I’ve loved this hole in the wall ever since it opened. It’s family owned and we were lucky to have our orders taken by the owner’s children (it’s culture NOT child labor). Their hand-​made traditional pasta is incredible and the hand made tile mosaics by one of the owners gives Capri a very down to earth atmosphere.
Order from their chalkboard only and bring a bottle of wine or two ;)

I’m sitting right now at Capri, and I hate to give this review… But I really can’t wait to leave. I’m writing this now so I don’t forget every terrible detail. Oh, and I’m trying to be delicate with my words… trying!
I had a long day at work, haven’t seen my sister or my father in awhile, and we have some family and friends in town. My father suggested Capri since he loves this place and wanted to share it with everyone. He’s a regular, and likes to come here with a bottle of wine and relax. I’ve been here before and it was a pleasant experience, so why not?
We had a table of about 6 (eventually turned into 8). The first time I went, the owner was friendly and the food was pretty tasty, albeit a bit salty. Their mussels are really good though! It’s a relaxing place to wind down; quaint and not too fancy. My 2^nd time here was toooooootally off. Food was okay (a bit salty still), but the experience was AWFUL. I don’t really give one star reviews that much because I like giving places the benefit of the doubt, but I cannot resist the urge to Unilocal when I need to express how horrendous the service is.
All the other servers seem nice, but we got stuck with the rude one (but of course). She had a sour attitude, and when she was done taking our order (impatiently so), she snaps, «so is that it?!» I know this is a mom and pop place, and I’m not expecting top notch white glove service, but jeez! She never came by to ask how our food was (I was there for 4 hours, and I kid you not! SHE NEVER CAME), our table wasn’t bussed (we had to stack our own plates), water wasn’t refilled at all, and she gave us dirty plates and wine glasses. We brought 4 bottles of wine, and she opened one and promptly left the wine opener on the table. My dad didn’t see it, so when he asked if she could grab us a wine opener, she snapped, «I got it for you already!» At this point, I was terrified of her.
Anyways, we had 2 extra guests come in and when we asked if it was possible to accommodate them, her reply was, «I dunno. If you can find a table. But we don’t have any left,» and walked away. I looked around and there were several open tables. But hey, cool. No tables? That’s fine. I’ve been a server and I’ve worked at a restaurant for a long time, so I know how crazy Friday nights get and you may have reservations. Still, that doesn’t mean you leave guests standing, wondering what to do. You do what you can to make them comfortable. Without customers, you don’t have service.
So we scooted around and grabbed two extra chairs. She knew we huddled around to make room for our 2 new guests, yet she didn’t offer any extra plates. We had to request it from her and when we did, she seemed SO bothered by it. Look, I know you probably have other things to do on a Friday night than serve people, so I guess I apologize for coming in and being a customer?
Ok so at this point, I was still terrified of her and eh… I just had no appetite. Like zero. Her attitude was just so nasty, and MAYBE I could have looked past it if she was completely in the weeds, bussing her own tables and running food. She barely lifted a finger. Plus, there’s only so much eye rolling and scoffing I can take.
The last straw was when she argued with my father. Regardless if he ordered wrong or somehow the entrees got mixed up, you shouldn’t «scold» a customer. If you can’t diffuse the situation, get the manager. Somehow we received 3 or 4 wedding soups, but my father insisted he ordered something else. Okay, okay. Mistakes happen. When he expressed this to her, and I witnessed this along with my entire table, she argued back and said, «NO… You ordered THIS, THIS, and THIS!» and had the most disgusted look on her face. The talk back ensued and at this point, I am so over her attitude. I have NEVER had to witness someone scolding a customer like that, much less my own dad. Very disappointing. Shouldn’t you, at the very least, graciously bow out and say «oops»? Unnerving and just bad etiquette.
I just wasted 4 hours of my night at this place. Ugh.
Oh, and we were the only table of «minorities», and the hostess, along with what I assume to be the manager, walked by every table asking how their food was, refilling their water (basically GIVING THEM SERVICE) aside from ours. I wish I was exaggerating. And what’s worse, I know the manager saw the chaos with the wedding soups, and she didn’t come over to try and remedy the situation. Didn’t even bat an eye. She was pretty attentive to all the other tables. I don’t want to say what this kind of exclusion was, but I think we all know…
The treatment from our server was terrible and we will not return. Sad, because I enjoy supporting mom and pop places, and Capri was one of them.
The musician is awesome though. My dad enjoys listening to him and sharing stories. So I guess if you decide to go, go for him.
Check please. ASAP!

