If you have not yet visited buck and crew, do yourself a favor and go. I got my inserts recently and immediately I felt myself standing staighter. It’s been about 2 weeks and i wear them constantly. I tend bar and am on my feet constantly. I didn’t even realize how uncomfortable I was. My feet feel way more relaxed in all my shoes. I swear I have a little less back pain. Thanks you guys for straightening me out.

There’s a huge difference between purchasing ski boots online vs in person at a shop where the sole focus is on making sure that you the customer have the *right* pair of ski boots for *your* feet. Buck and his team of expert boot fitters have the knowledge, the tools, and the patience that are second to none. You the buyer are certainly making an investment, but here’s the thing that hit me when I walked out of there this past weekend. THEY are making an investment in YOU as well !! These guys will stand behind the products they sell. If you have ANY issues, they will make certain the boots fit your feet. AMAZING ! So, my recommendation, Don’t cut corners with your feet. Stop in and have a cup of coffee (or a beer) and allow these guys work their magic. INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! Thanks Buck!

Only one run into my ski weekend, I couldn’t take it anymore in my terrible rental boots. Some searching on Unilocal and the Internet… all signs pointed to Olympic Bootworks. I was thrilled when I arrived that Buck was available to help me himself (after reading about him on here — he seems legendary). He definitely knows his stuff. After quickly looking at me, he correctly identified that I have really narrow feet, a tendency to roll inwards, and my right foot is longer than the left… and then he came back with a specific model of boot (standard Technica) that he thought would work best for my feet.
I did get his custom foot beds, which just seem like a good idea in general bc the standard piece of foam they put n boots does nothing for you. Im pretty sure that what he charged me $ 180 for wold have been $ 500 elsewhere. The boots themselves were the standard price you would pay at REI or even internet retailers — and $ 200 less than what other resort shops charge. And he didn’t try to sell me custom liners or any other expensive add ons.
He was extremely knowledgable about feet, skiing, and boots… and made me 100% comfortable about the investment I was making in equipment. After skiing on the boots the last two days, I am thrilled with the purchase and service I received.

The best! My wife, brother and I all bought boots and customs footbeds from Buck. Great fits all around. After a few days of skiing, my wife and I went in for a few tweaks which were done on the house. Now we have perfect fitting boots.
You will not find more professional, courteous and expert service. A wonderful experience all the way around. You won’t be in the shop long before you’ll feel like a friend and not just a customer. While I was there, several past customers stopped in just to say hello to Buck or Andy or Wolfie… I’ll be one of them the next time I’m in Squaw.

I went in asking for custom footbeds, and Olympic Bootworks gave me great advice — all I needed was thinner socks! They sold me a great pair of very thin socks and now my ski boots fit great. I totally trust them for custom footbeds and heel cups after that experience — will go back with a different pair of boots. Olympic Bootworks is knowledgable, great customer service, experience employees, and they are doing a great job at boot fitting. Thank you!

Buck and his crew do an excellent job in fitting your ski boots, and are happy to have you return and dial in the fit, even a few years after the purchase when you’ve packed out the liner.
Bucks custom insoles are the bomb, and his customer service is top notch, even without the free beer!

I’m on my second pair of boots customized at Olympic. These guys are the real deal and I wouldn’t ski on anything else! Buck and the crew are super knowledgeable, friendly, and who can turn down a free beer?! They stand by their work and have a life long customer in me.

Buck stood by his fitting! He spent a lot of time helping me get the right boot and promised me if they didn’t work he would get me into another boot (after 2 years of skiing with a bad fitting boot). We were between two boots and he sent me out with one boot. After a half day skiing realized they were too loose and he quickly switched out to the other boot. No hassle — just stood by his word to get me in the right boot. He did make me by a footbed too — but that is probably a good thing. My new boot fitter in squaw is Buck!

Love this store. Every employer in the store is highly professional, they know what they do and while you wait they make you feel at home. Excellent service, fair prices and honest business makes me go back to this store season after season…

Got a pair of food bed orthodics and have been wearing them in my shoes besides when I put them in my boots last week for skiing Definitely notice a difference and they not only feel great but through the information by owner/​inventor Buck, I feel very confident about these custom fits. Their shop is located very close walking distance to the squaw valley ski resort and the staff was very informative, professional and helpful.

