japanese food. Anyone who loves Japanese food as much as I do would know instinctively that this was a bad move, but as my judgement was completely clouded, I could not see clearly. All I wanted was the rice. Here’s where the delusion started to set in… +I surmised that $ 12.95 for a deluxe bento box was a pretty good deal. +I concluded that there might be Japanese elves in the concealed kitchen who’d magically make my bento amazing. +I argued the possibility that the two star Unilocal rating had to be a mistake! +I pondered making hand puppets so id have someone to talk to about my bento. But then decided this would be a bad move because hand puppets like new American cuisine, not Japanese. On the plane ride home I ate my poorly constructed bento. Over cooked salmon, weird stir fried vegetables, bland tempura, at least the rice was a okay. I should have listened to the hand puppets!

Stopped here for food before our flight to Istanbul. Unlike the Tomokazu in Terminal 3 which is part of a food court, this one has it’s own seating area though I think they bought their tightly packed, short chairs and tables from an elementary school furniture sale(not my pic ). Anyway, we shied away from the sushi and went with Salmon Teriyaki and Tonkatsu plates which come with a basic salad, a big scoop of rice(
) along with two pieces of the selected protein( ) The salmon was moist and nicely cooked, though drowning in the teriyaki sauce. One of the tonkatsu pieces was very good while the other was a bit dry. We arrived towards the end of the lunch rush and service was slow so just flag down whichever waitress is closest. Things improved as the tables thinned out. Unlike a prior review, we didn’t have to go to the cashier to pay. Significantly better than my Terminal 3 experience( )
