The Ice Cream Parlor was founded in 1976 and has been a proud member of our community ever since. We have over 24 flavors of homemade and Hersheys’ brand Ice Cream, Shakes, malts, floats as well as fresh sandwiches, salads, wraps, soups, burgers, dogs, and daily specials. History

Established in 1976.

Opened in 1976 by John Spring in the historic CT Patch Building in beautiful downtown Southern Pines NC. The business has changed hands a few times over the years with current owner having been in place since 2002.

Born and raised in Southern Pines, I grew up spending time in the Ice Cream Parlor as a child. Im honored to carry the torch for a while. My two children and I are so very fortunate and proud to be a part of such a wonderful community. Stop in and we will be happy to tell you more about The Sandhills and all there is to see and do.

I love taking my daughter here when we are visiting SP. The homemade vanilla is the best. Seating can be a little difficult when it’s busy — but it’s busy because it’s that good!

Stopped in for ice cream when we saw this place while working. I only got homemade butter pecan ice cream. It was the best I ever had. Will be going back with the family. Glad to see they are open 7 days a week with late evening hours.

A small ice cream shop downtown that sells some food as well. They have 2 ice cream cases, one with Hershey’s ice cream and one with homemade ice cream. I had the homemade, butter pecan and butterfinger. Very creamy and melted rather fast which tells you there are not a ton of preservatives. Good texture as well.
Indoor and outdoor seating. If you have kids and their lucky they may see the train go by.

Awesome spot to take the kids on a hot afternoon. I love there selection of homemade Ice Cream. Additionally, their location makes the visit even more special. This staff was very friendly and accommodating to the kids who couldn’t make up their mind.

Various menu, a lot more than just ice cream. Try their veggie wrap!
Keeps open later than most of the town lunch spots and has outside seating on the corner of the main street downtown so you have a decent view of any action going on in town and people watching.
My dog loves to meet people on this corner at their tables in hopes that one day someone will share their Ice cream.

I was kind of bummed that a cool little place like this carries Hershey’s Ice Cream. I was hoping they would make their own ice cream or have a more local brand. I got the moon pie and was disappointed that it wasn’t fully frozen. My mother’s ice cream was also soft. I also tried to order a soda and the flavor I wanted wasn’t available cold so they sold me a luke warm cheer wine with a cup of ice. Granted, I opted to purchase the warm soda, but it still put me off a little they didn’t have any cold ones. Overall, a good experience though.

I like this restaurant but lately have been disappointed by the staff. I took my daughter for her 16th birthday and the young man behind the counter actually yelled at her because she didn’t hear him say «cone.» She was embarrassed in front of her friends. The food is good in a casual way, but this is the second time the staff has been rude to me, so I may not return.

The Ice Cream Parlor in downtown Southern Pines is one of my favorite lunch spots. Yes, they have ice cream-​but they have so much more. I think that Anthony makes the best chicken salad in town (as a matter of fact, I don’t order it anywhere else). Their menu has many sandwiches, a daily soup, and specials every day. The restaurant is always buzzing with activity and a day spent in downtown Southern Pines is not complete without stopping in and grabbing a bite!
