Cold Stone is an excellent place to get get your sweet tooth on! Cold Stone allows you to make exactly the type of Ice Cream that you want. You choose from three sizes(you need to be reaaaaallllyyyy hungry to get the big one). You get to choose an ice cream flavor(there’s probably 20 to choose from) and then mix in whatever you want. Be careful as each additional mix in gets progressively more expensive. They have quite a few options available for those who don’t like the pressure of choosing mix-ins. While I normally like to choose mix-ins, I chose on this occasion to go with the peanut butter extravaganza. If you like peanut butter, try this baby out! Cold stone is a tad expensive, but it’s really good! Try it out and I doubt you’ll be disappointed!

I can’t remember when I was last inside an ice cream parlor. Notice, that was«ice cream». Self-serve frozen yogurt shop this is NOT. You look in the display case to see the day’s flavor offerings and see what mix-ins, that’s the enhancements such as assorted nuts, crumbled cookies and candy, etc., are available. Then decide on the portion size you want, which determines the base price of your order. Tell your server your choice of bowl size, ice cream flavor(s), and what mix-ins you want them to literally mix into your scooped ice cream. Now watch your house-made ice cream get hand turned, using ice cream paddles, with your mix-ins, to blend all the ingredients together. This is done on a granite table with a freezer slab undeneath, keeping it super cold. Into the cup or cone it goes! Viola! Your made-to-order Coldstone creation is ready to enjoy! I had the small, «Like It», of half Dark Chocolate Peppermint ice cream and half Blueberry Pomegranate hard frozen yogurt. Since I changed my mind to add a mix-in after he had scooped my flavors, I asked that my pecan pieces just be sprinkled over the top. I did not want the two flavors blended together in order to incorporate the nuts. First mix-in is free. Loved the creaminess of the ice cream. The mint was not overpowering, the dark chocolate perfect! The taste of the blueberries and pomegranate was also good but its texture lacking, being light on the dairy element. Service was friendly and quick. On the northeast corner of Newport Hwy. at Holland. A great way to end a meal next door at Five Guys burgers!

If you are looking to overpay for average ice cream… this place is for you. Have gone here a couple times and always left feeling like I just laid down way too much cash for just milkshake and also thinking how many gallons of ice cream I could have bought at the Wal-Mart across the way and made enough milkshakes for my entire neighborhood. People only come here just so they can say ‘Well, today we went to Cold Stone!” Big whoop. However, the place is clean. The employees are friendly. There are many flavors to choose from. But, the prices are high. One strange thing that happened to me here was when I ordered a chocolate shake, the employee made it with, prepare yourself now, vanilla ice cream and HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATESYRUP! Now I am no professional ice cream maker but I do know from having had quite a few years of ice cream eating under my belt that you if you go to a higher end ice cream shop such as Cold Stone Creamery and ask for a $ 4+ chocolate shake, you could at least get a chocolate shake made from at least one of the 10 different types of chocolate ice cream available. No thanks. You’ve lost my business, Cold Stone.

My wife’s favorite flavor of all time is the Dark Chocolate Mint that only comes around during christmas time. This needs to a year round flavor just to keep my wife happy. I personally love the peanut butter cup signature. Keep em coming!