I’ve now skied 6 days on my new Lange boots with Buck’s custom insole and Intuition liners. What a world of difference from my old tubby boots! The heel cup in the custom insole provides tremendous precision, and my big powder skis that I used to struggle to control are now tractable.
Buck and his staff were welcoming, fun, and professional. Highly recommended.

I’ve been skiing 53 seasons — taught, patrolled and just enjoyed the sport. Best boot shop in Tahoe. Their footbeds are comfortable and used by many of the Tahoe pros. I brought my boots and rock skis in at 4:45 pm on Saturday to have the bindings remounted. The boots and skis were waiting for me at 8:00 am Sunday morning. That’s the kind of shop they are. Focus is on customer service. Buck and Andy are nice people who are pleasant to deal with.

This is by far the best boot fit in Squaw Valley. Great coffee while you get fitted. Butch and Andy are really good guys. I needed a small adjustment on my new Lang Rx, they did it in 15 and I hung out a watched a bit of the 49ers game.
BTW it is snowing big time at squaw. Ride away R. Postell Insurance.

Fabulous service, even better products. The most expertise in the area. I had my ski boot liners replaced and was fitted with custom made insoles and the guys were fun, attentive and incredibly knowledgable throwing in ski tips and tricks throughout the session. A necessary product for any and every Olympic Valley athlete, weekend warrior or gaper. Thanks for the new set up guys– I’m sure to have some happy feet all winter long :-) cheerz!

Had a wonderful experience getting new ski boots for my wife and I. Buck was not only professional but also genuinely concerned about making sure that we had the best *long-​term* skiing experience.

Thinking that my boot shells and liners/​orthotics were in need of replacement, I visited Buck at Olympic Bootworks for a second opinion. After a few seasons, my trusty boots were packing out and feeling sloppy. A number of my local friends pointed me to this boot shop in Squaw Valley. Buck was very courteous and professional. His recommendation was to keep the boot shells and insert new liners and orthotics. We went this route and I have no regrets — my boots feel «light and lively». It’s been a drier season (to date) but so far so good skiing on limited terrain. I would highly recommend Olympic Bootworks,…and their coffee is amazing. Keep the fingers crossed for more snow!

Buck at Olympic Bootworks has designed a custom footbed for ski and snowboard boots along with hiking and workwear.
I am an avid skier and through the years I have owned numerous brands of custom footbeds. They include super feet cork a couple of times, amfit and several others.
I had Buck custom mold his footbeds for my ski boots. I bought them and skied them. I can honestly say they are the best footbeds I have owned. I have always needed canting work on my ski boot soles however with Buck’s footbeds, I am spot on. They are also warmer than my cork footbeds. Buck’s concept is the forefoot buckles remain looser and his footbed locks in the heal. It works! This also keeps your toes warmer.
They ski great, my left turn improved immediately.
I like them so much, I just got some of Buck’s heat modable liners. Check out Buck’s shop, I think you will be pleased. All the employees are very knowledgable and great to work with.

I am the owner of AKD Lawn and Landscape and I’m on my feet all day long for up to 12 hours at a time. I recently had problems with my big toes going numb at the end of the day. I have trusted Buck and his staff with my feet in my ski boots and when I heard that Buck had invented a new orthotic that is meant for hiking, working, trail running and anything else you do on your feet, I had to rush up to see what was up. Orthotics, custom liners, an expert shell fit, and an on-​hill evaluation later, I wound up not only with comfortable, high-​performance boots, but with a connection to my skis I’ve never felt before!
Doug at Olympic Bootworks is not just a boot-​fitter. He’s a skier, a mountaineer, a patient consultant, and is genuinely interested in making you better when you get out there. The approach he and the rest of the guys take is customized, thorough, and worth every penny! HIGHLY recommended!!!

I worked with Doug on my first set of custom footbeds. 30 minutes and dozens of micro-​adjustments later, the «mold» of my foot had been made and I was one step closer to a much improved skiing experience.
The completed footbeds were ready in about a day, cost $ 200 + tax, and literally have changed the way I ski. I know it’s easy to overhype a small adjustment to one’s skiing gear, but it’s the truth. Given the way the footbed cradles my heel and supports the arch, each turn is initiated quickly and confidently. I can’t recommend them enough.
Quick aside: when I picked up the footbeds, Buck (the owner) was in the shop. He was discussing how his methodologies and techniques were fundamentally different from other custom footbed options in the market. It was really cool to see someone that passionate about his craft. It’s also great to support a local guy who only cares about how much fun you have out on the slopes.
