Amazing price with good food! I’ve been going to this place for 3 years. General Tsos chicken is on point! Owner is very friendly. Food is awesome!

if you want hot delicious chinese food delivery, especially if you are too lazy to go out… or whatever you feel… this is the place to order. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp, shrimp fried rice and won ton soup. It took about 35 minutes and it was super hot, fresh and delicious. They give large portion. I will make this«Asian Rice» on my to go list if I ever come back to Springfield, Virginia area. You would be disappointed. Trust me. Order now.

This place used to be so good and I was besides myself when I discovered it because it is halal. The last 2 times we ordered, the sauces were bland and the meat was slimey.

The delivery guy actually demanded a tip. First of all, they actually already charge a delivery fee, a fee that more than compensates for the mileage. When I mentioned that they had already charged for delivery, the guy argues that it was just the delivery fee and not tip. If he wasn’t appearing so serious, I would of thought he was making a joke. Who demands a tip? Truthfully I was thinking of leaving a tip as well but the rudeness threw me off guard. I gave him one just to get him off my property and because the situation was looking a little pathetic for him. On top of that the food was below average. The fried dumplings were more steamed than fried. I won’t be ordering from them again.

2 star for Halal Chinese food. The service sucks and the lady work at front who I assume is also owner have serious issues. very rude if ask question about menu she get upset and will not provide you any friendly service. Took my Cousin who came to visit from Sydney Australia and was so upset on the service and I told the lady she should work at back not upfront since she do not know anything about customer service. never again going back.

Do not eat here. service was terrible and food was not very good either. Tried to use a coupon and the lady acted very badly. We ended up using the coupon and when the order got to the house, the food that was for the coupon was only a half order. The lady said it was standard. I would not eat here again.

Vegetable spring rolls were very oily and soggy. Fried baby shrimp were overly fishy. Beef&broccoli was just ok.

Worst customer service experience in a restaurant ever. I work in a hotel and I ordered from Asian Rice for delivery. I ordered General Tso chicken. After 30 mins, the order arrived, it took a while before I went on break so when I checked the food, They gave me orange chicken instead of general tso, and I know the difference between the two, it even had orange strips on it. I did not mind and I ate most of it and threw the left over away, the food was good anyway. But then I called to just let them know that they may have given the wrong order. The lady on the phone(Same one who took my order) started yelling at me, cussing at me and calling me liar. I told her that it does not matter, Im not asking for any refund, I was just making them aware that they gave the wrong order. She continued yelling and trying to prove her point and that I was making it all up. I cannot believe how an employee who is supposed to provide customer service yell at a their customers like that? it was unbelievable. I was very upset and I told her that due to her very foul and uneducated attitude, I will never advice my guests to order from their restaurant ever because she might end up doing the same to them! I hung up on her because she was pointless. She called back to argue again, I told her to stop and that I dont want anything from her, no refund or anything, and that for her to stop calling me and just move on, she was angry that Im not going to recommend this restaurant anymore. The worst part was she went to the hotel front desk to prove her point, and yell at me and call me a liar. unbelievable asian lady! She even asked to see the food they delivered but I already threw the few left overs away and then she said«where is the trash can? I will prove you wrong» I called my GM because she was causing too much scene. She walked out. Anyway, I am still a customer and I PAID for the food. She should have apologized and just not do it next time instead of getting into a big fight with me, take note, I AMSTILL A CUSTOMER. She even said that she is the manager. I do not believe it. I am afraid to recommend this to our hotel guests because she might treat them the way she treated me. This is unbelievable. She has proven that this restaurant has the WORSTSTAFFEVER. Waste of money. very upsetting, the food was ok, its just the way the staff treat their customer is very terrible.

Only reason why I come here is because it is Halal, and the general tso chicken is on point. That is pretty much the only dish I get when I do visit, but have tried a couple of other ones and they were also tasty. The do not drown the chicken in sauce like most other chinese restaurants and the chicken is nice and crispy to a degree. The place is conviently located right near the mixing bowl on backlick road.

