Dr. Furst and his medical team are great. However, the receptionist at the office is incredibly rude with a snobby attitude. She is not helpful whatsoever and never has been since I’ve gone there. She acts as if the patients are secondary. When I was tried to ask a question she was quick to shut the office glass window at the front desk on me. She even had an attitude over the telephone. If she hates her job that much she should quit. I’m not sure why Dr. Furst has this rude lady representing his business.

Don’t waste your time! Dr. Furst is RUDE!
I have been a patient of Dr. Furst for over five years. I have never before missed an appointment that I had made with him. About a month or two ago I made an appointment with him to look at my infected tonsils. Unfortunately my infant daughter got really sick the night before my appointment and we were in the emergency room all night. The next day (which was the day of my scheduled appointment with Dr. Furst) I had to take her to her pediatric doctor for a follow up. Then over to children’s hospital in Rockville MD.
About a weeks later I called Dr. Furst office to apologize and reschedule my appointment. I explained to the receptionist, how sick my infant was and how truly sorry I was for missing my appointment. The receptionist was so nice and understanding, She said she completely understood and that she would disregard the 50 dollar no show fee. Then she rescheduled my appointment.
The day before my appointment the receptionist called me at work and told me that Dr. Furst would like me to bring him a Doctors note saying that my daughter was really sick. She said he wanted to make sure I was telling the truth! My daughter was only 11months old! Why would I lie about my daughter being sick? Over 50 dollars??? I could care less about paying 50 dollars!
The next day, I showed up to my appointment with my infant daughter and a big Inova folder full of Doctor notes. (Two emergency rooms visits, her pediatric Doctor and also one from children’s national hospital)
When I got to the window I explained to the receptionist that I was not there to be seen. I only wanted to speak to DR. Furst.
Dr Furst came out into the lobby with a huge attitude! I showed him the letters that he asked for and told him to treat his patients with more respect and explained to him that I don’t need to lie to save 50 dollars! Then he said to me… «That is only a fraction of how much money I lost in the 30 minutes I had scheduled for you!!» I could not believe it! He does not care at all about his patients! I also work in the medical field and the Doctor I work for would never treat his patients this way! Like I said… I was going to him for over 5 years! I have never missed an appointment before or even been a minute late.
Stay away from Dr. Furst! I give him NO Stars!!!

I wish I was still in network to be able to see Dr. Eric Furst. He is a fantastic ENT who assisted with several problems, primarily Sleep Apnea. Dr. Furst is extremely knowledgeable on the latest techniques, does tons of research and attends many seminars and conferences. Dr. Furst operated on me in 2003, he did a UPPP with tonsillectomy to cure my sleep apnea. Unfortunately it was a short term fix for me, but that was not on Dr. Furst as weight gain caused the symptoms to reappear. Dr. Furst worked to find other methods to assist from CPAP machines to dental appliances to a BIPAP machine that works wonderfully.
I would not question sending someone to see Dr. Furst for sleep apnea, any ENT problems or anything else that he specializes in. He is caring, professional and eager to help in any way he can.

I brought my almost 2 year old son to Dr. Furst today due to a speech delay which we suspected was caused by hearing/​ear issues. I was nervous since he was not a pediatric specialist. I left the office today completely confident in his work with kids. He spent about an hour with us total since I asked a ton of questions after the exam. I’m sure we delayed his other appointments (sorry to those in the waiting room) but I never once felt rushed. My son will need tubes so I had a million questions about his surgery. Dr. Furst was pleasant, knowledgeable, and I left feeling so happy that we finally have an answer to my son’s issues. We’ll see how the surgery goes but so far I am very pleased with Dr. Furst. Highly recommend.

Incredibly smart and a life saver. I have been dealing with chronic sinusitis for many years now with no relief in sight, so to speak, and he is the VERY FIRST doctor to recommend several different treatment options to cure, prevent, basically get to the bottom of this !!!
His staff is equally as wonderfully, and they understand what we sinus sufferers go through, so they are always patient and kind.
BEST ENT doctor and one of the top 2 best doctors overall I’ve ever had in my life!!!

He not only takes his time with you while your there, although they keep a busy schedule, but you never feel rushed or like you’re just a number in a herd of cattle being run through the office.

The office was clean, and he was cordial during our visit. There are the 2 stars. What I expect from an MD is that they do their best to get to the root of the problem. After hearing my symptoms, he was sure of a specific diagnosis and sent me for a test. It came back negative and when I asked to see him again to discuss other diagnoses or treatments, the woman who had called with my test results stated that he could not offer any more help and to try sudafed– which I had already tried. After one 5 minute visit, he couldn’t explore other options? I saw another MD who got to the root of the problem immediately, and is open to follow ups if I have questions/​concerns. Wouldn’t recommend Dr Furst.

Dr. Furst is the bomb dot com! I was looking for an ENT due to some issues I had with my throat, and after reading all of your reviews, I decided to give him a try.
The office location was clean, and the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. Dr. Furst was very prompt, and took my concerns seriously. He was very thorough during the examination, and explained everything he was doing and what he was looking for. Although he didn’t find anything medically wrong, he gave me some tips to try and alleviate the issue I was having with my throat. He said that if my problems got worse, he could get recommend more extensive testing to be done. However, he didn’t want to do anything unnecessary or drastic until I tried all other options first. I truly appreciate that in a physician.
He is one of the best physicians I have ever had. Consider him for your ENT needs and concerns!

