Ghost Hearse

I will share the good and not so great, giving this an average rating. The good: guide Juan was very informative and I liked his honesty about not indulging folklore. It was also a good history lesson! The not so great, once you get in the hearse you drive by some places but can’t really see. After all, a hearse is not meant for sightseeing, but this was the not so good. One of the interesting stops was the lighthouse where you can’t get out. I will say it seems the city is trying to protect the history of these places so it makes sense, but I think a bus or trolley would have been better equipped to handle that part of the tour. There are also no EMF readers on the hearse tour so it must be a different tour where you read those reviews.

Sorry! Guide was nice and knowledgable on the history ST Augustine, however it was not what I expected. We walked a little the first leg of the tour and then got in the hearse. Don’t sit in the back or you won’t be able to see anything! Also you don’t use any devices or go inside anywhere like advertised!!!
Not worth the money we paid!!!

At. Augustine is the oldest city in America, so naturally it’s rich history. Along with that history came many, many deaths– some agonizing, some not. I walked the streets of St. Augustine not knowing of the mass graves that were buried below me until I took the Ghost a Hearse Tour. There’s many tours to choose from but this one is the best. Our tour guide’s name was Juan and he did an excellent job. I was seriously intrigued and spooked out. He picked us up in an old hearse and took us all through town, telling us stories. We heard tales of in forbidden love that ended in death as we stood underneath an oak tree. But it was not just any oak tree, sprouting out of the top was an actual palm tree– an oakpalm, symbolizing a love that interwined that never died. We then moved onto Potter’s wax museum which used to be the old pharmacy that holds the headstone of an Indian chief. When that headstone was moved the building was cursed and business began to fail and the architectural structure of the building began to lean as each day passed. Those are some of the stories we heard along with stories of unrested soldiers, an unruly judge, mass burials many more. We also went to the old light house, flager college, the fort and other historic buildings. Such a thrilling ride. We also got a. EVP meter to monitor ghostly activities as we explored town. This tour will spook you out if that’s what you’re looking for but even more importantly, you will learn so much history of the beloved town of at. Augustine. If you happen to be in town, the ghost hearse tour is a must. Juan was also one a «Juan» in a million tour guide. The ghost hearse awaits you– take a ride back into history. Let me also warn you that I was too scared to sleep alone for about a week. After the tour I was even too scared to use the woman’s bathroom alone in st. Augustine

Fun tour, fun guide. Unfortunately it rained for our tour, but the guide made sure not to let that ruin the tour. A couple pictures taken by other guests on the tour had some ghostly figures in them. This tour was no joke, absolutely recommend giving this tour a shot.
Our mode of transportation was a hearse with an interesting history that you’ll have to hear for yourself!

This tour was absolutely JUANderful! All joking aside, Juan is an excellent guide. As a sort of ghost tour snob, I feel confident to report that this is one of the best tours I have been on. His stories are true and researched and factual, rather than fictionalized accounts of historical events. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves history with a bit of spine-​tingling fun!

This was amazing!!! First we went into a creepy little store to buy our tickets. I went with a group of friends and that’s the best way to experience this tour. Don’t go with strangers it’s just not the same! Then, we all gathered next to an old, creepy hearse that was altered so that a group could sit in the back right where the caskets used to sit! It’s a real hearse that held thousands of bodies! We drove through the haunted city and learned about gruesome murders, ancient deaths and haunted building in this ancient haunted town! They parked at one point and gave us all our very own EMF readers to determine if any ghosts were nearby disrupting the electro magnetic fields! While I was walking near the lighthouse my camera went off by itself!!! It made everyone scream! I still can’t explain it but one picture I captured had an orb with a face in it! Then, I walked alone near a train track where two kids were killed. That was creepy as two swings on a playground started moving and my EMF reader went crazy! I loved this tour!

