Camp Bow Wow Springfield

I take my dog here 2 – 3 times per week for socialization and she loves it. Such sweet employees and I really appreciate that my little dog is placed with other small dogs. 5 stars for sure! Awesome, friendly place.

I really hate writing this review. My dog has attended Camp Bow Wow for years, first in Ohio and then here in Springfield. She has always loved going there and been excited about her doggy friends. Unfortunately, the quality has really declined in the last 6 months.
My first tip off to the change, occurred this July, when I dropped her off for a week. I had her updated Bordetella vaccine record and I thought it was odd that they did not know her previous vaccine was expired. If I had not been on it, then she would have attended without an updated vaccine.
While she was there, another dog bit her on the ear. I was not too worried about it, these things happen, and Camp Bow Wow explained that they are not liable because this is a known risk. She ended up needing stitches and unfortunately started exhibiting startling symptoms (avoidance of water and foaming/​drooling at the mouth, vomiting/​diarrhea) several days later. My vet called Camp Bow Wow to get a copy of the other dog’s shot records with all identifiable information redacted. Camp Bow Wow refused to provide the shot record citing privacy concerns (although all private info can be blocked out from the record).
Considering my experience when dropping her off and their refusal to provide the vaccine record of the other dog, I feel that Camp Bow Wow is now lax when it comes to safety and vaccinations. Verbally they say that all dogs are vaccinated and will assure you that this is the case, my experience proves otherwise. Just a word of caution for those that decide to send their dogs here or that have had good experiences previously.
Update: My dog, Shera, attended Camp Bow Wow from July 2^nd to July 12^th. She was perfectly healthy prior to attending Camp Bow Wow. She passed on July 23^rd after several trips to the vet to repair her ear and to determine the cause of her unknown illness. I had previously given good written/​verbal reviews and recommendations about this facility, but now I wish I had never taken her there.

Very very pleased. We left our two Yorkshire terriers for an overnight stay. Staff extremely friendly and genuinely caring for our babies. We are very picky and worry when we have to leave them. Would use them again because we feel comfortable and feel that they are in good hands.

Camp Bow Wow went above and beyond to accommodate myself and my dog Coach the last time Coach stayed with them. I am extremely grateful for the entire staff at the Springfield, MO location and will continue to give them my service as well as recommend them highly to others. This location deserves recognition for how amazing they are. Thanks again for taking great care of my puppy

This is one of two doggy daycares in town that we’ve tried and Woody definitely like this one better. How do we know, you ask? The other place we’ve taken him the dogs get to play with minimal supervision all day — which is fine if you have a dog-​dog. Woody, on the other hand, is a people dog. He wants to play until he’s tired (which isn’t long, he’s a lazy monster) and then wants to go sit adjacent to the humans. There is always a person out with the dogs and this makes him happy. He is always excited when we arrive and the girls who work there seem just as happy to see him.
We’ve brought him in for daycare a few times (really just to let him play) and boarded him once. Every time it’s gone smoothly. I loved spying on him using the webcams at the daycare we used to take him to in LA, so I’m really happy they offer the same service. They’re open from 7 – 7 so dropping off and picking up around a long workday isn’t an issue. They do require a temperament evaluation you have to schedule in advance as part of their first day and current vaccination records, so keep that all in mind when planning to bring your doggy in, but that’s all pretty standard.
They give you an adorable report card telling you how your pup did, including names of friends he played with. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Do I love it anyways? Absolutely. Yes, I understand my dog is not a child, but if I’m paying ~$ 20 for him to play all day, by all means, indulge me and tell me about naps on a cozy cot, how the play day went and who his new best friends are! While we definitely miss the Pooch Hotel in our old neighborhood, Woody thinks this is a more than acceptable substitute.
