Horrible. We have dubbed them Shenanigans in my house. First of all, there is no communication at all in the company. A tech came out and helped us, we gave him our landlords contact info and he left. Our landlord never heard anything and when we called to get an update no one had heard anything about it at all. We called a few times, heard different things from different people, and it was ridiculous. Eventually we ended up getting a new AC unit which was inevitable. Should be good to go, right? The 101 degree heat and humidity should not be a problem, right? Wrong. We went about 2 weeks assuming we didn’t understand the new AC setter thing, but after giving up a month later we called and had another guy come out. Turns out the tech who installed it didn’t put the caps on or something. Are you serious? We had the AC set for 68 for a month and it wasn’t working because your tech didn’t do his job properly. Shenanigans– you strike again. Don’t use them.

I just received excellent service from Shanahan’s and wanted to share my experience. I discovered that my laundry room floor had become saturated with water, either from my AC or hot water heater and called Shanahan’s about it this morning. Within 2 hours of my call, a service technician was at my house. He diagnosed and corrected the problem and also fixed my non-​working gas fireplace in short order, all for a reasonable price. Also, the dispatcher with whom I spoke was very friendly and worked to accommodate the service visit with my work schedule. I am very relieved to have this problem taken care of so quickly!

We used Shanahan’s to install new heat & a/​c systems in two houses in northern VA (one in Springfield and one in Herndon) We have been so pleased with the units and service at both homes!

Well, I sold my house and the new one had issues since the winter began. Rubin came in and assessed the problems and went right to work! He was there for just an hour and less than $ 150 fixed it all. He even had to go in the attic to hook up the duct leading to my daughter’s room, who has been freezing her butt off, and it still took less than an hour. Now all of the vents work in the basement so we can have fun down there. I just love this family owned and local business! Thanks Shanahan’s Heating and Cooling! You have a customer for life!

A highly publicized, local HAC company, with which I have had an annual maintenance contract for a number of years, quoted me $ 1374 to repair (new blower motor and wheel) a ten-​year old gas furnace. I called Shanahan’s for a second opinion. Shanahan’s provided excellent telephone response service (Pam), had a technician (Fernando) at my home within two hours, and performed the exact same new parts and service for $ 678. On top of that, the company owner, Kirk Shanahan, stopped by to make sure the diagnosis and repair were done properly. Outstanding!!!

Shanahan’s service call technician took less than 30 minutes to find the error and fix it.
Technicians from other companies (Dillingham, CB Lucas, A-​Aanandale) charged us for the service calls and gave us estimates ranging from $ 700 to $ 3,500 to replace some or all main parts. None of that was needed.

I’ve worked with this company for more than 10 years for my rental properties and my own home, and they’ve always done a great job for me. They are extremely reliable, charge a fair price and will back up their work.

It’s impossible to schedule service with this company just by calling them once. They use an answering service even during business hours. The service just takes a message and then they call you back at their convenience. Unfortunately, I’ve called them twice, asked them to call me back, and missed their return call because I was in a work meeting. If they just had an actual person you could deal with and schedule an appointment it would be much easier. Maybe people who are lucky enough to pick up when they call you back do get good service from the techs, but I wouldn’t know. I imagine not having front desk staff costs them business. I know it cost them mine.

I had SHC troubleshoot my A/​C and they replaced a coil and added a TXV valve. The TXV Valve failed after approximately 1 year. I called them and they refused to replace it though it was still under Warranty.

They are great! Kirk, Fernando, Allan and the rest of the team were wonderful! I could not give ten stars, otherwise I would. Fast, efficient, friendly, and just good all around. Makes my old HVAC system look like it was built in the stone age.

Excellent. Just had them out to repair a problem created by another heating and cooling company. This company replaced my whole HVAC system a couple of years ago. I got system I wanted with a higher SER rating and it cost $ 1,800 less then 4 other companies.
They do little advertising. They are top rated in Checkbook Magazine for costs and quality and apparently that keeps them very busy.

These guys are excellent. Fast service, honest, and very competent. I had a cap blow in a A/​C unit and they replaced it for nearly ½ the price I was charged by another company over 5 years ago.
