Classic bait-and-switch. Friday I saw their ad on craigslist for Herman Miller Aeron chairs, which had been posted the day before(Thursday). 1. I get there, the chairs have magically all been sold. The ads are fully visible today Sunday! 2. He then proceeded to show me other chairs, cheaper but immensely worse in quality. I seriously doubt whether he ever had more than 1 in stock, and believe he just leaves their ads up there to get people to the weird location in industrial Fairfax. So I thought I’d look around. 3. I liked one chair, which he said was new(it wasn’t — it was a showroom demo and dirty). 4. He said the chair was at $ 350 regular price. 5. When I pressed for make an model, he showed me a dealer catalog with hugely inflated prices $ 590 for the same chair. He then proceeded to offer the chair for $ 250. 6. I googled the chair, found it’s sold at homedepot, new, with warranty and shipping, for $ 300. 7. I offered $ 220, thinking it might make the risk worth it. He just walked away, hiding in his office, offended. Oh well. In my opinion, this place is not worth the risk. Yes, I know it’s used furniture, but the discounts aren’t that great and you may end up wasting your time. If you are confident about the price, then maybe it’s worth it. Just fair warning, give them a call if you think they have something in stock. And check.

I guess things have changed since 2010 and 2011 reviews. Although Celio has a BIG selection, and Yes much to chose from as for quality for lightly used to rarely abused — they seem to forget that they are selling USED office furniture. The overall savings(after three separate visits and attempts to buy — all met with failure) was to discover savings of no more than 10 or 20% off new retail. In fact some of the pre-assembled CRATE type desks, are the same price as new — I guess you save in time and effort for the assembly. I found another center in Alexandria(Corts) who sell rental furniture which has been returned — and the costs were HALF and the service was better. In fact I was greeted and helped throughout the process — where at Celio I felt like I was bothering them to ask them to come out from behind the big counter in the back and give me some prices on unmarked items. After three tries over 2 years — I give up and won’t go back. Something warned me, when their craigs list never shows any prices where the other guys show prices.

I’ve been purchasing office furniture from Mel at Celio for years. I have purchased refinished old mahogany desks, credenzas, file cabinets, desk chairs and lobby chairs and even a beautiful vintage breakfront that is in my reception area. He is fair and has a variety of styles, etc. He will work within whatever budget you have. He has been a lifesaver for me and I get compliments almost daily on my office décor. Thanks, Mel!

My wife was looking for an office chair, but has a very picky back, so adjustability is a must. I was surprised to find that the Big Box office supply stores only sell very basic office chairs(with height and full-seat-tilt adjust only), and nothing like what you’d find in a real office for an employer that cares about employee comfort(with back height, back tilt, tilt lock-in-place, arm rest height and angle, etc adjustments). We decided to check out Celio, and found a great chair for $ 75 that was much better than what we’d get for $ 250+ at a Big Box office supply store. While we were there, we picked up a heavy-duty filing cabinet. Prices are incredibly reasonable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Since this is used furniture, the stock changes rapidly, but there’s a lot of REALLY high quality stuff here that’s in excellent condition. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I have searched high and low all over VA looking for a bookcase that would hold some seriously heavy books. I needed something well-made and solid, but I couldn’t pay hundreds of dollars for solid wood or go through the hassle of assembling with Ikea. On a whim, I drove out to Springfield in response to an ad they’d posted on Craiglist. This place is fantastic! It’s full of QUALITY office furniture — desks, bookcases, chairs, etc. — in good, clean condition.(There was some dust here and there on a few pieces, but nothing you wouldn’t expect. Plus everything is shined to a sparkly clean before it’s delivered to you.) Everything is neatly organized, so it’s easy to browse and find exactly what you need. I ended up getting not just the bookcase of my dreams, but also a Steelcase adjustable desk chair with lumbar support. Even better, the price I paid for these two pieces together was a mere fraction of what it would have cost me to buy either one of them brand new. Best of all, there was delivery right to my door for a modest fee. I highly encourage anyone looking to outfit a home or commercial office to stop into Celio to check out what they have to offer — attentive but pressure-free service, a clean showroom, reasonable prices, affordable delivery, and quality pieces. P. S. It’s a little confusing to find when you drive into the parking lot. You basically have to go all the way around the back of the building to find Suite B.
