Willard’s Bar B Q Juntion

Not your average gas station adjacent eating option, Willard’s BBQ Junction is a small restaurant scattered with country décor making for a cozy spot with an ample menu, offering beer and wine and friendly service. Our server (the only person there minus chefs it appeared) was friendly, warm and prompt. He paid attention to details like our table that didn’t appear quite clean enough and took care of it right away. The service got this joint the stars, the food, however…
The food wasn’t bad or gross and actually a good size, but it just wasn’t much of anything exciting. $ 8.99 I ordered the marinated chicken wrap with one side (coleslaw). Both the wrap’s chicken and the slaw appeared pre-​packaged. The wrap didn’t have a hint of «marinated» flavor to it. Disappointing. Decent in size, it lacked flavor and anything resembling BBQ. Just a chicken wrap with lettuce, tomato and cheese.
My husband had the pork salad $ 8.99. Decent amount of pork and he said the meat tasted good, but again, average iceberg salad and nothing special. The sweet potato fries we shared were hot and fresh, but lacked salt.
There are 4 BBQ sauces on the table — mustard, sweet, Carolina, & hot. I didn’t personally care for any of them but picked the sweet for some flavor to the fries and wrap.
It’s better than a Subway, McDonald’s or junk food from a gas station that you often see attached to has stations, but missed the mark to be memorable.

My mom and I decided to stop in after church and the food was so delicious. The décor really fits the BBQ theme without being too cheesy. We started off with the fried pickles and out of all the fried pickles I’ve had, these were definitely in the top 3! My mom ordered the marinated bbq chicken wrap with coleslaw and really enjoyed it. The chicken was moist and the wrap was a good size. I ordered the pulled pork lunch with coleslaw and French fries, and it also came with garlic bread. The coleslaw was great and the fries were hot and fresh. The pulled pork was moist and I paired it with the sweet bbq sauce. They offer four different types of sauce: sweet, hot, Carolina, and mustard. The staff is super friendly and always there to check in and to see if you need anything. I’ll definitely be coming back, even ordered a to go lunch for my husband.

The pulled pork barbecue sandwich was great! The French fries were frozen crinkle cut — barbecue places should have fresh cut fries!!!

This is next door to a BP gas station. We were greeted by a nice young lady. The place was clean and had a lot of helpers. I ordered the sliced pork, cole slaw and BBQ beans. Hubby got the same but with fried corn. The ½ ear was actually deep fried and was tasty. The beans were very sweet with a little heat. I had to put some mustard BBQ sauce in them to tone the sweetness down.
I was hungry and this little place filled me up. Hubby and I walked away for under $ 19.

Highly recommend the beef brisket or turkey. Great smoky flavor on all of their meats, but I lowered my rating by one star, as their sides have never been great for me. Nice, friendly staff. Many repeat customers frequent the restaurant every weekday, so it is fun to watch that interaction.

Pulled over from highway near St. Augustine, purely based on reviews. Weird part is that it is next to a BP gas station. Actually now that i think about it, that is great thinking. We order 6 pcs chicken wings (sun special .60 cents) as appetizer. The moment we walked in, you open the door, a fantastic scent of bbq and smokey meats welcomes you. You sit anywhere, no alcohol service at all. The wings were bbq, not fried. They come dressed or not your choice. On the table you have a choice several sauces. Carolina, sweet bbq, hot and mustard. So you can concoction your very own sauce for whatever meats you order. I wanted to try the giant baked potato loaded (butter, sourcream, cheddar and pull pork) you can have other meats on your potato if you want. Let me just say i was able to share a bake potato 3 ways. yes that potato was huge. They have an open kitchen concept, the staff is very attentive and friendly. For a moment i forgot i was next to the gas station. I also order the lunch special of pulled pork, sweet potato fries and a salad which was a nice size serving. In all the food was unexpectedly delicious, the pull pork was smokey and since u have all the sauces on the table, you control the flavors. If i lived here, i be buying gas and lunch at this place. Worthy spot to stop when you are off I 95 in St Augustine. My bill for food was under $ 29 for 3ppl. Cheap N delicious! Parking is limited, we got here shortly before noon, and the place was just getting busy.

