History

Established in 2001.

The founder Jonas Brihammar worked at the St. Augustine Lighthouse and encountered unexplained paranormal activity as documented in the TV series My Ghost Story Season 2, Episode 3. He proceeded with opening the first Ghost Store in St. Augustine and it is still located at the same address at 123 St. George Street downtown St. Augustine’s Historical Quarters. Jonas acquired the rights to the K-​II (K2) EMF meter and brought it to fame on SyFy’s the Ghost Hunters. He also met with the Taps team when they filmed at the St. Augustine Lighthouse.

In 2002, GhoSt Augustine started the Original Haunted Pub Tour as the first Pub Crawl i St. Augustine. Not until 2008 would the first copy tour begin in town. GhoSt Augustine also started the Original Hearse Rides Ghost Tour of St. Augustine in 2004. In 2009 Haunted St. Augustine came under GhoSt Augustine’s umbrella. In 2011 the Dead Walk started and 2014 the ParaForce Investigations and Everdark Shadow Shuttle which enters 2 haunted houses!

After 12 years of school in native Sweden and completing service in the Royal Swedish Navy as Boat Chief, he studied in America the senior year in High School and then went on to college and graduated with a BS in Economics after studies in Alabama. He worked 1 year in sales in Miami, FL and then returned to Stockholm for a career in sales and advertising and later as a business owner who quickly received national media attention for his company. After being awarded with a U.S. permanent residence visa Jonas emigrated to St. Augustine, in the year 2000 and took a position at the Lighthouse in a managerial position to work in this historic town to put his passion for history and the maritime world to use along with his business skills. Since the Lighthouse is haunted, Jonas had several experiences of the paranormal and got the idea to start GhoSt Augustine, which he did in May 2001. He made the K2 meter famous and a staple for ghost hunting which has kept it in continued production.

Cue was a great pub crawl ghost tour guide. Very knowledgeable of the city and paranormal. If you are looking to experience a few different bars and hear a few stories then this is for you for $ 20, plus you get a free beer at the first place.

It was our first time in St. Augustine so we wanted to hear the history with a fun flair, as well as explore with the investigative electromagnetic readers. For minimal investigative work and more history, they recommended Dead Walk over Haunted St. Augustine. Our guide was a long time local and knowledgable about the history of the various sites. I felt that made a positive difference in the experience though I don’t have anything to compare it to seeing as it was a first time. I don’t wish to endanger the «secret recipe» of their tour by sharing the locations (this is apparently a hugely competitive business) BUT I will say there were about 10 – 12 sites visited (only one of which we went indoors… And no cemetery). They are just some of the MANY city sites with «paranormal activity». Because our group was so small we were able to see more and we even went a little over our allotted 90 minutes, so I recommend calling ahead and asking how full the tour is. The stories and history seem accurate from the what I read online and in other reviews. Will be back to explore more of the investigative tours. Though family friendly and not scary at all (except for maybe the famous Antique Shop), I would recommend this tour strictly for mature teenagers or adults. The other theatrical tours will be more engaging for the little ones. Informative and better than a plain old walking tour but a little underwhelming. Those electromagnetic tools seem like a joke– none of them really «lit up» during our walk through and I only got one of many photos with an «orb spirit».

My friend & I did the Everdark Express Shuttle tour on a Saturday night at 9:15pm last weekend. This was my first ghost tour in St. Augustine. It was very difficult to distinguish what tour from what company was the best for the evening. After in depth research, this place offered the best tour experiences! Our evening was fantastic!!!
It hurts me to say I forgot our tour guide’s name. It may have been Rick, but it was a guy. This guy was completely awesome and right on point with the tour. He told us stories, answered our questions, set up the mood for each place, describe the places in details, told us where to search, and dropped us off at the Fort. We told him we can walk back, but he insisted to drop us off all the way there at our parked car. Awesome customer service here!
Now back to the tour details. Yes, you visit 4 places total on this tour.

