Postcard Inn on the Beach

We took a family trip for the weekend, really nice place, somewhat old but nice, great food, great value, will stay again.

Bugs and overcharging.
I am currently staying at Post Card Inn. I just checked my credit card balance and they have over charged me $ 468 for a two night stay (for most basic room they offer). Our room faces the parking lot. At check in it was $ 145/​night. There’s an additional $ 178 in hidden fees.
The walls are paper thin. Guests are loud. The electrical plugs fall out of the outlets and do not work. The bed is not comfortable (hence the review at 4:30 AM). There is a large gap in the door and bugs are crawling on us in bed.
We are on our honeymoon. I am so disappointed in this hotel.

Found PCI on recommendation of family. Booked last minute and got the last poolside room before the beach. It was incredible! Stayed with my husband and son, and had a wonderful family weekend. PCI was family friendly with a kiddie pool that was comfortable enough for us to relax in while he was playing. The beach had chairs and umbrellas available. The snack shack made lunch on site a breeze. Love the atmosphere — definitely a great place to stay that isn your typical experience. Will return!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. We split our week between the Beachcomber and the PostCard Inn (PCI). Based on the outside PCI is not cute by any means. However, the rooms are 100% updated and the decorations are super cute. I was very unsure based on the outside but was pleasantly surprised when we opened the door. The center of the hotel (outside) is super cute and they have plenty of updated pool space. We have heard there are lots of weddings and receptions that take place here and with the string lights and benches I can see why. There is an outside bar – its not the best – I recommend going next door to Jimmy B’s. The beach is super nice and there are chair rentals available. Overall, I would recommend.

Clean. Cute. Fun. This spot in St Pete Beach was the perfect place to spend a weekend with my girlfriends. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the vibe was relaxing and fun. Great staff too. We will definitely be back!

A decent stay – I almost regretted my reservations after reading reviews AFTER I booked. If you are not a flexible person you can let some of the stuff «get to you».
DEAL MAKERS: great lobby, friendly staff, infused ice water in lobby & pool area, close to places to eat, great beach area with comfortable lounges (for rent), clean updated rooms, new towels, nice pool, allow pets, smoking areas and others NOT, fun outdoor seating, ping pong, billiards, fire pit, volleyball, outdoor bar, nice restaurant on site, guaranteed parking if you stay there, 2 indoor gyms (treadmills, etc) Decent hotel when NOT spring breaker-​filled, security onsite is friendly.
DEAL BREAKERS: poor wifi throughout, thin walls (and rude loud guests), music piped outside is loud and constant til 9 pm, fake grass in garden area, inconsiderate rule breakers in the pools with no monitoring (sposed to wear wristbands, many don’t), heated pool «in season» (May was not heated and freezing barely 80), pool towels hard to come by, Their basic rate doesn’t include $ 20 resort fee and $ 20 tax per night per room. They don’t give you shampoo, etc each day you’re there, you get it once. $ 5 credit ONE night in the restaurant (they forgot to give us our coupon), bottled water on first night not every night in room, housekeeping comes late in afternoon (4:00 check-​in if you are lucky)

The Postcard Inn strives for quality in some places and misses the mark in others. The Inn highlights their location with playful beach vintage décor and beachfront access, yes please! But their customer service is a bit of a catastrophe.
I came here to celebrate my gfs new job and so I tried to stay positive for her. But perhaps my expectations were too high. I found black long hairs in my bathroom sink and on my bed, unfortunately the staff nor the supposed Housekeeping Manager could be bothered with caring.
I asked if the room had been cleaned prior to our visit, even told the concierge that if it hadn’t I could easily kill some time with my lady at the beach.
Instead the Housekeeping Manager showed up, I greeted her and asked her how her day was. She just responded with «do you have a problem?» Took a look and said the hairs were not there earlier. I looked at my gf who has red hair and myself being bald and told her they obviously didn’t come from us. Not one apology, she didn’t even care she literally just brushed the hairs on the floor and left. No manager follow-​up. Huge fail on their part and perhaps the funniest hotel hair situation to date.

I decided to stay here with friends one Saturday night after participating in Sports Fest on ST Pete beach. I live in the area but I figured this would be a better and more fun idea. WRONG. I arrived Saturday morning around 8am to park my car before check out, they gave me a pass and told me to go into the sketchy side lot and park behind the dumpsters.
I got a text at 9am saying my room would be ready by 12pm. I arrive at 2 pm with all of my bags and the front desk informs me that my room would not be ready until 4pm. Also, she told me that they over booked our garden king room (which I found out is not a garden, it’s fake grass) and that we would not be getting what I reserved, instead we would be getting a view of the parking lot. The compensation I received was a couple free drink passes and free breakfast… Not comparable.
When we were leaving our room that night to go to dinner we noticed people were sitting on my friends truck bed clearly drunk and disturbing our personal property; we went to the front desk to ask if security could do anythin about it and the front desk told us it was not their responsibility.
To top things off, we slept horribly because it sounded like elephants were staying in the room above us because the rooms and walls are paper thin. Also, the rooms air conditioning is controlled by the hotel. Oh and if you need a bathroom with space, this is not the motel, yes motel not hotel, for you. Only one person can fit in the bathroom at a time and the door was blocking the shower entrance so you had to close it to enter it safely.
Check out was at noon so we paid 370 dollars for a miserable time (not even a full 24 hours). Never coming back.