We used to order food from here quite often. However, the last time my sister placed an order she tried to use a coupon that was mailed out to us. The lady taking the order went off on a tirade on how we always use coupons when paying using a credit card even though she’s asked us not to so my sister ended the call. The lady apparently thought my sister was someone else and called back and continued yelling at her. My sister got her to understand that she wasn’t whoever she was mistaking her for and placed an order and picked it up. Who in the world runs a restaurant and chews out a customer and calls them back to continue their tirade? I don’t plan on ever ordering from here again.

Their general tso chicken the best for me. The place is not ideal for big group since they are pretty small. Ideal for pick up/delivery. Just call and they be ready pretty quick! love the hot & sour soup, fried chicken & fried rice too! Price pretty cheap and another option for HALAL chinese food :)

General tso’s chicken was very good — a light batter and thin sauce. Not like typical takeout which is half batter and with goopy sauce. I love the typical takeout style but Asian Rice offers a a healthier yet tasty alternative. The basil fried rice was okay, but not my favorite. Wontons are a bargain but filling is kind of dry. Verdict: will definitely come back when I’m craving Chinese but want something lighter.

Not good at all. The chicken didn’t look or taste like chicken and the shrimp rolls were not good either.

So I’ve passed this place numerous times driving through this part of the Springfield corridor. The place is in a somewhat run down looking strip mall and is wedged between two home improvement retail stores. Getting here is a little tricky if you’re on the Commerce/Amherst side but open up the map apps on Unilocal and it’ll help you out. As others Unilocalers wrote, Asian Rice is mainly a takeout joint but there are some tables to dine in. If you do, expect real silverware not plastic or paper products. It gave me a kind of cozy eating-at-their-home feeling. Weird right? So food came out the same time about 10 minutes after ordering. Hot and sour soup — spicy and full of tofu, mushrooms, red chili flakes in a thick light brown broth. Tofu with broccoli — tofu was prepared fried then stir fried with sliced carrots and broccoli florettes in a soy based sauce. I like how the tofu was cut into mini triangles, and that it was fluffy and airy when I bit into it Sesame chicken — crispy, all white meat and cut into cubes. Sauce was not too sweet or syrupy and looked like was made in-house. Overall it’s a typical Americanized Chinese takeout place. Don’t expect any bok choy or yu choy, black bean paste, oyster or XO sauce. If you want more authentic chinese cuisine, check out the Mandarin(see my review and pics) in the plaza across the street. I would have given 4 stars but I found the taste of the sesame chicken sauce a little odd and off putting. And I’m not sure which dish it was(could have been the soup), but there was a metallic aftertaste. Prices were surprisingly decent given they use halal meat. They don’t use MSG and offer fresh veggies. This is the 2nd halal chinese I’ve been to in Springfield. Not sure if the food is supposed to taste better or what. If you use a credit card, the minimum purchase is $ 18. Order at least $ 20, and you get a free can of soda or a spring roll.

This is our new go-to Chinese takeout restaurant. The biggest pro: great customer service. I’ve called these poor people 10 minutes before their closing time(bad planning on my part) and asked whether they’re still delivering, and the answer is always«Yes! How can I help you?» No only do they take my order, they do so cheerfully. Their crispy beef and crispy chicken is one of our favorites, and they always let us get a mixed order — half beef, half chicken. It’s your standard chinese takeout fare, which is tasty, if unimaginative. Another plus: the whole menu is halal.

Oy! My mother and I ordered chicken pad Thai and yellow chicken curry. The pad Thai was over cooked and had VERY little flavor. There was hardly any chicken in it and no green onions or peanuts, which I think is a minimum with respect to pad Thai. The yellow curry seemed yummy in the first few bites, but ended up being a gravy with red pepper flakes. Maybe their Chinese food is better. I’m also not keen on the location. Making a left turn to go back down Backlick is impossible.

