Culinary Underground

I attended a class last night for Cuban cuisine for a work outing. These fine folks rolled out the red carpet for us and it was SO much fun! They had a lovely little spread of wine and munchies (yum) to enjoy while we waited for everyone to arrive! After everyone settled in, we all sat down to a great demonstration to show proper knife skills (always good information), and then we got a thorough tour of the kitchen and what we’d be preparing for the night. They split us all up into 2 groups and we prepared the dishes. The kitchen is laid out well, the staff was friendly and helpful when we had questions about what we were doing, and they really bent over backwards to help us all have a great time. I think the best part was eating everything we’d made — it came out perfectly with their help. I can’t recommend this place enough. Well worth the $$ and you should definitely go!

I recently attended an Indian cooking class at Culinary Underground with my mom. We are both from England, where Indian food is prominent, so I have to admit, we had very high expectations straight from the get-​go. We weren’t disappointed. Let me start off by admitting that I’m quite the novice in the kitchen. I can follow a recipe and create a dish (and *usually* it comes out pretty well), but that’s the extent of it. My mother, on the other hand, is a fantastic cook. She’s one of those people who doesn’t need a recipe and never uses any sort of measuring devices (you know the kind!). We soon discovered that these classes are perfect for any level of experience– whether you’re the «Master of Spaghetti» or the next Julia Child. The class was intimate (I think there were 6 or 8 people in it), which meant that the Chef was able to spend time with each person individually, moving at an appropriate pace for each level of cooking experience. We both learned a lot of new tips, one being how to peel a head of garlic in less than 10 seconds (yes, it can be done!). We made new friends, learned how to cook a delicious meal, and spent a fun evening together. And my favorite part? The eating, of course! Two and a half hours in, we got to sit down and enjoy the three-​course meal we cooked, washed down with a glass of wine. I would highly recommend Culinary Underground to anyone! The staff is great, the food is great, the kitchen is very clean and organized, and you’ll leave feeling satisfied, full, and happy. Bön appetit!

About a year ago (I’m sorry I did not write this sooner), I signed up for a 3 hour artisan bread class. I’m a pretty serious home baker but haven’t really explored the world of breads. So I was excited that they were in metrowest and did a long bread class.
What I got was a 1.5 hour bread class and a 30 minute sit down lunch. We made 1 type of bread (well two, but with the same dough) while one of the employees made a soup for lunch and then as soon as we had all finished our one dough they coralled us to the table and started cleaning up the kitchen. By the time I had walked out the door the kitchen was cleaned and they were turning out the lights ready to close up for the day and it hadn’t even been a full 3 hours yet!
I was flabergasted. If I had wanted to go out for lunch, I would have gone out to lunch with a friend. but I wanted to make BREAD. 90 minutes and 1 type of dough does NOT a 3 hour bread class make.

Came here for Couples night! Of course we chose Sushi…
I had a great time. Learned so much from the owner. she is a lot of fun. We were very hands on. she gave us the ingredients and tools and had us fill and roll what we wanted to. It was quick, easy and plentiful…
It is definitely a great idea for couples or family to come out, learn how to cook, have a good time, eat and enjoy. Apps and dessert come along with dinner too.(what you make of course)

My husband and I took a couples cooking class that focused on Moroccan cuisine. It was a blast! We both love to cook and try different foods and were both able to learn a lot! We picked up some new tips and techniques and enjoyed some very tasty food with a great group of people.
The instructor and assistant were absolutely fabulous and very helpful. We can’t wait to go back for another class!

I took a cheese-​making class here with my mom. The owner and instructor was very informative, knowledgeable and incredibly nice. The class was small (under 10 people) and very laid-​back. Her and the assistants’ attitudes toward cooking in general seemed to be pretty relaxed, which I liked.
The class was three hours long and we made mozzarella, ricotta, queso fresco and paneer. When the cheeses were done, we made things with them (cannoli, nachos, a caprese salad type thing, etc) and ate them. Some of us got to take leftovers home.
They also serve wine (at a reasonable cost) to drink while you’re cooking. It was fun, reasonably priced, informative and delicious. I would definitely take another class here.

Really enjoyed the father daughter «Cupcake Wars» event where we decorated cupcakes. My daughter is 11 and really had a blast. Would definitely come back.

Went into the location to get information and ended up having a 45 min conversation with the owner. The knowledge and services they offer here can’t be beat. I was only mildly interested in a class but now I am watching the calendar and looking for something that I am interested in attending.
