Preferred Auto & Tire

Very happy with the service and customer service. My first experience was an oil change which the women who I can’t remember her name explained a couple things that needed to be fixed but we’re not something that needed to be done right away, but to watch out for a noise. 3 months later the noises started. Dean who I delt with on my second visit was very honest with me and not pushy. He gave me tires for a good deal and threw an alignment in for free and replacing my light bulb. Although the bill was hefty, I was very happy with the service and getting a couple things for free. I can’t remember the last time a mechanic threw a couple things in to help a customer out. I would recommend them!

Recently visited to have my front and rear breaks done and get inspection sticker. Great customer service and everything was done when they said! I will definitely be going back

STAY AWAY! Went in for an inspection sticker. Kid couldn’t read my OBD port inside the car, so needed to plug in through the engine bay. He wound up resetting my whole computer and setting my check engine light off. The owner had no reasonable explanation as to why this would happen, and the kid just stood there with a dopey look on his face. When I demanded an explanation, the owner brought me out back and asked me «What’s your problem?» Well, sir, in case you didn’t notice, I came in here without a check engine light on and now its on– that’s my problem! He then tells me «well sometimes things break» and told me to wait in the garage while he went to handle the other customers in the waiting area. Really?! You’re going to try and pull a power trip? What a joke of a shop, not only are they incompetent with even a simple inspection sticker– but they are also incredibly rude and will try and kidnap you if you argue. I went to Autozone and they had no problem connecting to the OBD port inside the car and basically they said «it looks like someone fried your computer, because everyone is throwing weird codes» after a drive cycle the computer reset and the check engine light went off, but now I still have to go get this REJECTION sticker taken care of. Waste of my time and energy! STAY AWAY, YOU MIGHT GET HELD HOSTAGE!

Preferred ROCKS! They don’t scam you, so ladies, if you have no car guy in your life, this is the place to go! They explain stuff so ANYone can understand it, and they don’t try to fix extra stuff that isn’t broken! They’ve kept my cars alive for the LONGEST time!

Total shit, I would never go back. As a new to the neighborhood promo, I got a coupon in the mail for an oil change at a discounted price. I brought it in to redeem. I was spoken to rudely and told they could not honor the price of the coupon they sent me because «that was far below the price of oil», he even accused me of possibly counterfeiting the coupon. Ok whatever I’m here just do it anyway I thought, so I left my car. While I left my car there to get the oil changed they rummaged through my glove compartment and found my registration in an effort to prove I was lying about my address. Assholes. I would never ever go back.

Went in for an oil change before the drive to Vermont. The outlet wad accomodative for a walk in. Job was well done and quite fast.

Originally I was pleased with the work done here and Dean and his crew were always personable. But the more I went for simple repairs like a brake job, the more odd things wrong they started to find. I own a Toyota which typically has little go wrong and suddenly repairs were needed on things you never hear of having to be repaired. Ok, maybe just my bad luck. But I also recommended my daughter bring her car here and now she was in the same boat… more repairs, repairing things they thought they fixed and now having to come back to fix it again, and trying to charge my daughter for stuff they never really fixed right in the first place. When her car would not go into reverse, Dean asked her «how much she loved her car», because a rebuilt transmission would be over $ 3500, more than her car was worth. She had someone else work on her car and he fixed an earlier problem that Preferred couldn’t figure out (basically gunk build up was choking off air flow and her car idled rough and hot) and also got her reverse working. All for under $ 400. I can’t positively say they were deliberately ripping us off, but my gut says so. Needless to say, neither of us will be back to Preferred.

Dean and his staff (Lisa at the desk) are always professional and informative. Face it car repairs are expensive. All I want is a fair price from someplace I can trust who’s not just trying to scam money off me (dealerships). I don’t feel Preferred pushes you towards repairs simply to empty you wallet. We’ve been customers here for at least the past 8 years and have always felt we’ve been treated fairly. I like going to a repair shop where you can speak with the owner, Dean is very hands on, and knows what’s going on with all the cars in his shop.

Stopped by on my way to get my state inspection done. They failed me because of my tires. They said «too worn out», and offered to sell me new ones. I decided to skip the offer and went to my regular tire guys. My guy wasn’t only surprised that they failed me but also said «I’d feel bad if I sell you new tires». Rushed back to ‘Preferred’ and after about 5 min of arguing I got my initial inspection reversed and got a sticker.

These guys have treated me really, really well. I took my car in with the complaint of a water leak. It was explained to me that water leaks can be hard to diagnose and that they would do their best to get it done. The first time I walked away and paid much less than I thought I would have to, but unfortunately the first time didn’t quite fix the leak. Dean and his crew worked on the car tirelessly until it was fixed. Dean was great on explaining the work that they did and how it would help. Also, they covered the expenses for all the work done after the initial trip there. That is customer service you don’t always get. Lisa handles billing and appointments and is always consistently nice. I really appreciated the work that Preferred did for me!

Great place for auto repairs. Dean and his staff always explain what the problems are before doing any work. Very fair prices. Never any «over selling». It is great to have a mechanic I can trust. A loaner car would be nice for long term repairs. i. e transmission build. Shuttle service is a nice touch.

I went to Preferred to have tires installed on my car. I had bought them online, so they just needed to be put on the car. Not only was the service friendly, but quick effiecient and priced out cheaper than others places. I will definitely be going back for additional car needs.