The more I eat here, the more wonderful things I continue to discover. I still enjoy my old standby, the Mari&Monti which is now a regular menu item with their homemade pappardelle pasta, the fresh mussels, fresh clams, and the clam sauce to go with it. The quattro gnocchi formaggi is another awesome dish to try. Indeed they use 4 cheeses for their gnocchi which makes for an incredibly rich and decadent dish. It can be too creamy, so make sure you order something else in addition to this dish to break up the creamy endeavor. Regardless of what dish I get, I always get the wedding soup to start things off right. A nice hearty chicken-​broth-​based soup with flavorful meatballs, vegetables, and tiny balls of pasta. I always end the night here with the panna cotta. So sweet, creamy and decadent. One special that came up recently (mainly due to me hassling them about this), was the squid ink pasta (black tagliatelle). Such an incredible dish and by far my favorite dish here! When it comes out, yes it does have a faint fishy odor due to the squid ink, but it quickly goes away. Fortunately it doesn’t taste fishy. It tastes like their regular homemade pastas with a subtle light taste of squid. Tossed into the mix are fresh tomatoes, mussels, and calamari (of course). It’s a light and delicious dish. Best way to describe it is «lively». Keep an eye out for this dish as a special or pester Barbara about making this dish. One other note. The dishes here are authentic northern Italian, so it tends to be lighter and somewhat bland in flavor which suits me fine. If you’re idea of Italian food is NY-​style, you might want to come here with a different set of expectations because this is nothing like your grandma’s lasagna you had in Little Italy off Mulberry St.

To be honest, the place doesn’t look like much from the outside, and the inside looks almost too casual. Dont be fooled, however. They know what they are doing! The service was prompt and pleasant, answering any questions and making wonderful suggestions. The food, wow. An absolutely perfect Caesar salad, gnocchi that was tender and flavorful in a rich cheese sauce, and lucious tiramisu. Zero complaints here! We will be back, and next time we will make a reservation and remember to BYOB!

After a grueling day of travel with a large group and small kids that included a cancelled flight, we all agreed to rent a car and drive home 3 hours instead of camping out at the airport. That’s how we found Capri and we are so stoked it happened!
We walked in to inquire if they were BYOB (yes — they are) and they immediately helped us out on where to go and find some wine. The ladies were SO super sweet and told us they would have a table waiting for us when we got back (and they did!)
EVERYTHING was spectacular! Half our group were vegetarians and half of us love meat. They changed a couple things on the menu to accommodate our Vegetarians and gave lots of other options. We tried several apps, entrees, salads, and specials and everybody was thoroughly happy. We asked about dessert ahead of time and they whipped up a fresh batch of mascarpone so we could have tiramisu and it was the best any of us ever had!
It made our horrible day a huge highlight and bright patch of sunshine. We will always return if anywhere near here.

Got the gnocchi with grilled chicken on the side, just great. The gnocchi is creamy and buttery, so good! Chicken was juicy and flavorful. Friendly staff. I don’t even know what’s in gnocchi, but it’s delicious!

Ordered takeout for lunch today and it was super delish!
Got the Linguine with Clam sauce and a mini-​tiramisu.
Both were sooo good and I am so happy to have found them because I was looking for a place where I can get my linguine with clam sauce fix!
And seriously the tiramisu is to DIE FOR!!! I am already wanting more!!!

