History

Established in 2003.

Step by Step began just over ten years ago out of a passion to help others learn how to dance and how dancing brings value to relationships and life. Although the doors of business opened in 2003, teaching others to dance ‘step by step’ was already happening in gymnasiums, school cafeterias, garages, and anywhere a smooth floor could be found to teach on. The dedicated space and now thriving business of Step by Step Dance Studio has welcomed, taught, encouraged, and grown many dancers that have taken their new found skill in every direction from the simplicity of learning for a wedding or cruise, all the way through to winning national championships in a dance competition. Step by Step has existed for the purpose of meeting students needs at all levels, and we continue to grow and change according to those needs!

Dance is not something that Kelly grew up with as a child, or that even interested her at all during the years when most girls are into jazz, tap and ballet. For Kelly, dance came later in life, and the process of becoming not only an accomplished dancer, but also a successful instructor/​studio owner, involved a journey of hard work, lots of excellent coaching, many hours of practice and a huge passion for the sport. Through the years Kelly has won several awards and accolades in Swing, Country and Ballroom dancing. She has danced students to a National Championship level, has been a US Open Swing contender herself, and has traveled throughout the US, to dance competitions as a competitor and/​or instructor. Although competition is an exhilarating and competitively fun, challenging pursuit, Kelly’s main focus stays within the studio, developing her students, and applying what competition and upper level dancing has taught her to each of her group classes, and private lesson dancers.
