History

Established in 2003.

The success of The Little Gym programs are a direct reflection of founder Robin Wes’ pioneering spirit and genuine love for children. Robin opened the first The Little Gym in 1976; his concept was revolutionary. He created a program that would not only help children develop physically, but also intellectually, emotionally and socially. Robin’s program was strictly non-​competitive, focusing on creating fun, positive experiences. The idea was to give children the confidence they needed for a lifetime of success.

Today’s curriculum, still based on our founding mission, continues to be refined through the collective wisdom of the entire The Little Gym® family. By integrating our 3-​Dimensional Leaning concept into our Learning Unit based lesson plans we are able to truly help children stimulate their social and emotional skills all while growing their physical skills. Angela Dowdy had been a customer of The Little Gym with her own children for years before purchasing the franchise from Mary Lee and Mark Stephens. The Little Gym was the perfect fit for Angela. She had experienced first-​hand how well the program worked with her kids and was in a position to launch a new career endeavor.
