Beyond Nails

I called around 4:15 today to ask if they could do a full set, a kids mani and 2 pedicures. We get there at around 4:45. I asked for my daughter and myself to sit side by side each other for the pedicures. The lady I had worked on my nails so fast that she only took the polish off then sat my daughter and I in a chairs to get the pedicures done. My daughters pedicure lasted maybe 15 minutes, mine was longer since I got the deluxe. I sad in the chair finished from my pedicure for almost an hour. Within that time I had 2 ladies come up to tell me I was next and that it would only be 2 more minutes. I got up and sat upfront, I picked my color out and sat down. The lady that told me she would be with my in 2 minutes, took a lady in her chair that had just walked into the salon. I contemplated to leave but since the lady took my polish off, my nails looked awful. After waiting about 10 more minutes, I finally was sitting at a girls chair. She took over an hour to put a full set on me because she kept getting up and making sure she was getting paid for her previous clients. At about 7:15 I was still getting my nails done and my daughter and I were the only clients in the salon. They rushed me to have me pay since they were closed. I had to call the movie theater to move our movie back 3 hours (that was the next showing) since we had spent 3 ½ hours in this nail salon. They clearly only care about having the money from all the walk ins. We left the salon around 7:45!!! I will never go here again. I am so disappointed in this place!

2 of my daughter shellac nails came off yesterday. Just 4 days after getting them done.

I really don’t get why there are so many bad reviews.
I stopped in today at 6pm without an appointment. I was greeted right away and was told they could take me. It was really busy in the salon so I was very surprised I didn’t have to wait. Now I’ve seen in other reviews complaining of the cleanliness or lack there of, but to me they were extremely clean. As to those who mentioned that their implements aren’t sanitized… they are sanitized. The only places I’ve gone to where they «open» a new package of implements also charge $ 50-​$ 60 for a basic pedi.
Yen my technician was very friendly and sweet. She did a fantastic job on my toes and she gives the best foot/​calf massage.
I will definitely be a regular customer here!

I have been coming here for the last few months and I think this is (so far) my favorite place in Reno.
A friend recommended I come here, after I noticed her nails always looked nice and seemed to last so long.
Main reasons I love this place and would recommend it:
1) I always show up without an appointment and usually near the end of the day and they are ALWAYS willing to fit me in, despite how busy they are.
2) They are very affordable and do a great job and
3) My nails always end up looking exactly (if not better than I imagined). If I ask them to fix something they do it without hesitation and my nails dont lift and end up lasting several weeks still looking fresh!

This is a review my girlfriend had me write after experiencing this place with her. Went here after running the RTO… hoping for a relaxing, at least decent pedicure… not what I got… I get that it was a very busy… but my polish looks like crap and doesn’t look like the put topcoat on… and my boyfriend just got a simple pedicure and was charged the same as I was… they need to not rush people through and actually focus on good service… would not recommend to any one else… only reason I came here is because my normal place is closed on Sunday… never coming back

