Awesome soup and salad bar! The place is just all around great for fresh produce, sodas, and hot sauces.

Fresh produce and BONZ barbecue sauce. I’m not a healthy eater, no shocker there. My life consists of a steady diet of burgers and barbecue sauced meats. But my wife likes eating things that grow from the ground, and The Famous Tomato is a frequent stop for us. Parking is limited and the shop is small, but they make the most of it by stocking it full of fresh salad material and things I ask to be left off of my quarter pounders. While my wife gets fresh Indiana corn, tomatoes and other things she and rabbits eat, I grab bonz bbq sauce and pick out a hipster root beer(I try to look for Indiana brands like Triple X). Service is always friendly, too. P. S. They’ll ALSO let you try spoonfuls of barbecue sauce(select brands only, but hey, free samples!). We will be coming back again and again.

Have a good selection of sodas… but I was here for fresh produce. What they had looked good. But imagine my surprise… no fresh eggs. Kinda misleading.

This is a wonderful store with some delightful surprises. The selection of local produce is excellent. I also enjoy their selection of baked goods and old-school candy and treats. They have throw-back sodas as well. Don’t miss their wall of hot sauces… I always leave with a bottle of something new to try. The employees are all friendly, ready with help and a smile.

Very good fresh produce and other items close to track. A welcomed change from track food. The prices were good. Recommend the salad bar for a tasty healthy salad

My first visit, and I had high hopes because of online reviews and friend recommendations. It did not disappoint. It’s like visiting a hybrid of a farmer’s market and a neighborhood grocery store. I loved the small feeling of it. My biggest criteria is that it is clean and well-taken care of, which it was– even late in the day when I visited. I purchased some fresh locally sourced produce, tomatoes(of course) and cucumbers, which I am very pleased with so far. The chili was the some of best that I’ve tried in Indy in my travels too, so I will definitely buy that again. I am also pleased with their salad bar. I went late in the day, and it was still clean– which I definitely take note of.

What a great little place! I’ve driven past here so many times and never stopped in… what was I thinking?! They have a great selection of fresh produce, but also tons more to offer. There’s a ton of local products like hot sauces and preserves, plus a bunch of odd bottled sodas. They also have a salad bar that looked pretty good, even if I didn’t partake. The place isn’t huge, but they still manage to pack a lot into it. It’s not super convenient for me to come here for groceries or anything, so I don’t think I’ll be here regularly, but if I need some fresh local ingredients for a specific dish I definitely see myself coming back here.

We went here today for the first time. Saturday June 13th. They have a nice little salad bar that you can fix to go or they have tables both inside and out to sit at and eat your food. The salad bar has a decent variety, they have grilled chicken, ham and turkey for your proteins, and then they have lots of toppings like shredded cheese and cubes of cheese, lots of fresh fruits which were all delicious and perfectly ripe. Several pasta salads and today they had 3 different soups as well. They charge by the pound but two of us ate there and both got a bottled soda and it was about $ 20 so not bad for a nice fresh salad bar. They have several dressing choices, my favorite was the fat free Raspberry Vinaigrette. They have hundreds of different bottle(glass) sodas. you think of a flavor they got it. It is a very nice store with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

GREATSALADBAR! Make sure you check when the salad bar closes. I wish they would update their Facebook page for what the times are for the salad bar. Great selection to choose from for your salad. They have a ton of glass bottled drinks, fruits, and veggies.

I literally drive past this place to/from work, every day. Never have stopped though until recently. I’m always down to find a good salad bar — this is one of them! Also affordable — $ 5.49/lb. When you get a salad, pile on the bacon. It is the BEST bacon ever, not fake bacon bits. I had my heart set on just a salad, but there is a $ 5 min for credit/debit card usage, so I picked up a bottle of salsa and some local green beans [$ 1.79/lb]. The cashier said that anything that is in-season will be from a local farm. Unfortunately though the tomato crops haven’t been strong in Indiana this year so I’m not terribly sure where they source in that instance. I was impressed with their wall of extremely intimidating hot sauces [I’ve a sensitive tongue] and salsas. Everything in the store seems to be local or non-chain which is really cool, just a little too expensive for my taste.

AWESOME salad bar. Huge selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese, and dressing. At $ 5.49 per pound, it’s relatively cheap too! Homemade desserts looked great as well.

Hometown goodness. Fresh caramel apples. Apple cider samples. Giant wall of hot sauce. Super friendly staff. Discounted decorative squash. Old timey root beer. Love it. (bring cash, or plan to spend at least $ 10 for credit card limit)

We are new to the area and were very excited to shop at Famous Tomato. I walked into the store on a Saturday afternoon. I was the only customer in the store at the time. The 3 employees that were working did not even acknowledge my presence. One employee actually looked at me, then quickly looked away. Why would I give this place my business after such poor customer service? I didn’t. Good luck running a successful business.

My boyfriend pointed out that this market changes owners every year it seems. I was eager to go back as no matter who owns it, it is always stocked with fresh fruits and veggies. We spent $ 20 on a huge box of produce and patted ourselves on the back for our healthy choices. This place always carries lots of hot sauces, relishes and jams. I was disappointed to see they no longer carry the frozen Gray Brothers pies. Bring back the pies!

Famous Tomato is in the same location as Old Farm Market and still within the same family we’ve all known and supported. In time we’ll get use to the new name but as soon as you walk in you’ll appreciate the fresh, updated look to the market interior. The floor layout has improved along with architectural changes adding interest to the market. All the same familiarity is still here with hot sauces, pickles, vegetables, and flowers baskets outdoors. Tomatoes are arranged outdoors and you’ll find Morale mushrooms by the ¼ or ½ lb. in the cooler. It’s wonderful seeing this Marketplace staple return to 10th Street and the Speedway Area. Congratulations to the family on 39 years at the Rockville Road location. You are truly missed!
