History

Established in 1976.

Hanson Carlen is now entering its thirty fourth year in Spokane and fifth year as a true design/​build firm and is being widely recognized as a leader in residential design build.

Several years ago, David Hanson of Hanson Carlen, charted a new course for the 30+ year old family company who specializes in upscale residential homes and remodeling. Hanson, who grew up working for his father in the family business, saw firsthand that the most successful upscale projects that were built included an architect. «Architects have an incredible ability and training to listen to a client, conceptualize an idea, and then communicate that idea in such a way that a client can understand», says Hanson. «On the other hand, contractors are the ones that can accurately estimate a project and bring the drawing on paper to what you can feel with your hands.» By combining creative design solutions with accurate estimating, Hanson Carlen has built a strong business model adding to a solid reputation.