The shuttle van was comfy and offered AC. The tour was perfect timing, didn’t feel rushed, and felt like we got our money’s worth. There were a few things I thought were cheap tricks, but besides that the tour was worth it. You did get to use some ghost tools in the tour. I liked the idea you were able to walk around freely without being told or watched every second. I took a lot of pictures and videos. I’ll post them on here when I can.
I experienced no issues or problems with this company. I would highly recommend using this company for your tour booking desires. They offer a few different tours. The Everdark Shuttle tour was about 2 hours and it was totally worth it!

We just took this tour with Rick. Let me start by saying I have been on a number of these tours and the guide makes all of the difference. Some seem very scripted and touristy and, at times, misinformed about the history of whatever city it was at the time. Rick was personable and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. We took along three kids and they had an awesome experience. Rick handed everyone an EMF meter with instructions how it worked and the kiddos were scanning everything in sight on the tour. We were fortunate enough to get a photograph of of the gate keeper’s daughter, Elizabeth, near the end of the tour. We took the 90 minute tour, but I wouldn’t mind ponying up for a longer experience. I have no doubt it is one of the better tours out there.

Rick was a wonderful guide. We booked the «semi-​private tour «for a Saturday night. We were very happy when we found out we were the only ones booked on the tour for that night. We given two prices of equipment for our investigation that night and then headed to an old antique store for our first attempt to make contact with any spirits. Rick was knowledgable of historic information for the city and stopped to tell us about several points of interest. We spent about 30 mins in the antique store and used our equipment along with a few other things Rick had packed in his back pack the. Headed to our next stops. We visits a cemetery, the city gates, several other areas with historic significance. Our last stop was the fort. At this point it was very dark and my only complaint is we had not been given flash lights to use here, so bring your own. Overall the tour was wonderful and we all had a wonderful time. Because we ended up being the only ones on the tour Rick was nice enough to extend our tour by about 30 – 45 min which was awesome! Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city but bring your comfortable walking shoes. You will need them for this tour!

OBVIOUSLY St. Augustine has some haunted vibes. If you want to explore cool/​potentially haunted places, you should totally utilize this Ghost tour service! Went with a group in a HEARSE and had endless fun and some scares too.

My husband and I went on the Everdark Express shuttle tour. We ended up being the only two people on it which was both good and bad. Our tour guides were ok. They seemed pretty knowledgeable about the history but seemed really out of their element with people who had a lot of experience with actual paranormal investigations. It made for quite a few awkward and uncomfortable moments. They are REALLY into the Ghost Hunters tv show and talk about them A LOT yet do so much stuff that goes against TAPS investigation philosophy. I thought that was a bit off.
First off whom ever gives out directions for these people has zero sense of direction. We were told to meet at a bar directly across from the fort. The bar was actually about a block away (luckily we arrived early). We were told to arrive 30 minutes early but there was no one there to greet us and the bar staff had no idea what we were talking about. They should probably let the bar know that they tell people to meet there or something.
The tour consisted of an antique shop, a graveyard, an apartment that I’m guessing was supposed to be a «private» investigation, and a drive by of the lighthouse since they do not have permission to be on the lighthouse property. I thought it was a bit sketchy to obviously be taking large groups of people who pay you money to places that you aren’t allowed to be. So be warned future tour goers… you could be arrested for trespassing. Plus this goes against pretty much every paranormal investigation rule ever. You are ALWAYS supposed to have permission to be where you are.
Another down side was during the apartment tour where they were doing the «private» investigation the group talked loudly the WHOLE time. It would have been fine if they were talking about the investigation or history ect but it was about their personal lives. I felt it was pretty unprofessional and the level of noise wasn’t conducive to investigating.
Overall it was ok. It was entertaining, informative, and probably would have been better with more people as I don’t like being the center of attention. Tickets are a bit expensive but I feel we got our money’s worth. I’m fully ok with my purchase and would go again.

