Best Western Plus The Charles Hotel

For some strange reason this place doesn’t have VH1 and BET… hmmmmm…wonder WHY?
not worth the $ 120+ dollars that i paid. The front desk Manager is a dick head. Breakfast is blah… parking is terrible… take the PLUS off the name and just name is Best Western… my stay here was just OK.

The Charles Hotel is an older Best Western. The hotel shows it’s age, especially in the common areas. However, our room was so clean. To me I can deal with a little age if my room is clean. I checked all the usual places: behind the toilet, in the corner of the bathroom, the bed skirt, and remote and they all passed my test. Knowing that the room was clean made me feel comfortable. Speaking of comfortable, I loved the bed! My husband hated it. He prefers hard pillows so you may want to bring some if you don’t like the soft, down variety. Also, the breakfast is terrible (though most chain hotel breakfasts are). Bring your own food and pillows and you should be set.

AAA booked this hotel for us, and I must say, I was VERY pleasantly surprised with it! As a pet friendly hotel, I expect it to be reasonable, but not super nice — this one was exceptional!
The room itself was very spacious. With 2 adults and 2 small cats, we had plenty of space. We had a room with 2 very nice queen beds, which I appreciated.
The hotel itself was very modern looking. From the art to the very colors they used to decorate, I thought everything looked pretty sharp. I liked the nice amenities they had — Bath and Body works shampoo, conditioner, and soap, for example. Also, a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and nice,
Our only 2 small complaints were that the refrigerator in the room made a pretty annoying humming noise, so we had to unplug it, and there was something sticky under the bed, along with some pencil shavings, that our cat got in her fur.
Overall, no big complaints. A really nice hotel, especially for the rate! I would not hesitate for a second to stay here again if we were in the area.

Stayed for 4 nights here and was «pleasantly «surprised– we originally had a 5^th floor room and asked for ground floor which they happily accommodated– the two women at front desk were SUPER FRIENDLY!
I was alittle creeped out by a guy who was just standing at that counter — like all night– must have been one of their boyfriends or something because I walked by later and he was STILL there eating a sandwich… :-|
Anyway, the hotel was trendy and clean, nice basic two queen bed room– great pool for the kids, and outstanding continental breakfast! The two men who staff the breakfast were outstanding and so friendly!!! They were working very hard!
My one major MAJOR annoyance with our stay was the ridiculous HUMIDITY level in our room. It was super humid outside but the room felt WET the entire time. The AC was down to 66° just so it would cool off in there– and the lack of ventilation in the bathroom turned it into the Amazon Rainforest after a shower or bath which then oozed into the rest of the room! For a person who despises humidity, this almost was a deal breaker– but because of the great price on room $ 93.99 on Priceline, and the fact that it was already paid for, i roughed it…
Unilocal should have ratings for individual parts of stay so we could rate accordingly.
So– decent few days, great staff, etc! A good place to stay if you like humidity. :)

Stayed for two nights and ended up waking up with giant itchy bite marks all over both my arms!!! I informed the girl at the front desk but who knows if anything will be done about it.
Reception desk area is very nice and the room I got was spacious, but a lamp in the corner of the room didn’t work (which may have helped me detect any bed bugs when I first came into the room.)
This is a very nice hotel but I’m miserable from these bites. Definitely won’t be staying at a Best Western for awhile.

Have had a great stay here, we even extended!
Rooms quite comfortable and had no problems with wifi at all!
The breakfast was adequate — although it could have gone until 10 instead of 9am.
All staff were very friendly and helpful!

We stayed here last weekend as part of a small family trip — we had four rooms. It was nice that the hotel was able to put us on the same floor — all in a row. That’s a plus!
Front desk staff during the day and early evening was super friendly, as was housekeeping staff we encountered. That’s a plus!
The nighttime staff, however, I’m not sold on. We went to the casino one night and I decided to return earlier than my BF, so I rode back to the hotel with his mom. Realizing he had the key and I didn’t, we stopped at the front desk for a duplicate. The gentleman working the desk did not ask for name or an ID before he started punching the numbers to make the new key. All we gave him was the room number. That was a little un-​settling. That’s a minus.
Free breakfast? Plus! Weird hours and not very flavorful? Minus. This one’s a wash.
Biggest minus of them all? Our room had ANTS. They weren’t there when we checked in (that we could see) but when we checked out two days later, there were ants. We didn’t spill any drinks or leave any food out, so I’m not quite sure how that one happened.
Sorry, Best Western Plus. I think we’ll stay at the Ameristar next time.

Only one complaint. The wifi is complete garbage. Doesn’t work at all.
Everything else about this hotel is awesome. Nice rooms, friendly staff, delicious breakfast. I like this place. But they need to completely redo their internet package, cause it sucks.

Customer service was excellent. Room was very nice and clean. It was in a nice location with in walking distance to restaurants and stores, which was helpful because we were having car repairs done nearby. Pet friendly! Reasonable rates! Highly recommended