We’ve been twice and absolutely LOVED it both times. The décor could be a little better, but food, service, and prices are EXCELLENT!!! Don’t be dissuaded by the location or surroundings, this place is absolutely one of the best restaurants around!

I didn’t know Capri existed until recently joining a Facebook group dedicated to local foodies sharing their experiences in all things food (home cooked, local restaurants, etc.). I don’t eat Italian out frequently (maybe 2 or 3 times a year) but when we got in the mood for it recently we decided to check out Capri. They had a large following, plenty of positive reviews, and a manager who genuinely cared about feedback and sought to make things right when they didn’t go well.
My wife and I decided to split the pasta trio which allows you to choose 3 pastas, all of which come out generously portioned and enough to serve 2 or 3. Great opportunity to sample 3 dishes while only paying the cost of 2! We had the Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi, Tagliatelle ai Funghi, and one dish off the specials menu (forgive me if I get the name wrong) which I believe was the Lafayette Linguine (crawfish pasta).
The dishes were all distinctly different and delicious. The pasta in each were fresh and perfectly cooked. Seriously enjoyed the mushroom pasta, the crawfish pasta and four-​cheese gnocchi both stood heads and tails above it though. Both are quite exceptional dishes. We’re talking serious flavor explosions here. When you bite into the first piece of gnocchi and the complexity of the 4 cheeses bursts onto your tastebuds, you’re going to savor every bite through the rest of the dish!
On top of the great food, the service was exceptional. The young lady who waited on us also had a very large group to serve and still took very great care of us. Beyond just being efficient and making sure our needs were met, she was sweet, personable, and fun. Just made the visit that much better.
I will continue to do most of my Italian at home (the standard fare), but the few times a year I’m looking for a special Italian dish I’ve found where my pasta dollars are headed.

Ok so I’ve heard a lot of good things about Capri so the wife and I decide to try it out Friday night. We walk in about 830 pm not crowded at all. About 6 tables are occupied. They say pick any table. We sit down they take our drinks. It’s our first time here so we take our time reviewing the menu. First, thing I noticed is the waitress didn’t offer nor explain the specials on the board. I read over the specials and decide that I’m not interested in any of the options. So we order an appetizer calamari, seafood spaghetti for my wife and I order the seafood risotto.
Calamari — We didn’t care for it. I don’t know if they cooked it too early and it sat in the kitchen for a while. But, it wasn’t warm at all and was some what soggy. Ehhh
Seafood Pasta — My wife gave it a ⁵⁄₁₀ comparing it to Carraba’s similar version of the dish. Not impressed again.
Seafood Risotto — This was probably the best dish of the night. I’ll give it a ⁷⁄₁₀.
But, overall service was the kicker that won’t have me going back. I saw the owner talking and conversing with another table. But, she didn’t know what was going on. She needs to have better control of her staff.
The service was horrible. The waitress took almost 10 mins to take our order. When she finally heads over to take our order she says, «Sorry I don’t know where your waitress is but I’ll take your order». What?! So it’s our fault we’re in the wrong section.
That set the tone for the rest of the night. We both didn’t want to be there but it was already almost 9pm. So we stuck it out to at least try the food.
Well we gave it a shot. Sorry Capri we won’t be coming back.

Totally disappointing. After hearing awesome reviews we visited Capri where «they have amazing Italian food».
The eggplant parm as well as the chicken parm were completely sub-​par. The wedding soup was completely tasteless. A family member did order the homemade Gnocchi which was very good.
The staff was less than friendly and unkept. Will never return.

