J. Con Salon & Spa

The people are very nice but they do what they want not what the client wants. Husband had a bad haircut, daughter had an ordinary blowout. My color is way too dark even with all the discussion beforehand and my blowout is so flat it looks oily. They are single dimensional. I’m used to big city talent but was in town for an event and told this was high end. No edge to their work. I didn’t mind the prices.

Lauren is awesome, she does a great job with my color, cuts and has recommended several products several products I can no longer live without (Dry Remedy oil and Color Conserve shampoo/​conditioner). My hair looks and feels healthy, and styling is so easy!

Kind of shocked at some of the reviews on here! I have been a customer at j con for almost 10 years (on and off for several and now consistently for 3 years). I have never once had a less than wonderful experience there. Heather O does my hair and she is wonderful! She has done multiple styles, cuts and colors on my hair and I have been happy with them all. My husband even goes to her. The price is high if you choose to go to a master stylist… obviously…but J con has several levels of stylists and I have been to each level with no complaint. Have recommended and continue to recommend friends to come here!

Like any high name Salon, a bit pricey. I assume you get what you pay for which I was happy. I hear positive and negative comments here on the review page. I heard Danielle was a nice sweet lady on this page. I got lucky to get her because I wanted my appointment asap because I wanted to wash my hair =D. I heard a friend’s complaint that the salon was to rough for her hair and price. But once I got there, I mention to Danielle about my friends review on rough hair treatment. I had very Specific direction and she was right on Target of following it because I have thin fragile hair and my hair falls out easily. Meds. But she was kind and didnt try to sell me any products like other complaints here. So I would recommend Danielle. Hair style came out well. I would return to her.

Danielle did a great job! She was quick and understood exactly what I wanted. The salon was spacious and clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating (I was a little late). Overall, I really liked this salon and will definitely return! In fact, I’ve already booked my next appointment :)

This is the worst hair place ever, everyone tells you how long they worked with hair but yet no one is confident in coloring your hair cuz they arent sure how it will turn out. I have curly long hair, youd think someone in that establishment would know how to deal with it??? walked in with dark roots, walked out an hour later with the same dark roots. So messed up how they wasted my time and Saturday.

This is a very nice salon. This is my second time here and I got my hair done by Haley. She is very sweet and professional and does a great job. I have no complaints. When I read some of the other Unilocal reviews I decided that those people must of been having a bad day because the staff at J con is very professional and friendly and they get you in and out in a timely manor. My hair looks amazing and I will definitely be back to see Haley again!

Janet is the best for color in the area. I have been seeing her for almost ten years. She is great with blondes and takes into consideration your skin tone and new trends. I made HUGE mistake a few weeks back and decided to let my friend’s hair dresser that works at a very nice nearby salon color my hair. However she ruined my hair in an attempt to ombré. It was absolutely horrifying. I ran crying to Janet, and she was able to fix my hair, and make my hair look almost as it had before. Janet is a lifesaver and she truly knows what she is doing! Make sure to make an appointment in advance, and she only works Monday through Wednesday. Janet also only does color, it is her speciality, so if you need a cut after I would recommend Jen, Jacquelyn, or Tiffany Lynn.

Went here for the first time today for a haircut. Patty did a very good job, she was very helpful and made sure we were on the same page before she started cutting.

I have only had one bad experience at this salon and that was with someone I had never seen before… I Love oley and Wish she was in Sarasota… I never left looking bad when she did my Hair… so many compliments on my Hair.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a salon. Had an appt with JUNE. Ran into an accident on the way making me 15 minutes late. June and receptionist cancelled my appt as I stood in the waiting area after driving 30 minutes to get there. Mind you, this was the first time leaving my one month old baby at home with my husband… To get my much needed and much looked forward to haircut. I was so upset leaving this place that I called my husband and cried. I will never return. I have never been treated so rudely.

This place is such a rip off. Or maybe my standards are too high for a 55.00 pedicure. I’m sorry but if I’m paying that much for a pedi I expect more than a 10min massage for both feet. I also expect to not still have dirt on my feet and cuticles still showing around my toe nails. And lastly it should last more than 45 min. If I wanted that kind of service I would have chosen a cheap, unclean, fumey, Vietnamese nail salon.

