Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

The Oregon native joined the Marines days after graduating from high school in 2004. He chose to be an infantryman (0351) and was stationed in Hawaii, where he started moonlighting in nightclub security. Brown deployed to Afghanistan from July05 to February06 and Iraq from September06 to May07. When asked why he joined he responded:

«I didn’t want to have to consider the thought, later in life, that someone was out there fighting for me and my rights, and my family, when I had the opportunity to stand up myself.»

On Jan 23, 2007, Brown was supervising an Iraqi police checkpoint in Haditha when a utility truck driven by a 13-y.o. boy exploded in a suicide attack. Brown suffered a brain injury but was back on the job within 36 hours and finished his tour, earning praise from his superiors. Because of that injury, Brown was told he could serve out the remainder of his military contract but would not be allowed to re-​enlist. He started Accolade to provide a future for his young family.