When my husband had a funky lump on his neck that wouldn’t go away, our GP sent us to Dr. Furst. He immediately set us at ease with his warm personality, and impressed us with his knowledge and style. He not only correctly diagnosed the problem, but made arrangements to get us in to other doctors we needed to see the very same day.
He is an excellent surgeon besides — he removed both of my husbands tumors, and gave him excellent care as he recovered from each of these procedures.
Behind his back, we call him «Dr. Hero» and the moniker is well deserved.

When my allergist said I needed to see an ENT and gave me a list of 3 that she recommends, I immediately came here to see what people had to say about them. Dr Furst was the only one that had a review by someone I know (thanks, MacRae O.!), so I decided to go with him.
I got there about 20 minutes early for my appointment, anticipating paperwork, which I had. Unfortunately, I didn’t anticipate the doctor being 45 minutes behind! I’m OK with that, though — I truly believe that a doctor who cares more about giving patients the attention they need than keeping to a schedule wins every time. Luckily, I had a book with me — absolutely recommend being prepared for a wait.
My conversation with Dr Furst was very positive. He explained everything, using visuals at time, in a way that I could understand. And bonus: he’s a sleep doctor, and I had a couple of questions since I haven’t actually seen a sleep doctor in a couple of years. He was more than willing to answer the questions, even though it probably took him a few more minutes behind schedule, and I truly appreciated that.
While, based on that appointment, I do not anticipate needing an ENT again, I will absolutely be keeping Dr Furst in mind in case I end up needing a sleep doctor again.

I love, love Dr. Furst. He takes his time and really listens. I’ve had a lot of allergy/​sinus problems through the years and no one has helped me the way he has. He is very conservative and exhausts all options before surgery. When I got really sick, his office fitted me right in and he gave me an antibiotic sample in the office and told me to take it right then. I can’t say enough good things about him and I wish all doctors were like him.
I have had to wait quite a while in his office, that is the only negative. He really takes his time and if someone has a complicated problem it will take longer. But it’s worth the wait and he will spend time with you when it’s your turn.

I have OCD tendencies, a mild form of hypochondria, and a penchant for panic. So when I awoke one morning a few weeks ago without the ability to hear anything with my left ear except the constant, shrill ringing that followed me everywhere — this after a summer of not being able to breathe out the right side of my face — I was sure it was my time to go. Before I got all my papers in order and sat down with husband to teach him how to use the stove, however, I figured I might as well consult an ENT on the off chance I was going to live.
Enter the diminutive Dr. Furst. Honestly, I picked him randomly because 1) he accepts my insurance; and 2) he went to Baylor medical school, so I figured he just might know what he’s doing. But I was also encouraged by Amanda S.‘s glowing review, and the fact that he’s made Consumer Checkbook’s Top Specialists in DC pretty consistently for the last 8 years.
I’ve been fairly impressed so far. Dr. Furst is soft-​spoken and has a reassuring bedside manner, and he’s spent as much time with me as he thinks he needs, asking lots of questions. He ordered a battery of assessments, one of which was a hearing test with the hearing specialist in the practice, Dr. Connors. She, too, has a kind manner about her, although the testing booth itself looks like something out of a Milgram experiment.
I will say that the office is a bit… um, odd? Remember that episode of the old «Twilight Zone», the plastic-​surgery one in the hospital where all the staff turn out to be pig-​creatures? That’s this office: so 60s I’m surprised the staff aren’t walking around in beehive ‘dos and sweater sets (and no, they don’t look like pig-​people). I almost wish I could see in black-​and-​white when I’m here to make it more authentic. And then maybe the avocado greens and it’s-a-boy! blues wouldn’t offend my eyes so badly, either. Not to mention the old-​school anatomy-​class models of the human heads.
But overall this is a great office, run efficiently. They don’t overschedule appointments, and you don’t feel like you’re at a cattle call. Staff themselves are quite pleasant, although a couple times I’ve overheard some of the ladies talkin’ smack about colleagues? Patients? Significant others? Who knows… but I don’t need to hear about it while I’m thumbing through Cooking Light in the waiting room. Still, I’d recommend Dr. Furst to anyone searching for an otolaryngologist, or in need of confirmation that it is, indeed, a deviated septum causing your breathing troubles, and not a yet-​to-​be-​named life-​threatening illness.

Dr. Furst has been an amazing doctor. He is an ear, nose, throat specialist. I went to him after recommendation from my primary care physician because I had a problem with Sinus Infections.
I got surgery on my sinuses and have had complete success. Only one sinus infection in one year, when I used to have one to two a month.
He introduced me to the netty pot, which has been a saving grace, I absolutely love it and it has been very helpful.
I always feel at home when I visit with him and he not only cares about my nose, but my well being.
You need to make sure when you call for an appointment that you have a couple of options as he sometimes has the day you want in for surgery.