We were excited when friends booked their wedding here. We booked our «garden view king» in Oct. for the event in April. In March we decided to add a night. This was when the oddities began. I rang the hotel directly like before & asked to extend our 1 night stay by 1 night. They stated they could not add a day but could give me another separate reservation for the following night. Upon arrival there was confusion because of this. Was told I had to check out before 9 then check back in so we could keep our room! Strike one.
Went to our «Garden room king» & immediately realized «garden» also means «parking lot». We discovered they define «remodeled» as a photo stuck on wallpaper, surfboard screwed to the wall, paint, and a flat screen. Other than that the room retains its previous «seedy motel» feel — gap between the door and wall included. Strike two.
We met with friends who had a «garden view» (the astro turf lawn between the lobby and pool). Rooms were exactly the same. While touted as an «inn» this spot has 198 rooms — no cozy inn feel at all. It is a MOTEL. The connecting hallways and stairways had apparently not been washed since Kennedy was in office — the president not the senator. No beach front rooms, no windows that open, and AC CONTROLLED BY THE MOTEL. WiFi is inconsistent. Strike three.
The bed was pretty comfortable. The shower was OK, if you are under 5’4″. One person in the bathroom at a time so you wet your toothbrush, apply paste, and step out to allow your traveling partner to do the same. You can listen to your neighbor’s conversations through vents while you brush your teeth, so there’s that. Strike four — this is not about baseball.
The beach bar was great. They did a lovely set up for the wedding.
The next morning, following the ridiculous check out/​check in, we decided to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant adjacent to the lobby. First, the lobby is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Clearly, this is where they spent all their money, planning, and time in the remodel. Back to the restaurant.
Our food took about 20 minutes, I refilled our coffee at the lobby coffee service since we couldn’t find anyone else to do so. The food was, to say the best, horrid. Two folks who, let’s say partook of frivolity found the breakfast horrid. That’s saying something. Strike five.
Brian at the beach cabana hut brought us a cabana and chairs and then set up a sort of «camp» for at least half a dozen other friends who also stayed. He was an absolute delight and an excellent host. He should run the entire spot.
We have stayed at the Trade Winds Island Grand a few times and also at the Howard Johnson’s. For the same, or less, money stay at the HoJo 2 doors, and about 50 yards, south. Request a 4^th or 5^th floor beach front. you’ll get a room with at least a fridge — some with a kitchenette — and windows that open that are actually a great balcony you can sit on and experience the beach. After all, isn’t that why you came?
I’m sad to recommend you skip the PostCard Inn with the exception of their beach bar and beach cabanas. Ask for Brian.

Skanky women, rip-​shit drunk guys trying to hit on the girl sitting on your lap, almost 5 bucks for a small warm draft domestic, skanky women in tight bikinis (most of which truly have no business in a bikini) two piece band is pretty good, old geezers taking it all in (maybe I’m close to being one) skanky women playing volleyball or kicking a volleyball back and forth, obnoxious drunken men hitting on your girl («you better sit closer to me boy!» «Nah he was harmless and even though he was wasted he was a gentleman, you’re fine») women ignoring the drunken men hitting on them but grinding on each other to the music, wow some truly hot young redhead with this straw hat hanging down holy cow look at those two college girls over there «hey let’s have one more honey OK?»!!!
Yes great place!!!

The Good:
1. Recently renovated with a spacious, cool, engaging lobby, restaurant, and welcoming landscape, particularly in the evening.
2. Convenient location and close to a number of good restaurants, bars, and convenience stores nearby.
The Less-​Than-​Stellar:
1. The rooms are clean and functional, but are meant for people who want to spend all their time at the beach, with minimal time in the room.
2. There are no fridges, so bring your own cooler and fill it daily with ice, OR just eat out all the time.
3. They are lacking in the way of basic amenities. Our room came with three pillows, and when we asked for another one, were told that they were out of pillows. How is this possible? I have been to hostels that had extra pillows.
4. Our TV remote didn’t work and we asked the front desk to send a new one, but they never did. We then got a new remote and it STILL didn’t work.
5. Even though the hotel had guaranteed parking for residents, the parking situation turned into a bit of a cluster f*** on weekends with so many people trying to park in the lot, or get close to the beach, thus blocking in actual guests.
6. The beachside bar is on the expensive side. Try the Agave restaurant down the street, or Rum Runners off of the beach. Better options.