The delivery order arrived quickly and hot. The delivery person was very nice and polite. The Hot and Sour Soup was loaded with tofu, bamboo, egg and Asian mushrooms. It was more hot than sour and a little too hot for my taste(but my husband really liked it). The Crab Rangoon was average, but tasty. I really liked the dipping sauce(I think it’s the same as the entrée’s Sweet and Sour sauce). The Fried Wantons were meh; more wrapping than filling. The Chicken and Mixed Vegetables is loaded with fresh veggies in a brown sauce. It has broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, green and red peppers, onions, zucchini and cabbage. It was good and I’d order it again. Update: The General Tso’s chicken is not very good. Bad enough for me to knock a star off. The pieces are too small and when they are fried they turn into dry, chewy leather. It’s tough because I love their Crab Rangoon, but their General Tso’s is jut inedible…

My new favorite Chinese take-out place! Food’s terrific but the service on the other hand is friendly but completely chaotic — looks to be a mom and pop operation with«mom» answering phones, taking orders, cashiering, cleaning up etc… while the«pop» cooked in the kitchen. I ordered take-out 6-ish on a Saturday and had to wait about 30 minutes and watched as they struggled to keep up with the rush of orders. I tried the orange beef and basil fried rice… both were delicious!

This has got to be the BEST Chinese takeout/delivery in the Springfield area. If you look at most of the reviews, they’re all 4 and 5 star reviews! That’s when you know a place is good. ;) I’ve only ordered delivery from here, and they are always polite on the phone and super quick to deliver our food. They quote us at 30 minutes, but they literally arrive at our door within 15 minutes. What I love the most about this place is that they don’t use MSG, use low sodium soy sauce and soybean oil, and fresh veggies! Even their website explains that they are«committed to your health, in a tasty way.» My favorites here are: Seafood delight, combination lo mein, kung pao chicken, and their crab rangoon.

Asian Rice really is fantastic. I’ve passed by this restaurant countless times, but I thought that I’d finally give them a try. My family and I were pleasantly surprised :) There are a few tables in the restaurant, by my family and I were the only patrons there for about an hour on Saturday afternoon(around 3 pm). There were about five different people who came in to pick up their carryout orders. Each of them seemed like they were satisfied returning customers. My family and I made it in at 2:45 pm, 15 minutes before the lunch special would end and were able to take advantage of this(runs until 3:00 pm). I ordered five entrees to share and my sister had the beef Asian rice bowl. The entrees ran about $ 6.25 each and the rice bowl may have been over $ 7. The entrees were amazing and beautifully prepared. The rice bowl was good as well, but I don’t think it should have been that expensive. The lunch special entrée is served with white rice(additional .50 for brown rice substitution) and the crispiest spring roll you will EVER eat! The entrees included Beef with Mixed Vegetables, Hunan Shrimp, Sesame Chicken, General Tso’s Chicken, and Chicken Lo mien. My dad loved the Hunan Shrimp, and for good reason, too! The shrimp were pretty big, juicy, and cleaned really nicely. Spicy too! I wasn’t too impressed with the sesame chicken, but it was still good. I just didn’t like it as much as the other entrees. The Lo mien was soft and really yummy. Perfect! Not greasy at all! Beef with Mixed Vegetables was really good as well. I will need to order this again. The beef cuts were thick(but not too thick) and thin(but not too thin). My mom really enjoyed this dish. Their mixed vegetables offered a great variety and fresh products! I loved the Zucchini! I thought the General Tso’s chicken is the best I’ve ever had. It was really saucy, the chicken was tender, but also crispy. Will re-order this as well. Parking is available in front of the restaurant, but getting out can be really tricky since left turns are difficult(but not impossible) because of oncoming traffic and a right turn would take you to ramps to get on to 95, 395, and 495. As you may have guess by looking at the length of this review, I really enjoyed myself at Asian Rice. The friendliest service, versatile menu, and fresh products. My parents love that its Halal high-quality food and love the fresh veggies!
