I came here 2 times in the same day Saturday and this was my experience. 9:00AM just when they open the staff seemed absent, granted Hastings is so huge I felt like I was in a scene on the maze runner! Not very busy, had to walk around to find some help, once I did the one gal I spoke with was helpful and another wasn’t. 2 different ladies, the one walked me over to the place I was looking for TV-DVD shows and the other I was looking for a CD which she pulled up on her computer but struggled to find it myself. I looked twice. Anyways that’s that. The store: seems like they try to be/do a lot! They sell skateboards and long boards?! They sell Magic the gathering booster boxes at MSRP prices?!(Who does that?) they have PORNOGRAPHICCOMICBOOKSATKIDSEYELEVEL??? Who does that?! Bittersweet visit… I found some Christmas presents for family, but it was sad to see that comic thing and lack of excellent staff help. Later when I came back in the day I was a lot more busy and the cashier that helped me with a return and a purchase was spot on helpful. All in all its like a best buy, depending where you are located this is definitely someplace to go for music, movies, electronics, games and more, to rent and buy.

Probably the last locally owned mom and pop shop that specializes in movie rentals AND books AND CDs AND now have added a coffee shop. I really don’t know how these guys do it, competing with Redbox. probably because of the .49 cent movie rentals(much older movies) Its the only place in Spokane, that I can think of that rents older movies. They have a vast variety of movies for rent and for sale. If you don’t want to rent a movie, they have a vast variety of books and magazines. If BN(Barnes and Noble) or Borders isnt your type of place, Hastings usually has it or can get it for you, usually cheaper. They also have a pretty good collection of CDs. Only negative I have is their clerks act like they dont want to be there or if you need to find them, their no where to be found. Overall, only reason I would go to this place is if I need to rent a movie thats not in Redbox or pick up a book for a few dollars cheaper than the national chains

I only frequent this store for video rentals, so I don’t have any input on their books and music section. In an age where video stores are becoming scarce, this store is a nice and cheap alternative to Redbox. Pros: decent selection, some movies as cheap as $.49/day Cons: movies not alphabetized well, rarely enough cashiers The way they charge for your movies is a bit weird. They charge you for a week in advance, and depending on when you return the movie, they prorate a credit to your account for the days your returned the movie early. The next time you rent, you can apply the credits to your rental. Be sure to doublecheck the disc itself to make sure the movie is the one you wanted. The cashiers don’t check to make sure the movie inside actually matches the case. And when a new release is a remake, they will sometimes put the old version of the movie back on the new release shelf. I didn’t notice this, and someone had placed the old version of a movie behind a new release box and I ended up with the wrong version. You couldn’t tell which year the movie was made by looking at the disc, so I think this could happen often. They let me exchange the movie for the correct version, but it’s annoying to get home and find out you have the wrong movie.