So after hearing about this place close to a year straight of people mentioning it to me I finally decided to try it for lunch today it’s a small place one waitress Cheyenne was working by herself at least front of house when seated we are given 2 types of bread one is a garlic sliced French bread the other is a small bread (which I didn’t care for) and tomato sauce w a sprinkle of parm drink orders were taken promptly and were kept full (which most places is an issue) considering she was by herself she did awesome we ordered off the lunch menu I got a caprese (sp) salad w fresh motz (yum) after maybe 20 min we got our main course I ordered the piccata it wasn’t how I’m used to but was very good ! Overall I was very satisfied with my visit would recommend

The review I never thought I’d write about a rest. that has homemade noodles… This is the WORST homemade Italian family rest. experience ever! First off, my Dad and I were brought up on homemade italian food and especially homemade noodles. When we found out there was a joint in Houston that made fresh pasta we decided to make the 30 minute trip.
Starting the meal we got a bread basket and the marinara dipping sauce was cold. That tells me if you order marinara on a main dish that they have to reheat it… microwave?
My dad ordered the Tagliatelle with the bolognese sauce. The noodles were cooked perfect but the sauce was bland.
I myself ordered the Pappardelle with tomato basil sauce. This was easily the worst italian dish of my life! The noodles, although homemade, were essentially lasagna SCRAPS! They were not noodles at all, they seemed to be hacked pieces of leftover lasagna noodle. They also came in two different varieties, one spinach and one regular which was not noted on the menu. The spinach «noodle» was over cooked and the regular was even more over cooked to the point where it was one step away from mush. The sauce was so thick and had the consistency of tomato paste and ketchup mixed together. The pasta was overwhelmed with way too much sauce, and had the strongest tomato taste I’ve ever eaten. I literally had to try and scrape off the excess sauce with a knife there was so much.
The prices were astonishingly high considering the food quality and portions. It blows us away that an Italian family is responsible for this slop and even more unbelievable that a place this bad is still open.

Disappointing when you watch your lasagne come straight out of a microwave. If we hadn’t have seen it, we definitely tasted it!
Gnocchi was very good but pricy at $ 18.
Service was slow due to one server but she sure was working her butt off! Another waitress showed up later but clearly did not want to be there.
Sorry, but we will not be going back.

1^st time here… heard the homemade pasta was the best around. It’s true.
~ Our waitress Kristin was personable and fun to hang out with.
~ 2007 Shafer OnePointFive cab to drink (BYOB and they provide glasses for a small corkage fee)
~ Shrimp Bruchetta with celery and garlic for appetizer (the shrimp was perfectly cooked).
~ We shared the 3 (all handmade, your choice) pasta entrée: Green tagliatelle pasta with a sweet cream sauce and crab; 4 cheese Gnocchi (STUPID great); Risotto with homemade sausage & portabella.
~ This is THE best Italian in The Woodlands. 8.0 out of 10 all day.

I went here with a friend and I’ll admit I was a little hesitant, the location could be better, but we saw some nice cars in the parking lot so we thought we’d give it a try.
I was pretty amazed by the food, I had the Ravioli Verdi Alla Boscaiola
The ravioli’s were cooked perfectly and the ricotta cheese inside was excellent. The sauce it came with was nice and creamy and went very well with the ravioli’s. I’m not an expert in Italian food by any means, but the food here beats out any of the common places I’ve went to for itialian (carrabas, olive garden, macaroni grill, etc).
Don’t be put off by the building they are in, this is great food.

I was looking for a place for Valentine’s Day that did not have a set menu I was forced to accept. After searching high and low, I came across Capri Pasta Pizza & More. I had heard good things about the place and after reading some reviews on Unilocal decided to give it a whirl. I made reservations for 7:15 and arrived a few minutes before and was seated with no issues.
The place is inside a very nondescript strip center right next to a Firestone tire shop. Once inside though, you forget you are inside a strip center and the place has a very homey feel to it. The great thing about this place is it is BYOB and we brought along a bottle of wine to enjoy with our dinner. I’m not sure if because it was Valentine’s Day or not, but we were charged a $ 5.00 cork fee. I know other reviews have stated there was no charge, but on this night there was one. Still, well worth it to enjoy a full bottle of wine for a mere $ 5.00 charge.
Service is a bit slow, but they were very busy this night and they only have 2 people covering the entire restaurant. We ordered waters to go along with our wine and we were brought out a bread basket. The bread was good and served with a warm marinara sauce to dip. The little bread pillows that are in the basket are something different than I have had at other places. We both ordered the Caesar salad for starters and were pleased with our decision. The salad was nice and fresh and a good sized portion for the $ 3.00 price tag. Homemade dressing made the salad that much better.
For entrees, I had the crab Alfredo with green tagliatelle and my wife had eggplant Parmesan. My crab dish was superb. Very rich and flavorful with quite a bit of crab in the dish. The homemade pasta was cooked perfectly and was nice and tender but still had some chew to it. The eggplant Parmesan was also very good and a huge portion that looked like it was a whole eggplant. My wife definitely brought home leftovers from that one.
For dessert, we shared a marscipone with berries. It was nice and sweet but not too heavy. A good ending to the meal and satisfied our sweet tooth. It took a while for us to get our check once complete, but we were in no big hurry. This was a terrific evening and one that was a lot of fun. We had plenty of wine, good food and good conversation. The place is a little small but that adds to the charm. I will definitely be returning to try some of the other dishes that are offered. If you are looking for good quality Italian food at reasonable prices give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

