Amaya Springs Health Care Center

If you had a minus star rating! that is what I would give this facility. It was a nightmare having to keep my parent there for nine days. The housekeeping staff and CNA’s were very nice and seemed more concerned than the professional staff. I was never introduced to the director of the facility. My mother had never been on oxygen before and briefly needed it during a hospitalization for pneumonia before being admitted. They never took her off for the entire time she was there. (After she came home, she never used it again, nor has she needed to since.). I requested a bed alarm because my mother had fallen twice and broken her hip, pelvis and arm getting out of bed on her own. They did not put the alarm on for two days because they said they didn’t have batteries. Myself or a caregiver stayed with her from 9:00 a.m. until bedtime because we were afraid to leave her alone. She was never seen by a doctor the entire nine days. Although she was supposed to be taken off a medication, I found out they continued to give it to her by mistake. The food was cold and horrible. The physical therapy was outside in a patio area consisting of dirty furniture with torn upholstery and leaves and dirt everywhere. I took her out without a medical discharge because I was horrified by what was happening. This facility should be shut down. Do not take a loved one there, please!

I called to get information and had the worst customer service ever. I talked to two people because the first person couldn’t answer my questions. They made me feel as if I was wasting their time.

My mom went there with COPD (that was under control) and two fractured knee caps. She was hoping to learn how to get up and out of bed. Skilled nursing facilities are suppose to stop accepting patients if they suspect flu symptoms from their current patients; that is what reputable establishments do!
Instead, they had a flu outbreak and stuck my mom with the sick group. She caught the flu there. Instead of sending her to the hospital or at least giving her TAMIFLU within the first 48 hours of signs she was catching flu, they just took a culture and waited.
I spent days trying to get her out of there as she called me after being there for 14 hours, begging me to get her out; I finally got approval from her insurance to send her to Castle Manor, a much cleaner establishment. By then, however, she developed 104 degree fever and had pneumonia. She had to spend 10 days in the hospital, recovering from flu and pneumonia, thanks to Presidio.
The food was horrible as well.

My grandfather just got moved to Presidio not too long ago. I was very hesitant at first because that was his first time in a nursing facility. However, the experience turned out fairly well and it’s also a plus that Presidio is only a five minute drive from my house! Kathryn, the woman in charge of admissions, was very welcoming and made sure that my grandfather and I were comfortable during the transferring process. The staff over at Presidio has done an amazing job with everything so far! No complaints!

I was alittle hesitant transferring my grandfather over to this facility from the hospital being that this is our first time going to a skilled nursing facility. The admission director met me and my grandpa at the hospital and she was very helpful. She answered all of our questions and concerns. Everyone there from the nursing staff, housekeeping, and administration were all very friendly and attentive. they kept my in constant communication with my grandfathers care. I liked the fact that this is a much smaller facility (about 50 i think?) so it wasnt too overwhelming for my grandfather. My grandpa did the physical, occupational and speech therapy there and he has quickly got back to his feet. He will coming back home with me in a few days and I cannot thank Presidio enough! I would definately reccommend this place for any of your loved ones.
