Lil’ Red Schoolhouse Antiques

Wow– what an awesome little store! They used to be in Warrenville but pretty recently moved to this St. Charles location. Yes, the new building is now yellow, but the name is still the same. it is SO cute with tons of character and I think the location is awesome– there is a lot to see nearby too.
The people working are so lovely– very friendly and kind and seem like they LOVE what they are doing. I love supporting businesses like this!
I like that they have a combination of cool antiques but also great gourmet and gift items too. They have amazing chocolates by Amy Peterson. They also have great soy candles. They have jams and unique vinegars and also great classy lotions/​soaps too. My latest favorite is these cool chain necklaces that you can add charms to– I’ve seen people wearing them– I’m not sure what they are called but my friend gave me one that says «i hope» with a «k» charm and a purple bead and it just makes me so happy. When we stopped in today I made one for my sister that says ‘i run” — I think she’s going to love it.
They also just added Sassy Sparrow purses– they are super cute and fun looking. Don’t miss the vintage jewelry collection they have in the case by the cash register too.
They always seem to have something new. They also have cool specials and sales– today was their spring sale and they had good discounts. They have a Facebook page and also recently opened an Etsy store online.
The shop is just off of North Avenue/​State St. in St. Charles– you turn to go north onto 2^nd and then turn left onto State and the shop is right there. I encourage you to pay a visit to the Li’l Red Schoolhouse– I think you’ll be glad you did!

I stumbled onto this place when looking for garage sales in Warrenville. Super cute! The name doesn’t lie, the rooms are «Li’l» so don’t bring any bulky purses that’ll cause you to knock everything over.
But there are several li’l rooms all chock full of antique-​y goodness! There’s no dusty smell, they seem to keep the place nice and clean. Decent prices, and the lady up front was very friendly!
Parking is tricky, only 3 spots in front, but there’s parking on the side.
It is an old building (but not falling apart as another reviewer said), so it is not wheelchair accessible.

I stop by here at least once a month, as it’s on my way home from work. They have just recently remodeled & the place looks much larger in front room. Several sellers who offer a variety of antiques.
I always end up finding something in this cute lil antique shop. Friendly staff & many many jems for a fellow «antiquer».
I will continue to stop for treasures :)

Be warned if you are hung over do not walk in the building. The floors are a little off and it will mess with your equlibrium. I almost stumbled several times. Not good when every room is packed to the brimb with priceless antiques.
They had a wide selection of nice antiques, we where able to find some pot holders that we were looking for. I used to go antiqueing all the time with my grandma. Every now and then I Like to relive my youth.

I was kind of surprised at the first review… I’ve been here several times now and eventually I did see the woman described… but she didn’t give me a cold shoulder. Most of the ladies I’ve met have been very engaging.
The whole place is tightly packed… not necessarily with the best antiques or collectibles but some interesting finds are there. I do think they still have a summer ‘sidewalk’ sale. Overall, the prices are moderate to good compared to some other locations. They have been good about suggesting other antique stores in the area if you don’t see what you are looking for.
This isn’t the place you would probably head to if you were needing something specific, but if you like to browse, stop by…

Don’t freak out from claustrophobia before you get the cold shoulder from the woman with the beehivish doo.
There are some good deals here occasionally, if you don’t weigh over 35lbs — the place is about to fall apart and is for sale I noticed for redevelopment so go soon before they are gone.
I did once get a very good deal on a california pottery piece here during their sidewalk flea market, which I don’t think they hold anymore. They have some great garden pieces, the far back room on the right — full of new items and repros — just be aware, there are a few true pieces.
