Ruby 2

I would’ve given this motel 5 stars, however I’m disappointed that I paid for a motel with working wifi, and the wifi does not work at all.
Otherwise I like how they bought the old ramada inn, renovated it, and made it a clean, comfortable, and hip motel for the price.
Management — please address wifi issue. And give me some sort of refund for a non working wifi. Otherwise I would have completely booked another motel that was $ 10 cheaper, and has a working wifi (which I’ve stayed at before)

I will start this by saying I love the décor and design of this hotel. The location is awesome, so close to trendy bars, theaters and concert venues. You truly can’t beat the price.
I’m rating 2 stars because while I loved all of that, I love sleep even more. I have two very young children that wake me up at home. My husband and I decided to get away for the weekend and leave the kids with my parents to celebrate my birthday weekend. After a fun night of bar hopping I was so excited knowing that I could climb into bed and sleep in for the first time in years. When we came to our room at 1 am the alarm was going off and what sounds like a live band is playing right under our room. I can feel the bass through the floor and walls. I write this at 6 am (I’m not a morning person and certainly wish I was sleeping) but the music is still going. Between that, the train that screeches every couple hours and pillows that feel like I’m sleeping on a piece of cardboard with cloth over it I would gladly pay triple just to get a decent night’s sleep. I think I slept maybe 2 hours between the music playing (it’s still going at 6:37 am, 5.5 hours of this and counting) and the train.
Update:I bumped this up from 2 stars to 4 because after my terrible night they refunded us and were kind about it. The lobby music was left on accidentally and they’re making sure that doesn’t happen for future guests. Again, beautiful hotel and it’s very fun and trendy. Sapphire Lounge was great too.

Brilliant downtown location! Simple, clean, modern and inexpensive. Free parking, free breakfast and free wifi. They have bikes you can borrow too. Very very well done!

Booked conjoined rooms on a Friday night while I was in town for a conference. The immediate thing I noticed was the décor of the rooms and the facility as a whole. It felt very cohesive in the choice of art, photographs, and murals they chose to ornate their building with. I am a definite fan of the flowers and the big «HOTEL» sign outside. I don’t know, but something about the flowers and the old school feels just did something for me! I really loved the aesthetic, no matter how basic as that sounds — to me, it matters. It’s not the most colorful inside and it sticks to white sheets/​white walls/​occasional B&W photos, but honestly — my main goal here was to have a comfy space to relax when I wasn’t roaming around the city or headed to my next workshop.
For the price you pay per night in regards to location/​space/​amenities, you do get what you pay for. The beds are pretty comfy & as are the blankets, so when you’re pooped from a long day and need to take a breather you can (and with ease)! There’s also A/​C & a heater I believe, which is typical of most hotels, but honestly I want to mention it just because when I went it was in the 90’s and I know that’s not drastically hot, but I’m a pansy when it comes to hot or cold weather. Just trying to be real here. They have a cable TV, a mini fridge & microwave for you to use as well :) and closet space for you to hang your suits and dresses and whatnot. Blowdryers in the bathroom, you know the usual. They do offer free Wi-​Fi, which I do admit didn’t have the best connection, but I did expect this since there were so many other people staying at Hotel Ruby 2 as well the weekend I went. SO if everyone is trying to be on the same connection, you’re going to run into some problems. I did find that I did have connection at odd hours of the night… if that matters to you, but that’s because everyone else (including my friends I was rooming with, were sleeping).
The best thing about Hotel Ruby 2 besides how it’s affordable, is the LOCATION. This especially matters for those of you who may travel here and not have cars, but it’s in the center of Downtown Spokane and from the looks of things, so many things were in walking distance (aka close proximity). My friends and I did have rental cars, which did help but if you wanted to take a walk to see what’s around and what’s happening, you definitely could and feel at ease.
Parking in the lot in front of all the rooms is limited. There’s a good amount, but have no fear — if they’re out of space there you can definitely park in their underground garage :) and find a spot. They do charge for parking, but it’s not too shabby per night. Don’t remember the exact prices, but checking previous Unilocal reviews… Travis T stated that it was about $ 5/​night. See? Not bad, not bad.
ALSO, if you’re about saving pennies when you can… Hotel Ruby 2 DOES offer a Continental Breakfast. It’s not the fanciest, but it’s definitely not the worst. I’ve stayed at places where the free continental breakfast consisted of bread and packaged pastries from Costco… which wasn’t bad and I didn’t complain but Hotel Ruby 2 gives you a good amount of choices. There were Egg Muffins, Waffles (Blueberry and Original — you make it yourself, using their handy dandy waffle iron), Yogurt, Fruit, Hard-​boiled eggs, Cereal, Coffee, and Juice. Pretty decent spread and if you eat enough eggs, throw on some pepper and salt — you got yourself some good eats to keep you going for that morning! The only thing was that some of the hard-​boiled eggs were super super cold and you can tell they were either kept in the freezer or like a really brand spankin’ new fridge. Those babies were cold, but still equally delicious.
Overall, the convenience (aka location) and affordability of Hotel Ruby 2 really helped during my stay in Spokane. I only stayed at this hotel for a night, but the day/​night was truly a pleasure and helped me really feel comfortable and ready to take on the city :) or really… the arena the conference was held in — but whatevs.
Pretty solid and affordable place to stay at & if I ever find myself coming back, I would definitely stay here again!