There’s a reason this place only has a couple of stars on average.
I went in today and decided I won’t go back. I’ve had nails done many, many times. I needed a full set and sadly, this is set I’m not fond of. They’re filed too narrow and the tips go WAY too far down the nail– some ½ way down into the middle of the nail.
I also got a pedicure. It was ok. Nothing spectacular and was rushed. The gals that did the pedis were all super, super nice.
While getting my nails done, the nail tech never introduced herself. Although she seemed nice enough, I was a turned off by how blatant she, and some of the others were speaking terribly about another person. Not sure who, but they were mimicking her, laughing at her, and being mean– without a care who heard them. This carried on for most of the time I was there. The tech even apologized to me because of how horrible they were! Her words. Just a terrible thing to do. As I sat there, countless people came as walk ins. She took every one of them but they were packed! Another lady came in and began to complain about her gel polish chipping off. Although she was told they’d fix it, she was argued with because it had been «a week.» Well, the signs on all their gel polish say it’s supposed to last 21 days! Then, the employees began to speak and yell in their native tongue. Obviously about this customer.
The salon really is not that clean. They could use to pay an outfit to come clean it. Just look at the dust build up on the shelf near the register, the plant on the back of the toilet and other things that do not get moved.
So, if you’re in a rush, don’t care if they talk crap about others, (probably you, too) and couldn’t care less about the cleanliness, this is you’re place. They’ll take anyone at any time. Another tale-​tell sign of the professionalism of the business– take a look at some of the responses to the low reviews on here. Very defensive and, frankly, bratty. No desire to make improvements.
I would rather go somewhere that I’m not rushed and can relax without the noise and dust. This isn’t that place.
Updating after getting two responses from the business: the most concerning is the behavior of the owner and two others. One gal she sits next to up in the front. They teased and poked fun of someone so much, it was horrible. Although I’ve had good sets where the nail tip doesn’t start at the MIDDLE of my finger– and I’ve seen cleaner places– let’s not miss the point. Admittedly, looking at the CCTV will do nothing if Vicky owns it. Thanks to the business for offering to look at the video to make sure I’m being «honest» — reading the other reviews it appears I’m not the only one who’s witnessed such lack of professionalism. I’m clearly not the only one with a problem. (How many stars does this place have?) Rather than do that to see if I’m right, honest, embellishing or otherwise, perhaps just admit it’s an issue– work on it– and move on. That’s what professionals do.
Meanwhile — ALL Unilocal users– please read all reviews and responses– look up other establishments and do yourself a favor– go to one where the owner appreciates your business and wants you there! Go to one with 4 – 5 stars. There are TONS of them. Don’t waste your time here. And– if there is a response from the business stating anything OTHER than an apology, one that continues to make excuses, it just furthers my point– they do not care about making things right.

I have now been to the salon a handful of times. I figured after the first visit and leaving with bloody toes that were cut to heck that it was clearly just that specific nail gal. I was assured she was in training and the manager or owner took over to fix the problem. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I returned. The second visit was all right, third was bad and this last time was flat out HORRIFIC! The tech decided to file more of my skin off than my nails. She didnt want to get up to go find the dremel to use to remove the previous gel on my toes, didnt even bother to give me a pedicure as far as my nails go, I had to ask her to even put warm water in the basin, the painting was done more on the skin than the toes itself and the gel is piled up in huge globs and super uneven. After way too many unsuccessful visits I HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT go to this place. Don’t waste your time or money it isn’t worth it.

Last June, I came in here with my cousin and her two teenage daughters for pedicures and nails. I’d had good luck getting nails and pedicures here beforehand so I scheduled an appointment for all four of us.
On this visit though, I had the worst experience, enough to make me never return. It was a few weeks before July 4^th and I thought it’d be fun to get a patriotic design (on my big toes only). The base color was red and the technician did my design. She finished my pedi before my cousin and her older daughter’s. My cousin’s youngest daughter was done so she and I walked outside to wait. The more I looked at my «design» the more hideous I thought it was. They looked like child drawings of the «Burning Man» on my big toes. The two of us went back inside and showed the owner, Vicky, asking her to please re-​do my toes. She was not happy about it and made me wait about 20 – 30 minutes before having the technician correct it. Vicky was working on my cousin.
After we all left my cousin told me Vicky told her that I am a frequent customer that comes in «weekly» and has never complanied before but as I was a «white woman and that’s how white women are». My cousin was shocked, not only because Vicky said that, but that she’d said this to her as we thought Vicky knew we all came in together.
The fact that Vicky made this racial comment was bad enough but she couldn’t even keep it to herself. This also displayed her lack of discretion and appreciation for her frequent customers. I’d have thought as a frequent customer, she’d have thought it smart to take care of me without complaining.
Although I am half Mexican and half Irish, I look white. My cousin and her daughters are olive skinned. I’m sure this is why Vicky didn’t filter her comment or recognize that we all came in together, although we’d also called ahead for an appointment.
My cousin spent over $ 220 on her and her daughters that day, plus my pedicure and all of my past business. None of it seems to matter to Vicky and she will never reap our businesss again.

What can I say great service at affordable prices friendly staff who are not only Professional but artistic as well

Had an appointment and still had to wait about 30 mins (which really isn’t a huge deal they were busy). The real issues tho were they were super unfriendly and my nails looked nothing like the pic I brought and were way shorter than I’d asked for … Just a mess.

