The Opal Man

I am visiting Madison from California and have been obsessed with opals for the last year. My very thoughtful friend did some research and recommended that we check out The Opal Man.
I cannot think of a better place to purchase opal jewelry. They have an incredible selection in their jewelbox-​sized space and their staff is friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. I was impressed to learn that they cut their opals in-​house and work with a variety of jewelers to create pieces to fit a wide range of styles and budgets.
I purchased a pair of opal earrings, and can’t be happier that my first piece of opal jewelry was purchased from a place that is truly one-​of-​a-​kind. I only wish that I could buy future pieces from The Opal Man without having to get on a plane.

If you love opals as I do then you probably know how delicate (and deeply mysterious and beautiful) they are. So not just anybody can be trusted with your beloved opals. You can imagine how distressed I was to have an opal ring made (in Montana) and two of the opals dropped out and a third opal was damaged. At that point I remembered The Opal Man in Spring Green WI. I decided to take the ring to him for evaluation and repair. He had the most gorgeous opals to choose from and he was able to smooth out the chip in the damaged opal. All of this for an incredibly reasonable price. My ring is now fixed and I am a super happy camper. The Opal Man is the best!

On a whim, I turned into the parking lot of the Opal Man store during a weekend visit in the area. My birthstone is the opal and I’ve never liked it. Never. Not, that is, until I stepped foot inside the Opal Man store. I had no idea that there were so many beautiful varieties of this stone.
Within very little time, I had selected a stone and a ring style. The work all had to be done by hand as neither the stone nor the ring style were standard. While the cost was a little more than I initially wanted to pay, I am glad that I did. The process took a few weeks, during which the staff stayed in contact with me regularly to keep me posted on the ring’s progress.
Just today, the ring arrived. I opened the box with just a little apprehension, wondering if the ring could possibly meet my expectations. I’m happy to say that it meets and exceeds. I will wear it regularly and proudly, that from a person who doesn’t wear jewelry. The unique nature and beauty of this piece attest to the skills of the craftsmen and women at the Opal Man.
The staff are wonderful. Their work is impeccable.

My first visit to this lovely store in Spring Green. What a fabulous selection of opals. The owner was very informative in explaining the difference in the gems. I had a difficult time choosing a pair of earrings. Decided on a set of white opals in a sterling silver setting. Very pleased and hope to visit again.

This is a store specializing in opals from around the world. Nice selection of rings, bracelets and necklaces. Friendly staff. I did make the mistake of purchasing a ring for Mother’s day which did not fit my wife and they refused to exchange it a short time later… so you need to be certain of the size and walk away if you do not know the exact size of the piece you need.