Writing this review has given me the worst dissonance I’ve ever experienced.
On one hand, I want to root for this hotel: it’s WAY better than it used to be (I think it was a crappy Ramada before), the parking is sufficient, the bed is comfortable, the location is good (some people don’t like the train… I do)…
On the other hand, it’s still not as colorful inside the rooms as the original Hotel Ruby (which is only a block-​and-​a-​half away), the new coat of white paint doesn’t hide the really sloppy seems in the wall, and, THE INTERNET IS TERRIBLE!
The whole reason I was staying at this hotel was because the internet at Hotel Ruby wasn’t working at all, so they transferred me to this one. In the year 2015, it’s embarrassing that a small hotel can’t get their act together! Almost everything timed out ALL EVENING LONG.
I’ll stay here again, but not if it’s a trip where I am expected to do work which requires, you know, the Internet that doesn’t work.

I loved my stay at ruby 2. The train that runs alongside the hotel was not a bother at all; though I am admittedly a heavy sleeper. Breakfast options included: oatmeal, waffles, English muffins, yogurt, fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, coffee and juice. The hotel was clean and the staff was fantastic. Loved the walking distance to Main Street, the riverside mall, and centennial trail. Great value for the $. Just didn’t love that you had to pay daily for parking. In a place like Spokane where street parking is abundant, it seems a little like they’re nickel and diming you

We stayed here on a Saturday night that we had planned to go up to Spokane and spend the next day exploring the area. The hotel was an awesome deal and these rooms are also pet friendly as long as you pay a non refundable $ 25 cleaning fee. i’m not sure if that is something you get back or not actually, it might be.
But anyways, that is something nice about it. It is easy to find and the rooms are all facing outside so you can park and not have to walk far to get to your hotel room/​door. The décor was cute and super modern. It was awesome that we could get in so last minute without a reservation. Day of… we called around noon before checking in around 8pm.
Will definitely be back here next time in the area and would recommend it to friends!

I stayed at the Ruby 2 two weeks ago during a trip to Spokane and decided to pick it due to its location and value.
Location: You are in the center of Downtown Spokane where everything is classy and the streets are very safe. Everything is close by as you can drink at any one of the nice bars around and in a short amount of time stumbled back to your room in peace and safety (like I did). Parking is only $ 5 a night. 4.5÷5
Price: Being with the location, the other hotels in the area run for many times the price. The value here is amazing and is the best you can get for under a $ 100 a night budget. 4.6
Accommodations: WIFI is free which is a big booster these days, the rooms are very decent as you can tell that it’s freshly remodeled, and the beds are really comfortable that I didn’t want to get out (but that’s how I feel most beds… or floors these days tbh). It is not 5 stars accommodation and the train is kinda loud, it comes every hour, but I don’t really notice too much because I sleep fairly easily, especially when intoxicated, so for a young bachelor like myself it doesn’t feel as bad as a lot of people who reviewed this place said it to be. 4.5÷5.
Service: Service was good, basic, as in you check in with a very friendly front desk person who makes a really good impression of the place. ⁴⁄₅
Overall: I give this place a solid 4.5÷5, but not a perfect 5 due to the fact that I feel that it hasn’t reached there yet. There is still room for improvement, but for the value this is the place to go. 4.5÷5

Clean and nice. But the train nearby is too loud. Four star for this price and location (in downtown) I am not expecting too much.

Ruby 2 is a perfect combination of price, convenience and comfort.
Convenience: Ruby 2 is in downtown Spokane and within walking distance of just about anything you need down there. It has its own parking area so you don’t have to leave your car far away.
Comfort: Ruby 2’s rooms were cozy and well-​decorated. Someone with a bit of an artistic flair definitely selected the wall hangings. The beds were comfortable enough even for my extremely picky road-​trip copilot. Staff was courteous and attentive.
Price: the convenience/​comfort combination would leave me expecting a far higher price than what I paid. I was definitely pleased.
All in all, I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again. Top notch!
