Shadow Point

Let’s start at the beginning I never viewed the initial apartment I moved into so upon moving in, it seems like like your regular average dilapidated, you need a place that is ridiculously affordable and this is your last resort kind of thing, but think again. You would be better off staying in a bando, a trap house or moving back in with mom or dad. Not only did the air conditioning unit smell like a rancid, cakedup urinal cakes, fecal matter and dong urine. This was literally an unhealthy environment all together and for weeks we were told someone would come by and switch the unit out … think again. I keep my house immaculate because that’s how I was raised, however, good luck combating the roaches and water bugs that crawl from any nook and cranny. Even the exterminators who stop by every Wednesday can’t get the situation under control. ALSO this is the first time I ever lived in an apartment where exterminators were needed weekly (obviously there’s a bigger underlying issue.) The gym is a complete and utter wreck, seriously over half of the equipment isn’t functional. The laundry rooms are never unlocked at the alleged times they are supposed to be which is a real inconvenience … I shouldn’t have to call to get people to do their job. My wife and I are completely fed up and ready to move out of this hell hole. Also there was a homeless camp in the parking lot, the parking spaces are too small and the front office is never open. Also the main office in general is a joke. Do you have a question about your rent that wasn’t taken yet Good Luck communicating with someone they are never there at their alleged hours. Rent is literally taken out four days after you pay it online. Then they tried to charge a late fee like we were the ones who messed up. Also you pay for the washers and dryers prior to use but do you think you get your money back if they stop working … nope.

Not really sure how my last review disappeared from here, so I’ll write another one.
I lived here for two years, and the only reason is giving 2 stars is because it could be worse. I’m living it now, I know. I’ll start with the most major problems that I encountered.
The kids. Every day that I would come home, there was a group of no less than a dozen kids, whom I can only assume we’re orphans, terrorizing the parking lots. I’ve seen it all there. Kids sliding down car windshields, kids trying to lift cars up, playing soccer in the parking lot, water balloon fights in the laundry room and fitness room, I could go on. Then there was this group of young adults, the kind that roll dice, sitting on my car, rolling dice, and smoking weed. Came home one day and 4 of them were sitting on the middle of the hood of some dudes new camero. I reported nearly every one of these incidents to absolutely no benefit. Instead I was forced to give up my nice covered parking spot (the dice hangout) for some crap spot right next to the dumpster, and for the same extra cost, which brings me to my next point…
Shopping carts. The complex is within walking distance of 2 large grocery stores. Great for everyone, especially those lazy scumbags that steal the shopping carts and bring them back to the apartment complex, your future neighbors. Guess where the shopping carts go? Well my parking space of course. I don’t need it while I’m at work. Apparently what I do need is to move a f’ing shopping cart out of my space every day when I get home. Sometimes multiple carts, because douchebags tend to follow after other douchebags. I always used to throw them in the dumpster. Someone else’s problem now. That was my way of contributing to the «community». A screwed up version of paying it forward, I guess.
My upstairs neighbor apparently thought stuff disappeared as if by magic down the down. I had my kitchen flood about 6 times from that. Disgusting. It also sounded like they opened a bowling alley upstairs. All day. All night. There was a couple times that I really thought my neighbor was going to come crashing through my ceiling and crush me.
But like I said, it could be worse. It’s pretty spacious and a good layout. The rent went up by approximately 10% when I renewed my lease. It was going up again if I would have stayed.

Take your deposit and run!
I was so excited to move into my first new apartment (I’ve always shared with family or a significant other) only to be disappointed within the first month of living in it. First off when we moved in our cupboard were a light brown with BLUE hue on them rather than the Dark brown we were told before signing the lease. (CHEAP) The flooring was laid cooked between the kitchen and living room. Our living room carpet was dirty and the carpet in my room was stained with shards of glass in it. I got glass in my foot Twice while moving in.
All the children there are unsupervised at all hours. They jump on tables, climb on the washing machines, run into things with the shopping carts and scream rather than talk.
I could keep going on as to why I left Shadow Point but I doubt that will get me a call back from the office regarding my deposit any sooner.

