Thrifty Rent A Car

I have had the best customer service this past 6 weeks, in particular Ryan and Lonnie have bee extremely helpful and attentive. I have rented a car 4 times during a six week time
frame and would use this agency again.

One word– FRAUDULENT rented a full size car, got there… told they had no full size cars left but they had a Dodge Challenger for 200 more then what I reserved for. I refused and so they put me in a sub compact Fiat for the same price. Walk out to the lot full size cars everywhere. They get paid commisions on the upgrades they try to force down your throat and if you don’t agree they punish you. Also they did the same thing to me, upon returning the car I received a call two weeks later saying I had damaged a seat belt in the back seat? lol there was no one even in the back seat. There needs to be criminal action against these people.

The guy at the counter 12 people ahead of me (after waiting for 30 mins + already) seems friendly. Funny that he is the only person working both the thrifty and dollar counters when the company was well informed that there would be 20+ vehicles picked up tonight. Great service from the one person… poor service from the management perspective.

I have used Thrifty at least 5 times a year for the last 20 years.
HOWEVER… do not ever rent a car from this location. You will note that others have said the ‘bait and switch’ replacing a reserved car with a completely different car.
I reserved an SUV. I have a service animal, so this is a requirement. I paid a premium for the car and selected Thrifty rather than one of the cheaper brands.
When we get there, the agent immediately said, ‘We don’t allow dogs”. I pointed out the vest on the my service animal and showed him the documentation.
He said, «Oh, since you ‘call it a service animal’ we will let you have the dog in the car but you are responsible for vacuuming up after him. We have to let people who call their dogs service animals use our cars.»
I pointed out that this was a service animal, I have needed one for the past dozen years and that in a small SUV there would not be much hair as he would be in the back.
The agent then suggest that I rent a pickup truck so the DOG would be more comfortable.
Let that sink in. The temperature outside is in the low 20’s, it is against Washington state law to put a dog in the back of a pickup and, in general, that is massive animal cruelty.
I said, just give me the SUV I reserved and I will be on my way.
He said, «Look sir, I don’t have to rent a car to you and your dog.» (He does have to rent one to my service animal).
I get out to the car (about ¼ mile in 20 degree weather) and it is a sub compact toyota that is totally beaten up.
I go back in and the agent said, «Oh it has four wheel drive so it is an SUV».
I asked how can I fit my service animal and my luggage in that? Also, sub compacts were going for $ 12 a day and SUV’s were $ 55.
He told me he knows more about renting cars since, ‘he works there’
He got pissed off, grabbed my contract ripped it up and left me stranded at midnight in frozen Spokane.
So let’s review:
1. Fraud
2. Massive /​multiple violations of the ADA
3. Discrimination based on disability
4. Suggestion felony animal cruelty as a way to get a car
He then had the nerve to say, «I treat peoples with respect and I expect respect»
Reading the other reviews, I guess this can only be expected.

I returned my rental car to the Spokane, WA airport and while on the plane back home realized that I had left my Motorola blue tooth speaker on the visor. As soon as I landed I called and was told that the cars had not yet been cleaned but they would get back to me. I called again the next morning and was informed that they did not find it. They just lost a customer.

FYI: When someone from Thrifty writes to say how they want to make things right — they’re lying — AGAIN! Jacob M. wrote to say how Thrifty was «so sorry» about my experience and, if I could «provide [Thrifty] with the name that the reservation was under we’d appreciate having the opportunity to correct our mistake. We’d love to take care of you and make amends for the poor experience you had.» Sounds good, right?
It’s just MORE lies! In the two weeks after I sent Thrifty («Jacob M. of Thrifty») the information they requested, it’s been nothing but crickets! Thrifty wants to put forth a face that they «care» about their customers, but they truly don’t! DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE!!!

I don’t usually write reviews, but I wanted to say what great customer service these guys provide. Josh is just one of the people who have helped me and I just wanted to say thank you.

Horrible. This place should be shut down. Rented a car to drive from a simple point A to point B. Went 23 miles round trip and they filed a damage claim against me. The same damage I pointed out initially when I rented it!!!
There is a class action law suit out on thrifty car rentals and the attorney general is aware of Thrifty running a ding scam. Find a lawyer. Fight them. They get beat up cars, then wait till someone rents it and them make the claim on that person.

Interesting place, guy at front desk reminded me of sheldon, on Big Bang, very anal!
Car was fine, tiny, but fine and better than those twits at Alamo, National and Enterprise. One gets taxed up the wazoo in Spokane, darn democrats never met a tax they did not love. Also, Thrifty does not like to rent to locals, I was told.

I wish I would have read the other reviews on here before I rented a car from here in November 2014. I have decided to write this review to warn others to stay clear of this location.
Do not be fooled by the good customer service you may receive when checking out the car because the problems will come after you return it!
Three days after I returned the car my credit card was charged an additional $ 16.99. When I called the main Thrifty car rental phone #, I was told that I needed to contact the location directly because it is privately owned. So I called the Spokane Airport location and I was told that the additional charge was because they had to put an additional 2.15 gallons of gas in the car. I explained that I had topped it off right before I brought it back (less than 2 miles away) and there’s no way that it needed over 2 gallons of gas. The man on the phone told me the name of the attendant on duty during that time and he trusts his employee that nothing happened after I returned it. I also explained that there was no one there to check the car back in but a guy in sitting in the Thrifty booth by the returns told me to leave the key in the ignition and that my boyfriend and I were good to go. The man on the phone asked me to email him the gas receipt for a refund. Three days after emailing a M. Johnson the receipt and dispute email, I followed up with another email to check on the status of the refund but did not get a response.
However a month later I received a claim from an insurance company Thrifty submitted that I returned the car with damage to the front passenger side bumper. I really wish that I would have noted the mileage when I returned the car because that would probably explain a few things. You can see from other reviews on here that I am not the first customer they have done this too and probably not the last. They might be cheaper but $ 51.38 for a 2 day rental has become a $ 1,096.38 bill from their insurance company. Do not rent from here!

I wish I could give zero stars. I hope you will not give this place a dollar, I certainly will not again.
Beware — This Thrifty is privately owned and adheres to no company policy at all.
Before I could even present my problem with the additional fees and gas I was charged for I was threatened by the person on the phone that they could check the security video to show me where I signed up for all this surprising extra charges that ended with me paying over hundred dollars more that what was quoted.
Keep the hundred bucks, I’ll be back to Spokane many times and you will see me there, too, telling your possible and soon to be gone customers about the scam you run.
There are so many other options in the rental car world, just go to the next counter and avoid these shortsighted tricksters so you don’t get scammed like I did.
Lesson learned, keep the change :)