The Post Card Inn is a rustic chic renovated hotel that attracts people from all over the country and local Floridians alike. I have even seen it featured as THE place to stay on St. Pete Beach on the Today show (in recent years).
The main hotel lobby décor is pretty cool and is nicely decorated with cool artwork. There is a restaurant here but in the times I’ve been or ordered from here the food was less than stellar. A short walk and you are at the pool and beyond that is the beach bar, beyond that is the sand and volleyball courts with huge chairs to sit in. I have never personally stayed here but I have visited when it was a friend of a friend’s birthday (and they were) and although the rooms are older, they have been renovated but in my opinion they weren’t anything special. What you’re getting when you stay here here is the ambiance and convenience to the beach and the pool which is situated in the middle of the hotel with the rooms surrounding it.
I used to go to PCI beach bar at least once a month whenever I was at the beach with my friends. Most recently and in part to the liquor ordinance banning consumption of beverages on St. Pete Beach, I feel that the vibe has changed. You are no longer permitted to bring the drinks that you order from the bar on the beach and there is normally a security «guard» to enforce these rules that are clearly stated on signage in the sand.
Still, it is a great spot to grab a drink and some grub if you are looking for a bite to eat after being famished by beach activities. The bartenders at the outdoor bar are stellar and friendly and work efficiently to get orders out when it is busy. Sebastian was a mainstay at the outdoor bar and he always takes good care of me when I visit. The outdoor food menu boasts some sandwiches and not much else what I can remember. There also is a «snack shack» that used to serve up food, albeit it quite slowwwly however on my most recent visit it wasn’t open.
The beach bar has live music entertainment on the wooden patio deck the weekends and the band is usually pretty good. I enjoy listening to the live music and people watching if I’m there on a weekend. All in all, a cool place to hang out and meet up and go out with friends or make some new ones. :)
If you aren’t staying there, parking at the hotel can set you back at least ten and upwards of twenty dollars if you want to pro on premises. You have been forwarded!

We are locals who go to the restaurant. The restaurant has been renovated and we love the food here. The fish is always fresh. Coconut shrimp is excellent and not that prepackaged garbage a lot of hotels serve. Prices are typical for the location. The best part is we NEVER have to wait for a table. We went in the middle of Spring Break last night and the place was empty. Probably because of the charge for parking, but tell them you are going to eat dinner and they don’t charge for parking.

Renovations are compete and the hotel is simply adorable! Think Ikea meets surfer beach bum chic. Weathered wood and nautical touches really make the Postcard Inn a special place. The pool is beautiful and brand new. A tiki hut features live entertainment, and the beachside bar is the perfect place to hang out.
Rooms are very cute. They feature tile floors, new beds and bathrooms, and that Ikea look that I mentioned earlier. I really liked the clean, wide open look. It makes the room feel more like an apartment than a hotel room.
Definitely check it out. It’s going to be the place to be in the summer!

Had a reunion with a group from the USAF 42 years ago. Hotel had plenty of room in lobby for all of us to hang out and chat. As indicated in previous reviews, there is renovation going on. It is a minor distraction but nothing major. The interior grounds and pool area is very nice. Reminded my wife and me of resorts in the Caribbean island.
We had breakfast on our last morning in the restaurant. Wow! Others in our group had eaten there before for breakfast and warned us about the large portions. I got the steel cut oatmeal; it came with golden raisins, honey and brown sugar. My wife got an English muffin – it was not even on the menu but the waiter said «no problem». A couple in our group did not want the large omelet for each of them and decided to share an order. Rather then bringing out the omelet on one plate with a separate plate the staff had split the order between two plates, one for each of them.
The wait staff was the best. Super friendly, attentive and willing to go out of their way to make us happy. I wish we had eaten there for some of our dinners. Highly recommend.
Note: there is a hotel fee above the hotel room rate. We had to pay an additional $ 20 per night for Wi-​Fi, parking, coffee in the morning, etc.

I have enjoyed this hotel a number of times. It’s a great spot for the price if you enjoy shabby chic. It is under renovations with major improvements this month, February 2016. It will be much better for others to enjoy in late spring and summer.

This hotel is Under major construction which they didn’t have the curtesy to tell us ahead of time. I booked this hotel for two nights, one night we had no electricity the whole day. They did not offer a discount or any kind of condolence. The room was terribly hot from the air being shut off all day. We were woken up at 5:30 am with construction workers yelling. The construction workers trapped us in with tape on all entrances of the stairs so we had to crawl under the tape with our luggage when we were leaving. The beds are terribly uncomfortable.

