Wild Walls Climbing Gym

I was visiting from San Diego with my wife and took my wife here on a date. The guy who worked on Dec 28^th at 1100 was a douche bag and was not friendly at all. He was unprofessional and was unwilling to help us. We ended up not staying which was the easiest decision we made all day. I would not recommend this rock climbing gym unless you want a horrible experience with unprofessional co-​workers. We asked him about the knot and he said he wasn’t going to help us and that we couldn’t ask any of the customers either. He did however say that we could try and figure it out on our own. Lol. Thanks Douche. I want to TRY and figure out a knot that I will belay my wife with 40 ft off the ground.

I love the entire atmosphere of this place: the variety and personality of the people, my intro class & teacher, the architecture, as well as the music. I’ve only been here twice, but I’m hooked already. I especially loved the diversity of people at the gym; I’ve seen nearly every age group and level represented from children up to 60 years olds, as well as first time beginners to aged and seasoned climbers. Both times when I’ve walked in it was a bustling & diverse community of friends & climbers.
After the intro class, my teacher said I could climb as much as I want for the rest of the day. It was so fun, I bouldered until my grip was gone not being able to send routes I previously had finished. The next day my forearms hurt so much I couldn’t even text properly and continued to be sore for the next 3 days.
I bought two memberships from Groupon which are both a steal. The first is a one week pass including the first intro class, as well as rental gear for the week. The second is a month long pass where I’ll have to buy my own gear.
If you’re scared about climbing as I had been after a bad experience during an previous intro class, consider watching people boulder online and then come try out bouldering yourself @ Wild Walls. Its very safe and after you do the intro class and ask any questions you have, your fears and doubts should disappear.

Recently came here while on a business trip in Spokane. The wall is great and almost most of the routes are well thought-​out. The problems are definitely not on the sandbag side of things, and you will be hard pressed to find anything above an outside 7. But there are very few awkward movements and the setters seem to have different climbing styles. The crowd is definitely younger than I’m used to, but they’re good company. All 3 sessions over my week-​long trips have been great.

This was one of those «never-​in-​my-​normal-​life-​would-​I-​had-​ever-​considered-​doing-​this» activities. But hey, I’m now a Unilocaler who is no longer shy taking photos of everyone’s just-​served food in public. So why not give it a go? It sounded fun.
Arriving a little late, I hurried through the online waiver form. Now, this was my first time, ever, inside a climbing gym. After receiving my climbing harness, I was directed upstairs to join the class already in progress.
Instructors Bryan and Anna were very welcoming and later proved to be very patient. We were learning «Top Roped Climbing», a form of climbing where a rope is attached from above. Bryan had us practice, repeatedly, the essential and basic climber’s figure eight knot. We were shown and then given practice time on every skill necessary to safely ascend and descend a climbing wall, both as the climber and the belayer, the person managing the rope. The class concluded when all had a chance to climb a route on one of the big, main floor climbing walls, using real climbing shoes!
It was so exciting to be learning something new and fun. I also have a slight fear of heights but I trusted my new Unilocal climbing partners, the equipment, and my newfound philosophy of living in the now, which I think I just did. What a disappointment, and TERRIBLE customer service. My girlfriend from work and I were super excited to go try out rock-​climbing, but the staff at the front desk’s attitude made us feel very uncomfortable so we left. It seemed like if we weren’t Pros, we had no business being there. When we walked in, we stood there for nearly ten minutes before someone came and greeted us. And I knew that short little man saw us because I saw him looking at us the whole time we were standing there. When he came up to us he just said «Whats up?», and looked at us like we were stupid. When I told him that we had never been rock climbing, he said we could only go on certain parts of the wall, (which I understand the liabilities), but I HAD CALLED THE DAY BEFORE and been told that there would be someone to help us climb. Anyways, this is the first review I have ever written because I do believe everyone has their bad days, but the customer service was so bad and it was such a bad experience I felt like other people should know what to expect. I will never try going there again, or recommend it to anyone else.

I just recently took up rock climbing. Before this past summer, the last time I climbed a wall was at 6^th grade science camp, and although I remember the wall being ginormous, I’m sure it was nothing compared to Wild Walls.
This climbing gym is great for all skill levels. If you’re a beginner, you do have to take a class, just so you know not to kill/​injure yourself whilst climbing. (Makes sense.) You’ll need to know how to properly belay your partner and how to tie knots. They also offer shoe and gear rentals, which is handy. Gear can get spendy. All hobbies are when you’re just starting out. I myself have not invested in a pair of climbing shoes yet and I’ve done decent on the routes. But they definitely improve your climbing game, so well worth the moolah.
There’s also a bouldering area where you can practice holds, technique, or just hang around. This spot is a definite go-​to in the winter months so your climbing doesn’t get rusty.

I have never climbed before. That said, I can and do climb now thanks to the phenomenal training class that is available. If you can have Andrew as your instructor. Do It! What a great environment for climbing, a true feather in Spokane’s cap.

I’m an intermediate climber. Only come here if you’re a pro. At least that’s the staff’s attitude here. The douche at the desk is clearly the best rock-​climber on the planet and had absolutely no time or interest in facilitating unsuspecting beginners interested in learning something new. I understand there is a policy, liabilities, etc. I do not understand you’re elitist attitude while (not really) explaining that to first-​time visitors. If you are the guy at the desk on Friday 8÷15÷14 daytime, you suck. I hope the owners read this and fire you. Aren’t climbers supposed to be laid back? Just be nice.

Great place. They have lots of excellent changing routes all the time. Helpful staff, and cool backround music. I like their weights upstairs, but could use a little work. Make sure to check out groupon for deals on this place too.

Great climbing atmosphere with alright music and a pretty good range of routes which they change up monthly or so. The routes range from 5.0−5.12+ with most of them being between 5.7−5.10+ range. They’ve added a new wall and increased the bouldering area over the last year for more routes. Plus the new flooring is so much softer and nicer than the old floor.
I would like it if there were more crack routes, but I doubt if they will add any since hardly anyone climbs the few they have now.
The bouldering area is set up now with so high ball climbs that walk off along with some friction routes and overhanging cave routes.
This place can be intimidating if you are trying to learn to climb and are by yourself. It’s best to go with a friend so you can learn to belay as well. Most of the climbers there are pretty relaxed and easy to talk to or get get to belay from.
The bottom line is this place isn’t as good as climbing outside but it will definitely curb your climbing fix and keep you in shape during the winter.

The best climbing gym in town, hands down. Great routes for all skill levels. They have a wide variety of classes available, including a youth program. The youth instructors were great with the kids. Definitely give Wild Walls a go if your interested in learning or want a good indoor climbing gym.

I love the staff and the atmosphere here. They are always making improvements to the gym and I love watching it evolve. I’m definitely a regular in the winter months.
