Specialties
San Diego Wireless Internet Service Provider (SDWISP) is a Community Fixed Wireless Internet Service. We are tied to a local fiber optic network, giving us the ability to offer the rural communities of South-East San Diego with high speed, quality internet service including higher data caps and less latency than any other provider.
History
Established in 2007.
Eric Williams is a native San Diegan and started his telecommunications company Williams Tel Data in 1987. He is an avid outdoorsman and has continued to be actively involved in Mutual Aid Communications since the early 1990’s. While providing the telephone equipment to the Dulzura Community Center for the 2007 Harris Fire victims, he saw the need for quality internet service to the rural communities of South-East San Diego. He grasped required technology aspects, found a location to broadcast internet to Harbison Canyon and during Christmas week of 2007 SDWISP was born.
Lisa Sosey with SOSey Bookkeeping and Tax Services, also a native San Diegan and friends with Eric since their junior year of high school, has been the office manager and bookkeeper for WTD and SDWISP since 2005. In 2010, as the needs and customer base grew, Jamul native Keith Hazel with Hazel Communications joined to grow the networks, perform equipment maintenance/upgrades, and install new customers.
Meet the Business Owner
Eric W.
Business Owner
Growing up Eric was found in a shed in his La Mesa backyard that was converted into a workshop tinkering on his bike or messing with CB Radios or other electronic equipment. At the age of 19, Eric applied his interest and skills in communications equipment and technology to start Williams Tel-Data (WTD). Since the early 1990’s, Eric remains active helping people via Amateur Radio and Mutual Aid Communications.
As an avid camper with a strong appreciation for the outdoors and community service, WTD provided communication equipment needed at the Crest Recovery Center for victims of the 2003 Cedar Fires and to the Dulzura Community Center for the Harris Fire victims. Seeing the need for reliable, quality internet service to these remote communities, he learned and implemented the necessary technology aspects and started SDWISP.
