I really like this place! Whenever I’m downtown(I live about an hour north outside of Spokane) this is my place for a treat! My go to is a caramel latte with either homemade cookie or, if I’m more hungry, a fresh salad. They have busier times of the day that I’ve noticed(I.e. Noon, lunch rush) so plan accordingly, it will be worth the wait. I’ve always had good experiences with the staff and I look forward to coming back again!

I wanted to bring my family here when they visited for my graduation. They had 1 cook and were very busy. It took almost two hours for the food to arrive(I had to leave and never even got my food). They do not know how to run a kitchen. When the food was done, the waiter brought the food out to my family in doggie bags while they were sitting at the table. I am absolutely embarassed! I used to love this place, but it has gone WAY downhill. I called in to complain to the manager, the man who was our waiter said that she wasnt in and didn’t tell me when she would be in. He also tried arguing with me over his bad service which to that I said, «I am not here to argue. I am here to talk to your manager about your awful attitude and service». I asked him to leave a message for me to the manager which of course he didn’t. I hope badly that he was fired. To argue with a customer is deplorable. I am disgusted with these people and will never return here if the world was ending. My family and I were not treated like human beings and quite frankly that attitude is disgusting. Will never give them a penny or minute of my time again. If the owner or manager is on Unilocal,I expect a big apology and push for you to evaluate your terrible staff. You are loosing customers due to your staff with attitude.

The food is not what you would expect in Spokanistan. This place reminds me of the eclectic, sustainably sourced food of sweet, sweet Portland. I will try the baked goods and update. I had the corned beef hash. It included fresh crisp veggies and seemingly in-house corned beef. I will be back

Such delicious cookies. The best peanut butter crème cookie-chewy, crunchy, creamy. Coffees so good. I look forward to trying lunch.

Madeleines is about a good as Spokane gets for a great Bakery. They do have some monster maple bars that are more similar to a small baguette covered with maple. They are good for 3 to share. While there we had the quiche and squash salad. The potatoes were not cooked in the salad. That was a fail. The quiche was just ok, mostly eggs. We had the cheese panini too. Again, ok. The pesto on the sandwich did taste fresh. We finished with some cookies, croissants, and éclair. All were ok, better than grocery store, but nothing to travel for. The shining star at this bakery is the DOMA coffee. DOMA is the best roaster around. My final note; I did like the too cool service staff. Felt like Seattle.

I’m from out of town, and used to love coming here at the old location. This place is lacking the love and personality it used to have. Food is mediocre and overpriced for being so basic. Disappointed.

Like I was in the French countryside. I like the style of order, pay, food delivered to you. This place was quaint and nicely decorated. I can’t remember the specific name of what I ordered. I can describe it. Two pieces of lightly toasted, thick bread with ham and Gruyère cheese in between. A perfectly over-easy egg on top. Served with nicely crisped potato wedges. It didn’t take long to get our food. Everything tasted wonderful. The coffee was strong! I’ll return the next time I’m in Spokane, WA.

Unbelievably bad service, rude, impatience, not friendly and food not great especially for the price. Won’t make exceptions for food and gluten free and was not at all accommodating– they should try to be more friendly maybe even an occasional smile. Never impressed with their chain of restaurants– step it up

I ordered the Reuben sandwich based on my friend’s recommendation. The meat in the sandwich was so delicious! The service was good, they were friendly and welcoming. The main reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the interior of the restaurant. I found the metal chair very uncomfortable and overall I was not comfortable eating inside the restaurant. You can either sit on a wood bench or a metal restaurant both or rather uncomfortable. Perhaps next time I will just get my sandwich to go and I’ll find a nicer place to enjoy it.

I used to love this place — this is my first time reviewing it. When it was in the old location(across from the Apple store) it was amazing and delicious. Every time I am in town — this was a must go to place. Being from the midwest where corned beef is a staple — it reminds me of home. And sharing that home feeling with my midwestern family located on the west coast — its like family time of comfort food. However, when this place moved locations, it seemed to change and not for the better. While the location is aesthetically pleasing, larger and modern, the food has gone down hill. We walked in on a Thursday afternoon, maybe 5 tables were filled which was an unusual sight. We ordered our Ruben sandwiches and a few salads for some side flavor. The corned beef in the ruben was tough, sliced in too large of strips, chewy, and full of gristle. You couldn’t even bite through the corned beef. I felt like this meal was meant for a chew toy for my dog rather than human consumption. Ordered the Pesto Salad — realizing recipes are different… usually there is pesto in a pesto salad… it lacked largely. It tasted like noodles and mayo, not much flavor at all. When letting the kid know the food seemed off — he told us, «I work the register, the food isn’t my problem». We had wondered if they changed chefs, recipes, owners or some justifiable reason why the food sucked that day — and thats all we got. Now for full disclosure, this was the first time I was disappointed by Madeleine’s — I have had many great experiences and food was totally above par — but I’m gonna lock in at a 3 with hopes to re-visit and find that ol’ Madeleine’s that I had fallen in love with.(Fingers Crossed) Location is in downtown Spokane — easy to find parking near, and an easy walk — all flat no hills.

This place was so good! I was in town for a conference and I managed to duck in here for breakfast a few times! A bit difficult to get back over in time(they open a little late) but it was worth it. I had their open faced asparagus sandwich with their hearty wheat bread mmmm came with this most incredible balsamic vinegar drizzle. Another day I had some of their chicken sausage, very flavorful! Their coffee was consistently good. They had a lot of pastries that looked incredible but I managed to keep my resolve and not get any.