We tried this place due to Unilocal reviews. I will say this, Willard’s knocked it out of the park with their food selections. Although I wanted the loaded potato, they had just run out, we got their after the dinner rush. So I opted for the feast for two (my wife was with me). With their decent selection of sides to choose from, we asked our server for some recommendations. We got the baked beans, coleslaw and green beens. Let me tell you, the green beans were unreal and the coleslaw was out of this world. The feast meats included sliced pork, chicken, ribs and sliced beef. All great choices. The ribs and chicken were my favorites. Service was quick and the food great. Next time we come back this way, Willard’s will be our go to dinner spot. On a last note, we wanted to try the banana pudding but that was out as well. our server recommended the triple chocolate cake. My wife and I split that and it was good. When we got our bill, our server took 10% off due to me not being able to get the potato or pudding. Great customer service.

Great bbq for a reasonable price!
My husband liked the sliced turkey so much, we are now considering getting a few pounds of Willard’s in lieu of a Whole bird for Thanksgiving!
This place is in the same strip as BP but don’t let that discourage you– love it!

Pretty good! I got their baked potato that had pulled pork in it. Delicious! Their BBQ sauces are really good too! I think they also have Cherwine soda as well!

Great moist flavorful Bbq that you could eat without Bbq sauce. The people are always friendly. Only wish they were open later so I could eat here more often.

Some of the best BBQ around (a close 2^nd to Mojos or 4Rivers). Small dining room but good for a small group. Great for take out as well.

Wow! We just enjoyed a very good meal here. I had pulled pork with the green beans and onion rings. Hubs had ribs with green beans and baked beans. First of all, that is the fastest I’ve ever been served a meal in a restaurant. Bono’s and Woody’s, move over because Willards BBQ Junction kicks butt with the service. Pulled pork was tender and tasty and excellent with the mustard barbecue sauce. Green beans were very good — they are Italian cut green beans with bits of pork and chicken mixed in. Yum! Onion rings were battered, not breaded, which is a plus for me. They were a nice size, and not too big. I even enjoyed the Texas toast which in most places is only fair. Hubs said the ribs were good but a little on the dry side, but would not prevent him from ordering again. He agreed the green beans were awesome.
Willards gets four stars because they do not serve any beer or wine or any alcohol. We enjoy a good cold beer with our BBQ.
I am especially excited that this place is close to home and so if I need a hot, low-​carb lunch I can pop over there, grab something and take it back home. They also sell meat by weight so I can probably pick up a couple of days worth of lunches.

Fantastic food. Ordered the sliced pork and it was perfect. Liked the sweet sauce the best. Good slaw and toast.

I’m pretty picky about BBQ and Willard’s is up there with the best you can find in NE Florida. On my first visit I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was great. Since then I’ve had several things from the menu and I’ve never been dissapointed.
I would suggest the baked potato. It’s HUGE! It came with a ton of meat and was delicious.
I’m knocking off one star only because of the sauce selection which was standard for this area. The spicy sauce wasn’t spicy at all and the other sauces were just okay.
If they kicked up their sauce game this place would outrank all the other BBQ joints around here.

Wonderful new bbq place. We really needed a good local bbq joint in town. Great food, polite service. All next to a gas station!

Solid authentic BBQ with variety of sauces to enhance the meat. I had sliced meat, sliced pork, and ribs combo. All meats were tender and I was pleasantly surprised with the spare ribs. Baked beans were a little smoky for my taste.

Good solid BBQ in an unexpected location. Definitely do not judge this place by the dump of a gas station it’s connected to. Based on Unilocal reviews and proximity to the hotel I decided to try it. Service was over the top awesome. Staff was very attentive and on top of it. I had the pulled pork dinner. It came with two sides. I chose fries and green beans. The fries were good but the beans (beans mixed with a little pork) were excellent! The pork itself wasn’t over powered with smoke flavor it was just right. I added the hot BBQ sauce which was somewhat mild for my liking but it was tasty. I will definitely go back!!!

The BBQ and sides are wonderfully seasoned! There are many restaurants/​cafés that have occupied the space in the past. I believe that BBQ Junction is here to stay. The service is efficient and prompt as well. We will make this a regular stop!

Great BBQ! Reasonably priced and very quick! We had the pulled pork sandwhich and it was delicious! Their BBQ sauces are great too! We will definitely be back!