I come in often, love the pedi’s. I never have to wait because I make an appointment. Very nice people work there and do a great job on eyebrows too.

Iv been here a few times to get my nails done usually always acrylic set with gel Polish the customer service I feel could be a little better. I usually never make an appointment an yes sometimes I have to wait but if you make an appointment you obviously wouldn’t have to. Iv never had any issues with my nails they never chip an I always walk in with a picture of what I want an they always do a fantastic job at imitating it. I have yet to get a pedi here but I will probably continue to do my nails here.

I came here with my two sisters. They took me right away and told them they would have to wait 15 min. I was done before my sisters sat down. The whole experience was very rushed. When I walked in the door I was bombarded with questions about getting a French manicure, which I did not want. There was also no hot towel and a minute massage at the end. The place is also pretty dirty. With piles of junk lining the walls and the machines are dotted with various nail polishes. I came for a gel manicure and was told to pick a bottle from a rack along the wall. It was very hard to tell what colors they had as there was no order to them and no color palette to look at. Last but not least they are expensive for the services they provide. Not worth it.

If you’re going in for a quick pedicure I definitely recommend this place. I love my pedis here. They can always get you in quickly and without an appointment.
Vicky did my manicure tonight and it was absolutely awesome. I love the coffin shape that she did and I love the sparkles that she added. It is really hard to find a good place where you can get a great acrylic manicure, but Vicky does an awesome job and I would definitely recommend her. If for any reason you’re unhappy with it she will make sure that it is done right. Thank you!!!

Been a while since I came here. Decided to try them agan. My friend and I came in on ¹¹⁄₆ around 515pm and both got acrylic nails with a gel Polish. Supposed to be 40 dollars. I don’t remember who helped me but her and another woman there were on a phone face timing with someone the entire time I was there. The place was loud and chaotic, no quiet what so ever. Hardly a relaxing place. When we were done (keep in mind my friend and I finished a min apart and started at the same time) we walked up to the counter to pay. I was told my total was 45 and hers was 40. Apparently mine cost more due to there being more work, as I only got the tips panted with a gel Polish and she had the full nail. they used 3x as much product on her and charge me more because they had to rub a second brush on my nail to clean up some polish. Either way I paid. A week later the gel Polish was actually coming off my nails… a total crap job. I will never go there again.

Ok salon other than their gel polish section is completely unorganized. You have to scramble through the polish just to find the color you want. They dont have the wheel with all the colors on them like most nail salons do. Going to a different nail salon because of that reason. Aint nobody got time for that.

I went here because it was the only salon that had an opening on a Sunday. The guy was very rude and did a horrible job on my acrylic nails. They were super thick and looked like they already needed a fill when I walked out of the salon. When I got my nails filled at another salon the woman commented that the guy was obviously new to doing nails. I might give another person at this salon a shot in the future, but I’ll never go to that guy again.

Came in for a gel polish change, and had to wait as all the stations were filled.
This is the first time I’ve been here, lady at the first station asked what I needed. I told her and she just said, «you’ll have to wait» so I sat down on their small waiting area.
While waiting about 10 minutes a few groups of ladies came in and the same lady had everyone sign in, when I didn’t… I think she noticed it got really busy and got up to address myself and another lady that we were next.
The layout of this place seems a bit off and crowded. You walk in there are already two stations in the front with the cashier tucked in the corner. Then there are four rows by two up against the wall. They definitely jam packed this place. In the back, that’s not noticeable from the waiting area, are the pedicure stations in the back.
The décor here is a bit dated and tacky, out dated cheesy nail posters held up by thumb tacks, mixed with crooked scenic canvases, fake flowers and plants scattered around, and even lined paper hanging from the air conditioning vents…
After sitting in the waiting area for awhile. I noticed they make reservations over the phone but accept walk ups if stations are available at that moment so it backs everything up. Poor planning on their side.
I ended up walking out. I waited 30 minutes, the entire waiting area was full, and I was supposed to be next. Two ladies walked in, I want to assume they were regulars because how comfortable they were with the staff, they didn’t have a reservation from hearing their conversation (one of the ladies picked out a color and asked one of the technicians «can you take me now or should I come back»), and they both were sat immediately.
I personally don’t mind waiting but that pissed me off because there were other people waiting with me and those two ladies took up two technicians and pushed us all back.
I definitely won’t be back.