We made last minute reservations and managed to get onto the 9:15 tour of the Ghost Hearse. I’m glad I chose this over the other ghost tours in St. Augustine. Admittedly, I’ve done others, but this one was unique.
What makes it unique? Well other than riding in a vintage hearse, you get to use equipment like a KII meter and you get to visit 3 locations, and actually go inside a haunted location. Being a natural sensitive, I’d hoped for some activity and we were not disappointed!
The antique’s shop was our first stop, there seems to be a LOT of activity in this location and between the oppressive weight I felt on my chest and the pulling of my hair, I knew we were in for something fun! Brannen, our tour guide, gave us some of the history of the building, gave those who didn’t know, an over view on how to use the meters and then let us do some investigating on our own. As I mentioned, I had a few personal experiences. My friend, David, is a skeptic, and even he was getting hits on his meter, and feeling a sense of trepidation.
Our second location brought us to a B&B where the tour guide gave us the over view of what happened, and then we walked across the street to a small park, where a boy was said to have drowned in the well. Almost no one was having any luck, but I got some hits after playing Ring-​around-​the Rosie. What can I say, I have a way with «kids».
I was using an app in conjunction with the KII meter that allowed words to be heard, and we got some interesting communication with our visitation at the Military cemetery. There was very little EMF activity, but the «spirits» were chatty that evening.
Our last stop of the evening were the grounds of the Lighthouse. I love that place! I’ve been on their tour, and have walked all 212 steps up to the top, but on this tour, we simply got to walk the front yard. Some energy spikes and some photo work showed some orbs, but little else came to pass.
For me, these tours are a great way to find out a bit more of the city’s history and have a fun way of doing it. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone wanting to go on a Ghost Tour in St. Augustine.

Jeff did a great job. My daughters and I had a blast! I’ve been on many tours, and I really appreciate the fact he didn’t try to «fluff» the experience with a bunch of folklore. We visited many parts of town I never would have ventured on my own. I loved the area near the Lightner Museum and the history of Henry Flagler. Jeff also did a great job recounting the murder of Athalia Ponsell. All in all, we would highly recommend this tour!

Overall the tour was ok. It included 3 stops: A bed and breakfast, the lighthouse grounds, and the military graveyard. We got a bonus stop at the park across from the lighthouse.
Our guide was a middle aged woman who was quite knowlegeable about the area and a supposedly «professional» paranormal investigator that was so old and frail that I was scared that he was going to become a ghost at any second!
The hearse was fun to ride in but it was pretty cramped so the big and /​or tall be warned! Our group was quite large and the two biggest guys sat in the very back of the car and it was still pretty crowded.
It was a fun tour full of interesting history but the downside of it was that they were very pro «everything is a ghost». The area is quite moist and humid but it fell on deaf ears when I told everyone that the «orb» pictures that they were taking outside were humidity.
It’s worth the money for the history alone and ghosts are a plus!

We went on this tour several years ago and had a wonderful time. The old, gothic hearse is really cool, although your personal space is limited and you become friendly with every person on the tour pretty quickly. Because space is so limited in the hearse, the tour size is small which makes for a much more personal experience.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and never once sounded scripted. He didn’t rush through any of the stops we made and gave us plenty of time to ask questions. He never minded the number of questions and was happy to answer each and every one, often inspiring another cool and intriguing story.
Several times throughout the tour I got goose bumps and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. When we were at the old lighthouse, I was genuinely creeped out and actually found myself anxious to climb back into the hearse to get the heck away!
If you love ghost stories and are looking to have a fun time, I can’t recommend this tour highly enough! It’s worth every penny!

While you’re in St. Augustine its hard not to take a ghost tour at night. There is so much history in almost every place. you’ll likely learn at your first stop how many of the main historical sites are haunted. So, its hard not to want to walk around with someone who knows the stories a little better.
We went with the walking tour, it was such beautiful weather out, and the tickets were only $ 8 so even if the tour happened to suck it wouldnt be like we took any kind of a financial dent.
Our tour guide, James, was very knowledgable and he answered al of our many probing questions with extensive detail and a bonus joke at the end. He was very accomidating and didnt mind stopping for bathroom/​coffee breaks along the way. His priority was to make everyone comfortable, which is a really good work ethic.
I enjoyed the tour. I learned allot about the ghost stories of the city and also burned off some of the hot chocolate that I was drinking at the time!
I’d recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting st. augustine. Its fun and interesting.