Ive been to Madeleine’s plenty of times, but the past three times it’s always been a mediocre experience. They either are out of this or out of that. Sometimes I feel the staff are half asleep. I’m not even a picky individual. I compromise quickly, but from a professional perspective it just doesn’t look right. I always get a cake when I come, and I’ll say this their pastry chef knows what’s up! Kudos!

Place is a cute and clean. Took a little while to get my order in and even longer to get my order out. At least 2 to-go orders came out before my mine. Watching the single cook in the kitchen, I see he’s having a rough day with head slumps while feverishly fixing his plates(he’s trying but he’s overwhelmed for 8:30 on a Tuesday). The two hosts are running around working but the service is agonizingly slow. The food was okay. I got the Croque Madame, recommended by the host. It was a bit overseasoned with I’m guessing garlic salt. The fresh egg overeasy on top was a nice touch but on top of the already mushy buttered and greasy. The potatoes were not worth getting again either. The sweets looked like they have could be great but I didn’t take the chance. The macaroons looked like they were already yesterday’s and the prices were a little steep. I’d come back as a group but not individually chosen.

Our first time here. Rather more expensive than we are used to, but the food was excellent Service was good also. I had the hash and it was delicious. The chai tea was more flavorful and aromatic than at the corner barista stand. We will go there again.

Madeleine’s is the best place for breakfast and coffee. You do need to get here early if you don’t want to miss out on the delicious pastries. They sell out fast. The Cinnamon French Toast is perfect and the Croque Madame is delicious. Madeleine’s also has some of the best coffee in town. I love their new location. The seating options have definitely improved.

This is a place with no pretensions to fine dining; their name describes what they are striving for. While the croque madame was average, I really liked the savory tomato and pesto croissant. However it was the service that was the deciding factor when I chose between a 3 or 4 star rating. While it may seem odd to talk about service in a place where you order at the counter, in this instance the dining experience was directly affected by a crowd. The place was slammed by a convention, yet the counter could not take orders fast enough to fill all the tables and reduce the long line. Ordering was confusing. Despite what was on the menu and the placards in the display cases, neither soup nor green salad was available. When I ordered the savory tomato and pesto croissant which was listed, the girl at the counter told me they had ham and cheese croissants that day. I ordered one of those to go, and was later surprised to taste the tomato and pesto when I finally bit into it. It was a pleasant surprise, but still shows how confused things were.

They’ve got a lot of good going on: large modern space, free wifi, gorgeous pastries, modest prices, and both healthy and indulgent meal options. A bustling place to grab a coffee & pastry or hearty lunch, and scoot into one of their cute pastel blue booths. I had the decadent tomato soup(real cream in here!) and a side order of the root vegetable pasta from the pre-made food case. My tab came to less than $ 10 — a real deal for a filling, well-rounded lunch. Service is order at the counter, and they bring your food to you. I appreciate this quick, no-fuss set up that lets you chill autonomously. As far as the«Frenchiness» of Madeleines, the menu seemed a bit watered down for American tastes. Not that the food wasn’t delish, it just wasn’t 200% French. Call it French-American. There. Still a super cute(and spacious) spot to cozy up in.

Good food bottom line. The wait can be bad depending on the time of day. I feel like the prices have went up since the relocation. I think it was $ 4.00 for a cookie, yes one cookie. Everything is very fresh and hand made. I will have to try again soon. Thanks!

First time to the new location. I had been to the old one once a few years back and was not wowed and never felt inclined to return. However, had heard things were better at this new location. Storefront is beautiful and the café is brightly lit by big windows. Very clean décor, pleasing to the eye. However, when you first walk in it is not clear what to do… seat yourself? Look at a menu? Where to place order? I saw a few guest who came in after me confused about this as well. Customer service was good as was the food. I ordered the open face sandwich with scrambled eggs, asparagus, balsamic reduction and side of crispy potatoes. Everything was delicious although I feel that my eggs were under-seasoned. Hubs ordered the hash which was excellent, cheesy and savory with the sausage gravy. His eggs weren’t the prettiest but we’re still runny on inside which is how we like them. Overall, had a nice time and would likely return and recommend to others.

First impressions on the«re-branding» of Madeleine’s Café: The owners really bumped it up a notch or two. Very charming and open feel as you enter. My wife and I sat near the entrance so there was a lot of light coming through the windows. I like that they took this re-do as an opportunity to be better. I had the corned beef hash and it was very tasty(which I am usually not a fan of). Their menu is lacking a little though for brunch. Would love to see them add their version of country fried steak… the sausage gravy would go well with it. The cashier told me he was able to make a white mocha, instead I got a regular mocha. Overall, experience was good. Madeleine’s definitely does not deserve a 1 star but they do need some improvements to bump my rating to 5 stars!

Came in on a Saturday morning for breakfast with the family and was immediately charmed by the new space. I love the cool gray interior, the high ceilings and the endless amount of space. They’ve kept to the same ordering process that Madeleine’s had at the original location. Get in line, order and then find a seat and your food will be brought to you. I find this simple and efficient. Plus, the staff were very on top of everything and dishes came out quickly, food was cleared away promptly but without being too hasty. The food was wonderful. Cinnamon Swirl French Toast with clouds of whipped cream and fruit that was enough to share with the whole table. The country scramble was delicious and the sausage gravy had just the right amount of spice without being too peppery. Corned beef hash was another winner. And of course, we couldn’t leave without sampling the pastries as the maple bar has always been a favorite and continues to be. So happy to have Madeleine’s back.

I’ve been to Madelines on many occasions at their previous location. I was excited to try them at their new place in the currently trendy strip of Main Street. It was quite excellent. I had an americano(made with local roaster, DOMA coffee) and the steel cut oatmeal with blueberries, cream and cinnamon. Really tasty and filling. The place has a great ambiance as well, lending itself to the French bakery style it lends itself to.
