Wonderful ambience!
We attended a baby shower there on 4÷30÷2016. It was a beautiful place located away from all the city madness. Quiet and peaceful. The Whitefish was delicious and the staff were awesome.
Definitely a place I will return to.

Wow, I was completely blown away by how good it was. I had pork chops, with a apple glaze that’s was out of this world. Bought 2 bottles of wine, 2 dinners an appetizer, 2 desserts, tip and the bill was under 200 dollars. Definitely be back again. Service was great too!

Went here tonight and was very impressed with everything — ambiance, décor, food and service. Everything was phenomenal! Had the Parmesan Crusted White Fish and it didn’t disappoint. The Flourless Chocolate Lava Cake was so good I wanted another. The service was some of the best I’ve had in a long time; no question was too dumb and no request was too much. I can’t wait to go back again!

My wife and I were looking for a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary and decided to make the drive to the Arboreal. We went on a weekday night and were surprised to find that there was no reservation needed and the restaurant was mostly empty. The service was excellent (friendly, attentive, knowledgeable) and the food was as good as you will find in the area. The only downside I can see during the whole experience was the bathrooms were oddly reminiscent of a very clean coney island. Dinner for two with a bottle of wine was about $ 100 and well worth it.

We had the surf and turf and the crab & lobster ravioli. It was delicious and we would recommend. Restaurant is located in an industrial area which is unusual for such s nice restaurant. Will be back!

Wonderful dinner tonight, we went for our 18^th anniversary with our son, had tournedos Oscar, filet mignon, and a thai salmon, chocolate mousse… All were done perfectly.
Wow, updating our review three years later, for our 21^st anniversary, the new ambiance is great and the food lives up to all the preceding owner/​managers. We had a great evening and they threw in an anniversary dessert after our filet mignon. Stuffed mushrooms were wonderful as well, we will keep on going back!

Was very impressed with the food and the large portions. Overall a very nice atmosphere and experience. Ottawa counties finest dining possible.

OK, you West Michigan people! Get thee to the Arboreal! Beautiful shrimp cocktail, filets done to perfection, great wine list, attentive service – what more do you want? They have some small plates for the smaller appetite, but I like having some leftovers! Excellent meal in every aspect, check this place out!

Our party of five had the pleasure of dinning at the restaurant on a Tuesday evening. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was outstanding. I had the rack of Lamb and it was perfectly done as I requested. Everyone else said the same thing about their order. We will definitely return. The new ownership has returned the food and wine to the quality reputation it had once enjoyed. It is wonderful to have an excellent restaurant in this area once again.

We were looking for a really great restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We found the Arboreal Inn and it was wonderful! From the amazing mussels in garlic wine sauce (best garlic bread ever to dip with), the Lobster bisque, to the entrees, it couldn’t have been better. I had the crab legs and they were sweet and delicious. My husband had the salmon and said he would definitely get it again. Monday’s are ½ price bottles of wine, and there is a good selection to choose from. Our server, Rebecca, was wonderful. Very sweet and attentive. We will ask for her again. All in all and really great restaurant. Quaint lovely dining room with a private area for parties. Can’t wait to come back!

This is the first time we’ve been back to the Arboreal Inn under it’s new ownership (Jan 2013) and management. We were very pleased with the overall experience — very good (and friendly) service, great food, a nice wine selection, and for me, an outstanding selection of craft beers! What a treat — we’ll be back!

Glad the Arboreal is open again. Mixed grill special was very good. Really liked the Lamb Chops.
Many will like that the old favorite Fillets Oscar is still on the menu.

First time there, we enjoyed it for the most part, but the last couple of times, food was OK, but service was not. Made us feel like they were doing us a favor letting us eat there. Done

Food quality was good. Service terrible. No attention to detail. Did not have coffee made. Had to ask. Beer selection was miniscule. Had Bud products, Heineken and Labatts. Labatts blue label beer $ 4.50 a bottle. Seemed a bit high for a cheap beer.

My wife and I just went to the Arboreal Inn and I’m not sure I could be more disappointed. I’d heard good things about it, but it sure didn’t live up. A few comments from the the night to give you an idea of how it went — My wife: «I wonder if Gordon Ramsey is interested in taking this place on». Me: «What’s the opposite of fine? Coarse?» The lady at the table next to us after we left: «We’re going to get Chinese».
Now on to the specifics. When you walk in the place, no one is there to greet you. As it was our first (and probably last) time there, we just stood there waiting to be directed/​seated. It probably wasn’t more than 2 – 3 minutes, but it sure feels like a long time when you’re standing there. They really need to invest in a host (ess) or at least a sign that says check in at the bar. That was the first sign that maybe we should go elsewhere.
Next, I asked if they had anything on tap, and the waitress replied that they had bottles. «Do you have a list?» I asked.
«I’ll go check to see what we have… Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Honey Brown.» UGH! Seriously, that is your beer selection?

My wife ordered a Captain and Coke and I watch the bartender pour the drink, and he opens a two-​liter. «That’s weird.»
On to the food. I actually highly recommend what I ordered (thus the two stars — not one). I had the chicken. It was well prepared and the champagne sauce was pretty nice. I don’t recommend it if you don’t like salt though. My wife got the Tournadoes/​Salmon combo and it was not impressive. Both the steak and the salmon were overdone and when told about it, the waitress said something about having more customers than they expected. Hmm.
Finally the bill came. Luckily we had a
gift certificate. My two beers were $ 4.25 each. For Honey Brown? The ticket called them «imports». Ha!
To sum it up, even with the gift certificate, it was way too expensive. The service was mediocre at best, and their beer selection was a bunch of the suckiest sucks that ever sucked.

If you are looking for a restaurant that has not changed in over 40 years, this is your place. The food is bland and uninspiring, the décor is original and the wait staff leaves little to be desired. The menu is limited and pricey — and does not live up to the term fine dining in any way. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Arboreal Inn is a traditional restaurant that is somewhat hidden away. The food is very fresh and made from scratch.
They offer an Early Bird dinner special M-​F until 6 p.m. which is a fantastic deal. The special is $ 28 for two people and includes a shared bottle of wine (or a dessert) and for each diner a soup or salad, choice of small entrée and one side (starch or vegetables). The desserts here are just okay, so we typically opt for the wine.
The ambiance is classic and rather formal, but a great spot to enjoy a great deal on an early dinner or to celebrate a special occasion anytime.

The waitress showed up at the table after waiting a bit… I wished she had just stayed wherever it was she had been hiding as she reeked of cigarettes and I almost gagged. Her personality was deadpan and sullen but she had this smarmy exaggerated «friendly» voice that drove me nuts. The food (tournados, mussels) was mediocre and expensive. If we had a different waitress I might give it another chance, but the last time I was in there I waited over ten minutes and nobody was at the bar or in the dining rooms to even greet me– and two tables of customers were sitting blank faced waiting for someone to show up! (must have been out smoking cigarettes) I walked out… wont return

This restaurant has good food, and a quiet atmosphere (they even had an awesome guitar player/​singer in the main dining area by the fireplace when I was there last). It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it if you’re looking for a quaint place in a small town.
Update: I went here for a second time and was not so impressed, neither was my companion. I dropped rating to a 3 due to this. The drink selection was very poor and the service was less than average… the food was also very average…
