I have only ever grabbed food to go so I can’t comment on the dining experience. I really didn’t expect to find a Philly Cheesesteak this good in Southington, CT. Good value for money!

The only thing wrong with this place is the inconsistency. Usually I get a good amount of steak, but once in a while I get a very light sandwich. Usually the sandwich is well put together, but occasionally it is soggy and sloppy. I gave 5 stars because I think the overall rating should be higher than it is. It’s a very solid place and 85% of the time it’s great. Suggestions: Spinach(steak/pepper jack), Philly hots(steak/PJ), southwest(chicken/PJ), Works(steak/pepper jack).

Pulling up to Pepper jacks you see the flame theme. It really catches your eye and helps draw you in with curiosity. Could this place be restaurant to go to for a decent Philly cheese steak? Answer… not really. The place itself looks ok if not a little sterile. I went there on a Friday @ 5:00PM. No customers. None. This worried me a little. Also what worried me was only one girl was working behind the counter. Owner walking around doing who knows what. Ordered the grinders. One was the original with what I thought was cheddar cheese and I ordered a cheese steak with the spinach on it. The girl behind the counter lacked all emotion. The owner never acknowledged that customers were in his establishment. Service gets this place knocked down a star. Onto the food! The grinders were both VERY greasy. To the point of soaking through the bread and through the wrapping. The meat itself tasted good if not just a bit overcooked. I couldn’t tell that my grinder even had the spinach on it. I could see it but it added nothing to the sammich. And were was the cheese? My sammich had a little on but not much. The original that I also purchased had even less. wth? You all make cheesesteaks with little to no cheese? Just not a good experience with the food. All in all, Pepperjacks need to step up their game with the quality of food and service. Want a decent sammich go to MJ Duke’s in Wallingford. They are far better in every aspect over Pepperjacks.

If you choose to bill your business as a restaurant specializing in Philly cheese steaks, you ought to do it well; PepperJacks doesn’t. We arrived at a little past noon and found the restaurant virtually empty on a Wednesday. Over the course of our lunch, only one other diner sat a table and there were 2 takeout orders. My wife and I each ordered the Original with onions and cheese whiz. The cheese whiz added nothing to the sandwich and the meat was overcooked, under seasoned and tasteless. The only positive was the roll which was both very fresh and tasty. Not surprisingly, I was told the owner has the business up for sale.

A really solid philly cheese steak place(The best in the area) with reasonable prices and a clean interior. very friendly staff who will greet you by name. everything I’ve tried here has been outstanding. Prices are very cheap but sometimes inconsistent. I feel their cheesesteaks are a great deal but in comparison the fries should be a tad cheaper, or a larger portion. this is only a minor complaint though I would have never stopped here if not for Unilocal, and now it’s one of my favorite quick cheap eats in the area, make sure to check it out.

Stopped for lunch today, the flaming sign caught my eye. The menu was pretty limited: steak or chicken or grilled veggie sandwiches. I had the BBQ sandwich with chicken, it had some kick to it from the pepperjack cheese, the chicken was thinly sliced and moist, the sandwich was delicious. My husband tried a steak version and liked it too. The subs are 8″ long, its the only size and was perfect for lunch. The inside of the shop is really cool with chrome flames. I’d go back there again.

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside but is worth a stop. It is pretty small on the inside but had a decent amount of people when I went in for the first time on a Saturday for lunch last week. I enjoyed a traditional Philly cheesesteak of cheese whiz and onions. The roll was fresh, the meat was well cooked and flavorful — and most importantly it wasn’t drowning in cheese. It isn’t quite as good as a cheesesteak in Philly, but the closest I have come in this area. I also got sweet potato fries and onion rings, both of which were solid. I went pretty traditional, but they had multiple other options… the main one being chicken instead of beef. There were probably 10 other topping options like buffalo style, spinach, hot cherry peppers and other yummy sounding choices to pick from. I plan on going back sometime soon.

We have been back here probably a half dozen times and the food is still great and the service has gotten quicker and better. . the prices are OK but the portions are reasonable. Would be nice if they had more than 3 flavors of Avery’s, but it’s nice to see the local pop in the fridge. as a vegetarian I appreciate the grilled veggie subs(although i am not sure how strict they are with the division of the griddle for meat/veg but i have never gotten sick from the food here)

Decided to try a steak and cheese for lunch. Everything was clean and new. The food was good — but they only have one size sandwich(8″) which is plenty for me… but most men that I know would be left hungry as the sandwich was fairly light on everything. I thought the price was a bit steep for the size($ 7 for just the 8″ sub). I’m a bit torn because I feel that you get almost double the size at D’Angelos for almost the same price. I would have given them more stars if either the sandwich was bigger(10″ and a little more meat) or the prices were lower.