I lived here for two yrs and I am actually thinking about breaking my lease next month to get out of here… as previously stated by others who have reviews the kids are horrible I don’t know who «Gavin and Bryan «are but I hear their mother calling them all hrs of the night… Trash is everywhere in the parking lot and laundry room .its not a gated area so don’t be surprised to find homeless people digging through the trash or drinking forties all hours of the night in the parking area… I can handle those things but my biggest issue is how unprofessional the office management is. There have been three incidents to were its been ridiculous and that’s why I am moving and writing this review. Incident number one… I put a work order in online for my toliet that was leaking to much water into the bowl… didn’t hear anything for two weeks, they actually sent me a review from the property management on how was my work order visit… so I filled out the survery telling them I couldnt review because nobody had gotten back to me through email or phone call… that night someone came to work on it. I mean I know we are all busy but two weeks after placing a work order request is ridiculous. Incident two: I changed my bank account and I am enrolled for the rent to come out of my bank account automatically. For whatever reason one month it only took out $ 700. I noticed it and contacted the office and talked to Erika… I explained what had happened and asked her why the full amount didn’t come out. instead of being professional I got an attitude and she actually told me «its probably because you don’t have the funds»…how rude! I had the funds! It was a glitch in their system and then she told me «if you don’t pay today you will have to pay the $ 75 late fee»…for their mistake! If I didn’t catch it I’m pretty sure I would have been charged the late fee even though I have lived here for two yrs and have never been late for my rent… Incident number three: their was an issue with my water bill I left a message on a monday again didn’t hear anything back. so on a Thursday I actually called and again talked to Erika. Once Again so rude! She kept cutting me off, she wasn’t understanding my concern, and she has this horrible «I am right you are wrong «Tone in her voice. She didn’t offer a solution, didn’t offer a why this happened so I ended up hanging up because we were going in circles. So morale of the story don’t live here you work to hard for your money and you deserve a professional environment when it comes to where u live.

This place is awful! I would give it no stars if possible. If you can, live elsewhere! After living here for two years it’s time to leave. This past year everything has run into the ground.
The complex is loud ²⁴⁄₇ from unattended children running and screaming, to people playing music way too loud in the middle of the night. The security is a joke. It’s outsourced to a call center so it can take hours for people to show up for a noise complaint, which I’m pretty sure they never actually do anything about anyways. At 3 am you don’t exactly want to wait 2+hours for them to tell someone to turn down the music.
The other major issue here for me is the condition of the complex. There are holes in my wall from a previous tenants towel rack (which I thought they used people’s deposit to fix that kind of stuff when they move out). And in our bathroom the knobs on the sink don’t even match! The community laundry room always is a nightmare and it’s so disgusting I don’t want to wash my clothes in there but I have no choice. I also washed a white sweater three times and now it’s tan. GROSS! The pool always has food or debris in it and WADS of hair. It has grossed me out so much I will not use it. No one picks up their dog poop, and they let their dogs poop in the middle of the sidewalk! Every morning some kind of animal has peed on my front door, and homeless people come up to the porch to steal your shoes or whatever you have out.
The area is not safe. There are homeless people all over all the time, two halfway houses nearby and cars getting broken into and stolen, domestic violence issues… The cops seem to be here all the time.
These assholes even had my car towed from my own parking spot, then when confronted about it, denied the whole thing (but the towing place said it was them.)
Also our apartment had an a pretty bad ant problem and they were coming in from the outside wall. We had to call several times for them to take care of it. They put «ant bait» all over our apartment and after it dried it is now hard as a rock and it will not come off.
Do yourself all a favor and live anywhere else!

Seemingly the nicest landlords, quiet, pet friendly… seriously thought this place was going to be perfect for my boyfriend, dog, and I. As soon as they took our deposit they became almost completely unresponsive to our needs. Kids would throw basketballs, screaming, laughing at the top of their lungs, and I witnessed them crashing into the windows of the apartments on ground level. Several times I called the office and they said they would take care of it, but the only time this echoing craziness stopped was when I went down there and told them myself.
Also, the whole complex is infested with roaches. It’s the most disgusting thing and several times I called for them to come out and spray and they would not accomodate my full-​time working schedule. After talking to several of my neighbors at the time, they all had roaches too. We are very clean people, it just happened the people below us were filthy and abandoned their apartment; all the rotten food and kitchen itself led to ants and roaches from their kitchen up to ours.
They claim the apt. takes care of a percentage of the water/​trash bills. I believe is was like 15% or something which we initially thought was awesome! No it actually isn’t because the way it works is one huge bill for the building and the complex «pays for 15% of that» supposedly, then divides the rest according to square footage of your apartment. Ridiculous when one of our apt rooms was vacant the entire time, we were never home, and paying for 980 sq ft percentage of the entire complex’s bill? Can’t believe we did that for a year.
Lastly, they will find any and all excuse to keep as much of your security deposit as possible, so beware. You will automatically be paying at least $ 150 for their cleaning services.
These are all things one should know prior to locking themselves into a contract with this place. Plus they say rent can only go up 1% after the lease? Well $ 250 is not 1% of $ 1089. And there was no way we were going to pay $ 2200 for month-​to-​month either.
