History

Established in 1966.

Raymond F. Catuogno, Sr. founded a court reporting business in 1966 that grew to become Catuogno Court Reporting & Sten-​Tel Transcription, Inc. in 2007. Sten-​Tel was originally incorporated in 1990 as the Sten-​Tel Business Trust, becoming Sten-​Tel, Inc. in 1993. Specializing in transcription technology and services, the company patented its signature product at that time, franchising it to over 40 individual owners across the United States. The creation of Sten-​Tel allowed the court reporting division to focus on depositions and court reporting activities while transcription and a new branch of entrepreneurship became the sole focus of the Sten-​Tel division under the leadership of George Catuogno, Raymond’s son. George has since accelerated the growth of the business consulting and solutions side of the business, creating a new range of information management business lines and services.

Ray is a Vietnam era veteran who served in the US Navy & Reserve until 1966. He was trained as a court reporter while studying at the Naval War College. His love of court reporting led him to hang out a shingle in Springfield, MA shortly afterward, and within 10 years he had one of the most successful and respected agencies in the Commonwealth. He continues to work every day and is a great inspiration to the entire company for his work ethic, integrity and tireless devotion to his friends and colleagues in the business.