I went to Capri specifically for the lasagna. After all, it made the Houston Press’s list of «Top 100 Dishes in Houston».
I was really disappointed. I got two squares of mushy, watery pasta with about a half-​inch of Riccota between them. I guess there was meat in there somewhere. Maybe. It’s a good thing I like Ricotta, I guess. Oh, and no sides. And it was $ 12.00. At lunch.
Service was really good, though. I also had a bruschetta appetizer, which was just as enjoyable as the lasagna was disappointing.
I may give Capri another chance in a few months, but I’ll never even think about getting that lasagna again.

People have been good at describing this place so far, so I’ll give an overall
ditto.
Other details. The bread basket they give you before food is great! Toasted garlic bread, magic little bread pillows (they are cute, and I have no clue what they are), and a bowl of marinara kinda sauce. So that’s legit and tasty.
I had the chicken parmesan which came with two sides, I got roasted potatoes and a garden salad. The salad was nice, had congenial croutons and little sliced up tasty tomatoes. The ranch dressing was thickkkk.
The potatoes were kinda boring, almost seemed like a diced up baked potato with oregano or something tossed on. But they served their potato’y purpose.
The chicken parm was great. Good cooked’ness, good portion, and good sauceee. Had plenty sauce too to dip potatoes in, etc.
Problem is, the server was pretty bad. Strictly business here. No chatting. A single cursory «yall ok?» and almost seemed like she was mad at us but had to serve us anyways. Lameeee. If you’re reading this server, I’m the guy that was wearing purple tinted glasses and still tipped you really well, all I ask is you be a bit more chipper and not a downer on the whole experience because you seemed pissed off :-/​
Oh well, definitely want to come back, try some other food, and BYOB!

This Authentic Italian Restaurant is a must try. This is a family run business. The owner Barbara is there 6 days a week creating authentic masterpiece meals. All entrees are made from scratch with high quality ingredients.
After I ordered my entrée I received a bread basket wish small toasted garlic/​cheese bread slices and a yummy basil tomato Italian melted cheese dipping sauce. Also received some Italian puffed bread squares.
I ordered the Ravioli Verde Alla Boscailo which is a homemade green ravioli generously stuffed with ricotta cheese and spinach in a beef Bolognese sauce with mushrooms, peas and cream. My entrée was very nicely plated with Italian parsley and fresh grated cheese all around the edge of the plate. The food was amazingly good. You surely don’t find this authentic food at the local Italian chain restaurants.
They also serve Italian appetizers, salads, many unique pasta entrees,
gnocci’s, risotto’s, veal, chicken, beef and pork Italian style meals. Italian sandwiches are also available.
They have several Lacto-​Ovo vegetarian entrees and desserts. The kiddos can eat in style also with the kids meal selection.
Service was excellent and perfectly timed. The décor inside has all Italian pictures on the walls of such beautiful places teasing you, making you wish you were actually in Italy.
I’m not sure if they received their wine and beer license yet. Call first because if not you can bring your own.