Was a late afternoon on Friday Aug 4^th. I had called a few other nail shops. Didn’t even think to try this shop. I’m so glad I did they answered, I asked what time do you close? Reply with well normally 7 but what was it you needed? I said I need a full set. Oh she said come right in. See you in 15 min !! I was super excited left my house headed straight over there. Sat for like 5 min took me right away. I got to meet Hannah. She’s super sweet knew exactly what I wanted hit straight to work I was out of there in 45 – 50 min full set pink & white with glittery white what a great shop clean & if you have pictures of a design they will try their hardest to get it like the pic. Cash or credit cards accepted. I gave my nail lady 5 $ tip like I said she was fast clean knew what she was doing & very sweet lady at that. You Rock Hannah your my new nail lady. Nails are beautiful

Third or fourth time at Beyond Nails. Since I’m becoming a regular I should leave a review.
I first wandered in needing a pedi for an event that evening. I walked in and was immediately seated in a chair and received a very nice French pedi with sugar scrub and massage.
Second visit I came in with some raggedy gels needing… something and got a gorgeous set of pink and whites. My first full set with Vicki lasted almost a month. No lifting chipping or crusties.
Third visit was for a pink fill with Vicki. She does excellent work and is the owner.
Today I called ahead needing a pedi and a mani refresh. This was the first time I went in with a picture of what I wanted and Vicki delivered after a little consultation about how to best achieve the look she went to work. I’m very very pleased. See pic!
Tips: although you don’t need an appointment you may end up waiting for your services.
Plenty of parking.
Credit cards accepted as well as cash. You can tip on the card but you do need to tell the cashier how much to add.
If you are sitting in Vicki’s chair it can be a little chaotic as she answers incoming calls and directs all incoming customers.
Polish selection is good. There are two areas for non-​gel polish. One by the entry door and another across from the pedicure chairs.
The presentation of the gel polishes could be improved. They’re often interspersed in the general polish population and could be cleaned up and reorganized.
Cleanliness isn’t the greatest but the tools are cleaned between clients as are the pedicure tubs.

They are quick to get you in. I was a walk in and took me right away which was really nice. When I asked if they did shellac they sure did and had me pick a color from their shelves. When I was asked if I had shellac on my nails I got an eye roll and sigh which I was not happy about. It made me feel very uncomfortable.
All other salons I choose my color off plastic nails that are already colored. Here they make you pick off 3 shelves. Colors are all out of order, crusted over and super messy. I literally took like 10 minutes to choose a color that I really was not too happy with.
I was moved to 3 different spots which was a bit annoying. All of the places I have been to have used foil and either acetone or some sort of other thing to remove the polish. The lady I got warmed up a bowl of acetone and made me soak my hands in it. She told me 5 minutes and she walked off for a good 10 while chatting it up on the phone. I took my hands out of the acetone and ALL OF MY FINGERS were dried out and white. It started to get painful so I took them out. When she checked on my she was not happy that I took my fingers out and filed the loose polish off with a dremel, huffing and puffing while doing it.
I could tell she was not having a good day so I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because I know I have bad days as well. She then confirmed the color I chose and asked me if I was sure that was what I wanted. I was honest with her and said no, I was looking for a more natural nude color. She told me that I should have looked harder because she is always on top of ordering colors and all. My thoughts were, if you were well organized and had a different way of presenting them then you would not have this problem and would have more customers.
The counters on each desk were really dirty and dusty from nail debris. You can tell that they have not been dusted in a LONG TIME!
The cherry on the ice cream was when she greeted new clients and asked if they wanted a manicure and pedicure she literally rolled her eyes made a nasty face to them because they did not want both.
If you are looking for a cheap quick manicure I would not suggest this place at all unless it is the last resort. I have nail polish on my finger tips, my nails are not smooth at all and have bumps on a few fingers.
