In 1976, Frank and Janet Kelly started a small health and life insurance agency in the basement of their home. With small businesses having difficulty securing affordable health care benefits, there was a growing need for alternative sources of quality benefit plans. Their vision was to form a company that could bring small businesses together through common industry, trade or professional associations and thus provide them with access to better rates and benefits.
Over the years, the company has become one of the largest and fastest-growing group insurance administrators, brokers and consultants in the Mid-Atlantic region. Today, Kelly & Associates Insurance Group, still owned and operated by the Kelly family, services companies ranging in size from sole proprietors to corporations with more than 20,000 employees.
