1st Call Auto Haul was established in 2005 in response to perceived inequities within the auto transport industry. The owner, Eric, was previously the owner and driver of a one man trucking company, Supreme Auto Shipping. He traveled all over the country transporting classic automobiles and eBay motors’ purchases, hauling lease returns and auto auction vehicles, and taking care of moving snowbird transports and family car moves for 1000s of customers. While he enjoyed the work, he felt the carriers and drivers were often pitted unfairly against customers. These customers, as a matter of practice, were routinely deceived by dishonest brokers. Eric decided to get out of the truck and attempt to change the industry from the top down. His successful formula is actually a very simple one, provide honest answers to customers’ transport questions, pay trusted carriers a fair wage to transport valuable automobiles, and always make yourself available to ensure satisfaction for all involved.

Eric is fantastic to work with! I needed a last minute transport and he worked magic and was able to get my car picked up for transport the same day! During the whole process he was easily reachable by phone and/​or email. He provided true customer service– really worked to make sure his clients were informed about the process and happy! This is one of those instances where i think «thank god for Unilocal» and breathe a sigh of relief. I’ll be honest – i didn’t do a whole lot of shopping around as other Unilocalers have noted. I found this business on Unilocal and based on the reviews didn’t think twice about requesting a quote.
I gave Eric a follow up call – he spent 10 – 15 min on the phone with me answering all of my questions and walking me through the entire process of shipping my car from Boston to Baltimore. He made every effort to accommodate the dates I needed for the move and made sure that my car was taken care of if it made it to Baltimore before I did.
Others have mentioned that they don’t take a deposit – sort of true in the sense that your credit card doesn’t get charged until the shipment is officially scheduled, which is about 2 – 3 days before your car gets picked up. All fine by me. Eric had also offered to take a personal check from me as payment in the event that I had to leave my car with him (as opposed to having it picked up from my home – again, scheduling issues with a weekend/​monday move). This was a really nice move considering credit card payment charges you a 4% fee.
The day before and of the car pickup, coordinating with the driver was super easy and he even accommodated my delayed arrival in Baltimore. Couldn’t have been an easier or less stressful experience.

It is true. This is as good as it gets! Eric is absolutely fantastic in finding you a carrier. My vehicle had to be transported to Savoy Illinois (not the usual place). My daughter was desperate for her vehicle while attending the University of Illinois and was biking back and forth to school. Eric found a carrier who delivered in about 14 hours and although there was a slight hiccup with dropping the vehicle off (the office at her complex refused to sign for release) Eric called directly and resolved everything. Very impressive. Excellent! Thank you Eric.

Did not take an upfront deposit, unlike many transporters, which I thought was quite honest. Car was picked up on time with plenty of communication along the way, and dropped off as promised. Eric knew what he was doing and was easy to work with. Could not recommend more.

Eric did a phenomenal job getting my car from Boston to LA! I was flexible with the drop off date in MA, but knew I needed my car as soon as possible after I arrived in California. When I landed at LAX, the driver called that my car was ready and could be at my apartment when I arrived. Within minutes of arriving at my apartment, my car arrived at my door on a flatbed truck and was in great condition (albeit dirty, but that was expected). 1st Call Auto Haul was a little more expensive than other shipping companies, but it was definitely worth it for such a flawless delivery and it saved me money overall by not needing to rent a car. The process definitely exceeded my expectations– thanks Eric!

I worked with Eric Sailer to move my car from Cambridge to the SF Bay Area.
I would’ve paid a premium for reliable no-​bullshit service and Unilocal seemed to indicate that. The overall move was smooth, a carrier picked up my car (with enough heads-​up) — took it to LA (apparently it is volume thing) and was in the Bay a few days before the date predicted.
The car itself was undamaged, will require a thorough car wash but that is expected after a cross-​country move. Overall, Eric took the stress out of the process and that was what I paid for.

Stop your search here. You’ve found the best. Eric and 1st Call Auto Haul are straightforward, reliable, reasonably priced, and of high integrity.
Eric saved the day when my initial shipping company went totally unresponsive. He had my vehicle on the truck within a few days, and helped me figure out some complicated logistics. I was always able to speak with him directly and he answered all of my questions, plus he patiently explained the full shipping process. None of that leave a message and wait 3 days for a callback nonsense I experienced with multiple other companies.
Best of all, my car arrived in pristine condition, not a bump or scratch to be seen. It’s not a nice car, but it’s the only one I’ve got, and Eric made sure it was on a truck with high-​quality shippers.
I’ll never work with another car transporter again, and I’ll be referring all my friends to 1st Call Auto Haul.

Another 5* for 1st Call!
This was my first time using a car transport service. After making the mistake of filling out a generic on-​line form and getting called, aggressively, by countless brokers I found 1st Call here on Unilocal!
Eric was phenominal. He is very knowledgable, articulate and professional. He secured a good rate. The quote was in the lower middle of the spectrum. I was determined to avoid the lowest quotes because of online reports of lowballing and nickel and diming. Trust is very important in this transaction. Once the brokers is paid you pretty much have no recourse.
My shipping timeframe (Boston on Colorado) had constraints on both ends but Eric assured me that he could work with them, and he did. The rig driver was polite and professional as well. My confirming calls with the hauling service were also flawlessly handled.
This was a 5 star experience in a business where that is not the norm.

I get the impression that Eric runs the whole show by himself and cares quite about his reputation. There were shipping companies who quoted me a lower price on my car transport but they also assaulted me with form emails and had either terrible or fake-​looking reviews. I guess I mainly I went with 1st Call because Eric wasn’t some rude jackass on the phone.
He was able to get a driver very quickly, the next day if I recall correctly, and the driver (Jose) was both courteous and professional. My car made it safely to it’s destination right on time, and I will definitely be contacting them again next time I need a car moved.

After much deliberation, I went with Eric Sailer at 1st Call Auto Haul and am very glad I did. He is professional, thorough, knowledgeable, and polite. His rates and fees are fair — he was ready to answer all my questions and guide me through the process. Be wary of low ball offers and similar ripoffs. You won’t save money there.
You pay the broker’s fee by credit card when you ink the contract, but it doesn’t get charged to you until the car is picked up. The balance is payable COD to the driver.
I highly recommend Eric and this firm — in addition, the driver was on time, polite, and friendly. All in all, a very positive experience !

I have used 1st call auto haul three times so far. First time was for my car to move from west coast to east coast. Seconds time to move my wife’s car, and third time to move the car back to west coast. I have been pleased by the timeliness of their service, communication and professionalism.
