I have used Spring Valley Automotive for 10 plus years and their service is great Sometimes as car owners we don’t like hearing… you failed to blah, blah, blah and it will cost you. Always listen to a good mechanic and they will save you money.
These guys are direct and honest.

My check engine light came on and I decided to bring my car in after my friend Carolyn recommended this place. Leonard was so friendly and very helpful. After finding the cause of why my check engine light came on, he informed me he was looking for an inexpensive part to help save me money. I really appreciated that he told me he didn’t want to sell me something I didn’t need and that’s why it took a bit longer for the proper part to be found for what my car needed. I am due for some upcoming maintenance and will definitely be bringing my car back to get that taken care of. Thank you so much, gentlemen! :)

I brought my 1961 Chevy Viking School Bus to Spring Valley Automotive on the recommendation of another mechanic who couldn’t work on a vehicle this size and age. I was a little nervous because I was restoring the bus for commercial use and knew my bus was going to need a lot of work. I’m mechanically inclined, but definitely not a mechanic, so I could only hope that these guys are honest and that they would do good work.
I was immediately impressed that Ed and Leonard are friendly and straight-​forward in communicating with me about the mechanical needs and condition of my bus, but I knew that only time would tell me whether or not they were honest and did good work.
It’s been over six months now that I have been working with Spring Valley Automotive, and they have done the following work on my classic bus: new brake system including installation of dual master cylinder (original system was outdated and unsafe) and brake booster, replaced manual transmission with automatic transmission and adjusted drive shaft, replaced radiator, installed inverter with dual-​battery system, lubed chassis and performed comprehensive safety inspection.
This is a unique vehicle for which parts are hard to find and sometimes not available, but Ed has found the parts and fabricated brackets and fittings where necessary. His work is always solid and looks good. The work is guaranteed and Ed takes pride in what he does. For example, having had the brake system done I brought the bus back in for transmission work when Ed noticed that there was a little bit of brake fluid on the inside of the front left wheel. He said that there was a potential problem and that he would need to take everything apart and check the seals. He did so and replaced a faulty seal at no charge! HE identified the problem, HE offered to fix it, and HE did so without charging any money.
In another instance I had the radiator replaced with a custom-​sized modern version (it’s a HUGE radiator). When the new radiator came in it was a little bit smaller than what Ed had ordered. Rather than installing the smaller radiator and «making it work,» which he could have easily done, he returned the radiator to the manufacturer and demanded that they send the proper size. They charged him more for the larger radiator, but he ate the cost difference so my cost would remain as he quoted it.
The more I have gotten to know Ed and Leonard, the more I consider them my friends. They understand that my funds are limited, and they help guide me toward restoring my vehicle in the safest, most cost-​effective way. They are not the cheapest mechanics in town, but they are certainly not the most expensive either. They do quality work at a fair price and stand behind that work — which is exactly what I’m looking for in an auto mechanic!

Great Place! My family has been using SVA for many years. Ed and Leonard and their mechanics are professional, honest, and friendly. They get right to the car’s problem and fix it. SVA is thorough and completes the work in a timely manner. I highly recommend Spring Valley Automotive for anyone’s vehicle’s maintenance or repair.

I have had my ’69 Charger worked on at Spring Valley automotive for almost 10 years. The quality of their work speaks for itself, and on the rare occasion that they make a mistake or there’s an issue they take care of me and the car. SVA also does some customization and modifications that other shops will either refuse to do, or will charge a high amount to have done. I will say their prices are not the lowest, but the trust I have with them is priceless, and I will not take my cars to anyone else if I can help it…

Leonard is a JOKE! This joke of a repair shop, I took my VW there and they kept calling me telling me its going to be another $ 75 for the next hour because the rear brakes kept snapping off the retainer springs. «We need another hour with this car because whoever put the brakes together didn’t do it right. My mistake was I kept saying just fix it. So after $ 1000 and I couldn’t I have to push it on a trailer and take it somewhere else. Now just so you know, this was a brand new build that never had brake fluid put in it. So all I thought I needed was fluid pumped in through the system. So all the brake systems were brand new! So I took it to a TRANSMISSION shop in national city and they told me why did they (SPRING VALLEY AUTOMOTIVE) start cutting springs and pins ITS MISSING A WASHER THAT HOLDS THE WHEEL AWAY FROM THE BRAND NEW BRAKE SYSTEM!!! SO IF YOU WANT TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY AND HAVE IT MORE JACKED UP THEY WHEN YOU BROUGHT IT THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!

My daughter’s Chrysler le Baron over heated and she took it to this place. Leonard put a new thermostat and housing on. Charged a 150 dollars and sent her on her way. She broke down on the freeway 2 miles away. The car overheated. It was the water pump. Leonard did show us the old housing to show that he replaced it. But what we saw was that it was a little pitted and could of simply been sanded.