Cute place. Cute room. Cute people. Stayed for three nights in late September in a Garden room king.
Pros:
–firepit
–nice pool area
–super easy beach access
–room was tastefully decorated (loved the tile that looked like plywood)
–free bottles of water in your room
–nice shady spots to hang out in
–music playing throughout the property
–beautiful lobby where you can hang out and play board games
–got a deal using living social
Cons:
–Hung the «do not disturb» sign on the door, they came in and cleaned anyways.
–PAPER THIN walls!
–only three pillows on a king bed (if you figure two people are probably sleeping on the bed, there should be 4)
–consistently out of beach towels during our stay
–the music throughout the property is not the same, you can stand in several spots on property (and from your room) and hear at least two different kinds of music overlapping, which got super annoying. Pick one music feed!
–when I booked, the lady had no clue what the living social deal was about, and when I checked out, they tried to charge me full price. The front desk was helpful, though, and got it cleared up.
Overall, it served its purpose and was RIGHT on the beach. Everyone was nice and helpful. We’ll most likely be back!

Had a great stay here a couple months back. Really no complaints here. The room was clean, nicely decorated and direct access to the beach. The lobby is spacious and has plenty of activities for the hotel guests– board games, photo booth to bike rentals. The staff are very nice and accommodating.
You can’t beat having a pool, direct access to the beach, a tiki bar where you can do room charge and a snack shack for what they charge per night. Awesome deal. I felt safe and at night they light up the twinkle lights and turn on the fire. There is a resort fee but that includes parking and wifi.
It’s wonderful place to stay and would def stay again!

Stayed here this past weekend for a good friend’s Bachelorette party. It was a great setting for the festivities planned. sitting poolside, going to the beach, and checking out the bars located right in the property.
The hotel is older with a retro beach flair. Awesome looking lobby, a computer and printer for guest use, and what looked like a dining area… through the lobby are the rooms and a cute outdoor area. There are trees with lights on them that look so nice in the evening… a ping pong table, plenty of seating areas to hang out.
Just past the rooms and walkway is the pool area. Towels are available and the staff was great about waking around and offering guests samples of different flavors of smoothies and cold water. Then just behind the pool are the snack bar, a bar with live music/​drinks, and the beach.
The room was nice with the retro décor continuing throughout. The bathroom was tiny though and the hotel only left a set of towels for 2ppl when we had 4 staying in it. The walls were thin and we heard all of the plumbing from the hotel it seemed. It was very loud. We could also hear everyone outside our door and on the 2^nd level above us.
I would have to say that it was definitely a hang out spot for a younger crowd. Overall we had a good time here.

Das Hotel ist am Gulf Blvd. gelegen inmitten einer langen Kette von Hotels, Resorts und Restaurants, die sich am Golf von Mexico entlang erstreckt.
Im Gegensatz zu den umliegenden Gebäuden ist das Postcard Inn ein flacher (2 Geschosse), langgestreckter Bau typisch amerikanischer Art. Aussen wird geparkt, innen sind Pool, Grill und Freizeiteinrichtungen. Alle Zimmer sind direkt von außen zugänglich.
Die Einrichtung der Zimmer ist funktional und doch ganz hübsch, mit Surf-​Utensilien und –fotos dekoriert. Es gibt Flat-​TV, Safe und Kühlschrank. Das Grundstück ist rundum Kamera-​überwacht. Das Badezimmer dürfte einen Quadratmeter mehr haben.
Schade ist, dass die Zimmer doch recht hellhörig sind und sich die Klimaanlage trotz vorhandenem Thermostat nicht regeln läßt — laut Auskunft der Rezeption ist dieser abgeklemmt und die Zimmertemperatur zentral auf 65 Grad Fahrenheit, also ca. 18 Grad Celsius voreingestellt. Ziemlich kühl, wenn man sich länger im Zimmer aufhält. Man hat uns ein Heizgerät angeboten, aber unser grünes Gewissen hat das nicht zugelassen.
Der Strand ist schön, sauber und weitläufig. Das Wasser bleibt ca. 30 Meter weit relativ seicht und ist augenscheinlich recht sauber. Leider bietet der Strand keinerlei natürlichen Sonnenschutz. Man kann jedoch für 6 USD pro Stunde oder max. 20 USD pro Tag eine «Beach Lodge» mieten — zwei Holzliegen mit je einer Matte darauf und einem verstellbaren Baldachin.
Frühstücken kann man am Pool, aber das Angebot hat uns nicht überzeugt. Wir haben «Beverley’s» Frühstücksrestaurant bevorzugt — ca. 1,5 Meilen den Gulf Blvd. nach Norden auf der rechten Straßenseite.