Haunted Pub Crawl
Ghost stories and alcohol, what’s not to love?! The tour was definitely entertaining though it felt like we didn’t spend a full half hour at some of the stops and therefore the beers felt a bit rushed and some of the stories felt a bit quick but it’s probably just because we were the last group of the night and the guide wanted to make sure we’d make it to all of the bars in time. A lot of fun overall!

My husband, myself, and my 8 and 10 year old did the van Shadow tour– our guide was a St Augustine native and was very knowledgeable of the area. He gave us a lot of insight into the history of the area and the paranormal. This is not a theatrical tour. We stopped at a cemetery, an old antique shop, an old apartment above a pub, and the old lighthouse. They give you EMF meters to use as well. The tour actually went a little longer than I expected– it was 3 hours– I’m not sure how we could have squeezed it into 2. There were 13 total people in the van– and the other people were mad because i sat in the front seat with my kids because I get car sick. We got there early, before the other people-​so I felt I kind of had dibs on the seating anyhow. They arrived at the time we should have been leaving to start the tour– and they were a bit on the heavy side and made a comment that the small people should have to sit in the back @@. So, I recommend you get there early– and be aware– you are going to be squeezed into a 14 passenger van. While this was not very scary– it was educational, interesting, and a bit creepy at a few places. Overall, this a a very good tour and our guide did an excellent job giving us history and facts. We got back after midnight– and he was very nice to offer to drop everyone off where they wanted. Also, be sure to have cash– as these drivers work off of gratuities.

We took the driving investigative tour. The whole thing is investigation. It’s a different experience, but I kind of missed the more traditional ghost tour where they take you around and point out the haunted spots while giving you history. The tour guide was pretty monotone and basically only told us some history of the places we’d be walking through. They give you a K2 meter with not much explanation and let you walk around asking questions. The only one that «worked» was the one near the tour guide’s cell phone. While it was entertaining, it was not my favorite tour.

This tour was very long and not fun. We took the 11:30 van tour. We watched people talk to flashlights and play with a flashing toy and a cell phone app that talks. (it’s suppose to be a spirit guide that apparently is into modern tech) the spirits chat through the cell phone. It was very costly save you’re money ! Go to mellow mushroom instead ! Or somewhere nice for dinner along the lake !

It took to damn long. It is not a 90 min walking pub crawl it is a three hour history lesson with some stops for beverages because you need water in this heat!!!
Not interesting although I am sure the facts that were given were correct, I am just to tired to check accuracy at this point.
Nothing haunted nothing remotely interesting on this tour.

Went on the dead walk tour with Sean. He was great! Very knowledgable about the curries dark past and took us around to all the areas known to be active with spirits.
We went into the antique store which was super cool as well! Next time we probably do one with a little more investigating but it was def great for the price we paid. This is my third tour with this company and I’m never disappointed.

My honey and I went to St. Augustine for a vacation this past year and we wanted to explore all that this beautiful city had to offer. I own a haunted travel and tourism business called Para Adventures, (shameless self promo there… haha) and I’m always looking for places to team up with for my trips.
I went in and met a lady there who was fanstastic! She told me to go on the walking pub tour and the locations that were on the walk were great, and I’d love to go back and explore them. Our guide was fantastic and even broke into character with is top hat and would change his tone towards the mood of the story.
For dealing with a bunch of potentially drunk participants he did a fantastic job, and we had such a great time. The last stop of the tour I was taking pictures with my phone, and randomly caught something that didn’t end up in all my frames. He said at that location it’s very common for the guests to pick up different things while on the tour.
Next time I go back to St. Augustine I will definitely head back for another go round to see if they have any new stories. We even went on the best night you could go, Halloween: D Talk about festive. No literally I was dressed in a Silent Hill Costume as we wandered through the town, and my honey was dressed as Cobra Commander. Awesome time and great people running the tours!
