My practice revolves around business formation and transition issues, real estate, estate planning, and probate. Prior to becoming an attorney, I co-owned and operated an automotive repair garage for more than eight years, where my partners and I worked through a large number of management, transition, choice of entity, and key employee issues. I continue to address similar issues for my clients.
If you own or run a small business like I did, you know how important it is to have a good ownership and management structure in place. Often a small business will need to change form sometime during its existence — whether due to growth, retiring family members, or bringing in new investors. Real estate can often be held in a separate entity, with a lease to the company providing retirement income. And planning an «exit» from the business, whether by sale, retirement, will, or trust, can enhance the value of the business and provide for continuity of management.
