We are the original wf codys. The one located on east sunshine street. Home of the one pound burgers. The Larry Burger is a must try! Fried egg and bacon w cheese tops a delish burger from local butcher. We have been named best burger in springfield 417 contest for many consecutive years. Great appetizers on the menu, piled high plate of fried mushrooms.

The food is AMAZING i had the ribeye sandwich so good!!! The environment is pretty cool kinda has a grungy bar feel but very welcoming at the same time. Very glad we decided to give them a try

It’s a bar that also serves food. Found that out a little too late when we walked in with our kids. Met some coworkers here, and the food was decent and the servers were friendly. However, it is a bar, and bars are bars, and are not for kids, so was glad the swearing and lewd behavior was not obvious. Would definitely go here with the guys after work, or even with just my wife and I, but never again with the kids in tow.

They have pool tables with pay to play and tournaments and a digital jukebox. There are TVs showing sports.
The burger was good but the fries were homemade cut from potatoes and absolutely wonderful.

Were do I begin. A lot of history in this little place. The food is excellent. You want something good just open up the menu and point at something. I’m a fan of the chicken tenders and the rueban. Good place to have a tasty drink of your choice. 3 fifty cent pool tables. Always someone up there to play a game. Pool tournaments on Tues and Sundays with payout. Good people and good times.

Nasty food. Even worse drinks. Bartenders can’t make anything unless it’s opening a beer. Even if you tell them everything in the drink. F this place.

I was a little skeptical by looks of the place especially because I’m in missourri. However I was very pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere was great and food was even better. The sign should be changed to best burgers in the country!!! Pits welcoming staff too!

My husband and I found this place on Unilocal and decided to try it out. It is a dive in every sense of the word. The burgers were great– very juicy and flavorful. It was a $ 12 burger for $ 8. The mushrooms were tasty also, the half order was more than enough for 2 of us. The prices were very reasonable. Springfield is now non-​smoking so the air was much cleaner than we expected from previous reviews. They have a kids menu that was very reasonable as well.

We’ve been here a couple times now and have been really happy with our service and product. It’s a homey dive bar that anyone can stumble into and be welcomed. The one on the south side has the nicest bartenders and staff. Burgers are great and made how they should be– huge and stacked with anything you’d like. Recommended!

If you are looking for a place to eat and have stumbled on my review please stop and look no further. Eat here. Do it. Stop looking for some place to eat and eat here now. Order a burger and a fat tire and eat. Do it. Seriously the best burger in this town. Only place that compares in a place called the sports page in st louis and it tastes just as amazing. So can eat a good burger here or you can travel the 4 hours to st louis and eat it there.

The best hamburgers and fresh cut fries in town. Ad now it’s non-​smoking as well. I would get the hamburger with a fried egg and bacon if you can’t decide.

I echo the sentiment that this place is a dive. As a matter of fact, it is the epitome of a dive, yet I say that with a smile on my face, especially when I think about the food. The food is traditional bar food but bar food at its best nevertheless. I have been to W.F. Cody’s probably 10 times and usually get something different to eat each time, with every meal being very pleased (not to mention that the portions are HUGE!). All the burgers are delicious and cooked to order. The nachos, fried mushrooms, rueben and ribeye sandwich are awesome as well. The bartenders and servers are great and friendly, always having a smile on their face, even during times when they are swamped. Not necessarily what I would call a fancy place, and it’s not for everyone but I would definitely recommend it for a place to relax with some inexpensive drinks and some of the best comfort food in Springfield.

This place really is a dive with pool tables and smoke in the air. It also has the best cheeseburgers and fries and fried mushrooms in the area. Other things on the menu look good, such as the walleye dinner, but I can’t get past the burgers.