The smell of Aveda products always makes me happy. I love the clean, fresh smell of their items. It’s such a clean smell and when you walk into J Con, it’s no exception.
This salon is massive. It use to be a picadilly cafeteria back in the day. You’d never know it when you walk in though. It’s been completely transformed.
I can not attest for their hair services, but I have been seeing andrea for a couple of visits now for my eyebrows. She’s good, doesn’t take too much off and has given my brows a good shape to grow into.

I’m surprised at some of the reviews, my experience has been nothing like the reviews I just read. I have been going to Jcon for about 8 years or more. I have been going to the same stylist but once or twice I have had someone else do my hair because Tim wasn’t available. I have also had pedicures there.
Tim does a great job with coloring and cutting my hair. Once in awhile I don’t care for my cut because it might be a little too short but that has happened 2 times in 8 years. That’s not any fault of Tim’s because I don’t usually go in with specific things I want him to do and I change my hair style a lot or tell TIM to cut in whatever way he thinks it will look good and then we discuss it. I get compliments about my hair and have had people ask me where I get it cut.
Everyone has always been friendly and no one pushes products. Tim will ask if I need anything but that’s about it.
Are the prices a little high yes but it is also a high end salon and they have different stylist that charge different prices. If you don’t want to spend $ 70 or $ 80 pick a different stylist.

I really don’t understand the hype of this place.
The price is just insane. $ 80 for a HAIRCUT?!?
Seriously? No color, highlights, just a wash and color.
I’ve asked in mom groups «where do you get your hair done?» And some said J. Con
I will never ever ever go back.
They were very kind to my child, but my haircut was OK, nothing to rave about.
The price was ridiculous.
I will never go back there.

So, the religion thing is kind of creepy and a bit overkill… As an atheist I don’t care for it but my stylist doesn’t push it on me. I didn’t even realize the religion thing until about a year ago and my family has been going here the last 15+ years.
That being said, I love my stylist, Anne. My mom sees her every month. I see her a few times a year for a cut and blow out. I’m telling you she is a magician with those scissors — I have a super round face and she can make short hair WORK on me. I can’t afford color here as a graduate student, but I’ve gotten my color done here in the past (also by Anne) and have always been incredibly pleased.
I will be coming here for Anne to do my hair for my wedding. I’m super excited!

I’m shocked to see some of the poor reviews posted here because those peoples’ experiences have been FAR different than mine. I’ve been going to J. Con for the past 10 years and have always had top-​notch service. I highly recommend their hair senior and master stylists (I’ve used Rebeca and Cam) as well as their facialist/​waxing extraordinaire, Kyle. I’m always greeted warmly, offered a beverage and treated to a relaxing scalp massage during my shampoo. The products are marked up a bit, but I’ve never been pressured to buy. The front desk staff is much more professional now than in years passed, and I find everyone to be kind and helpful.
I have only ever gone to Aveda salons, and although I have tried several others in the Tampa Bay area, I find J. Con to be the most professional, friendly and clean. I now live in Citrus Park, but have no problem making the drive to St. Pete for this great of an experience.

After reading everyone’s reviews, I’m honestly shocked at their experiences.
I’ve been coming here since I moved to St Pete a little over 2 years ago. I have regular appointments every 6 to 8 weeks. Walked in platinum blonde, telling her I wanted to get to dark red (I’m always changing my mind on my hair). She did an amazing job transitioning from the platinum, to lowlights with red, to full red.
I trust my stylist completely and actually come in sometimes asking her what she would suggest color wise when I feel like I want something new. At the end you’ll be asked if you need any new product because that is part of their job. But I have never had the product pushed on me more than just the regular ask, which I appreciate.
Yes, this place is going to be expensive. But it’s a salon. It would be ridiculous to think this place is going to cost the same as Great Clips just by looking at the building. Especially if you have to make a reservation a month in advance.
All-​in-​all I say give it a chance. Come prepared with a picture because that helps a lot.

I’ve been this place twice, for a haircut… with a third planned for next week.
Admittedly, the price ($ 30) for man’s haircut is high for the area, I’ve definitely paid far more in other cities, and received less. So, considering the overall experience (which includes a healthy dose of eye candy), I think it is worth it.
While the counter staff may be a bit aloof, I get the impression that this is planned; perhaps part of what is expected for the overall vibe that they are going for, or maybe it’s just me.
To date, I’ve not had any difficulty getting an appointment to fit my schedule.
Steve Atkins gives a great cut… delivering to the needs that I expressed, without the need to restate on subsequent visit.
While I have not used any of their Spa services, a friend of mine has — quite pleased with the mani-​pedi.
