Uncorked by the Sea is a specialty shop in Southport, NC. We feature wine, craft beer, art & more. We have good everyday wine and special occasion fine wine. We have a great selection of craft beer and feature local artists. We have tastings every Thursday, 5 to 7 benefiting local nonprofit organizations. Free daily tastings are also offered. We are happy to help you plan an in-​house private tasting or help you select wines for weddings or other events. A great place to taste new wines and make new friends!

History

Established in 2011.

Uncorked by the Sea opened in the spring of 2011. Current owners, Jim and Gina Poppe, Rhonda Till and Paul Wasserman assumed ownership from Joaquin and Amanda Carbonell in January of 2015. When the Carbonell’s decided they wanted to spend more time traveling, Jim, Gina, Rhonda and Paul forged a partnership and became the new team at Uncorked.

Business Owner

Jim, Gina, Rhonda and Paul met at Uncorked by the Sea. They grew their friendship at the Thursday night wine tastings. Jim and Gina are California natives that have lived on the east coast for 18 years. Jim is retired from Trader Joe’s Markets. Gina is a glass artist. Rhonda is a North Carolina native. She and husband Randy moved to Oak Island in the summer of 2012 from the Winston-​Salem area. Paul is a Richmond, Virginia native. He began his wine career in retail in Washington, DC in the late 1970’s. He brings over 30 years of wine experience to Uncorked by the Sea. We all love making friends at Uncorked and supporting our lovely community.
