Situated in the heart of Stamford The 9th Note provides a comfortable New York style(without the cost) Jazz experience. Front chairs and reserved tables give an unobstructed view of the performers. The handsome bar area also provides a clear view as well. The place — with it’s sixties style lounge ambience — blends well with the music being played here. With open windows behind the band you’ll feel the cool summer night breeze flow into the club while the smooth jazz music flows out. Outside as people pass this club they dance and look in at the night’s entertainment. Confusingly not many enter… Which is a shame. This Friday night Joe Farnsworth(Drums) Eric Alexander(Saxophone) Nat Reeves(Bass) Victor Gould(Piano) played two sets totaling three(3) hours — including intermission. At a $ 20 cover this was a musical steal. Yet it appeared a high percent of the small audience were musicians themselves playing later at a «midnight jam». Hopefully this will change as The 9th Note deserves to succeed. Add’l Notes: 1-Food: We shared two starters. The Crab Cakes(poor) and The Calamari(just awful). You may want to eat elsewhere then join the musical festivities here. 2-Service: Friendly but occasionally indifferent as we were forgotten a bit. Waiter once attempted to clear an unfinished glass of beer. That’s certainly a no-no…

Cool place! Excellent food and drinks! Very friendly and welcoming staff. Live jazz music was needed in Stamford. Chris, the owner, has transformed the old G/R/A/N/D into a more chill and relaxed venue.

Been here twice in the past week, and am thrilled to have a place to hear some good, live music right in Stamford. First time was for the early cocktail hour with amazing live guitar solo as the backdrop, then Friday with some friends to see an old friend with Jay Prince & Friends… Sarah at the bar took great care of us, music was really good… all in all just a great way to end the week. Will for sure be back again soon!

The Live Jazz is amazing and fantastic. It’s such a great experience to spend one night here, leisurely enjoy the music and cocktail. The drink is very unique and the taste is boutique. Strongly recommended

Fantastic. We stumbled in on a rainy night. Poutine is amazing. Competes with best of Montréal. We tried several dishes including the pasta with pesto and goat cheese and shrimp gumbo. Both were a hit. Music was nice. Several acts performed. We will be back. Great find.

Not too impressed here, but glad to have a jazz club, so I’ll go easy– high prices for drinks and short pours on wines. Very limited menu and frankly don’t understand the food choices at all — $ 15 for the worst pulled pork sandwich of my life — all bread, very little pork, and a ton of fries, which were very good, but wanted a great sandwich, not just great fries. Salad was very good. Next choice would be entrees at $ 26 to $ 32??? How about offering a burger and a few other sandwiches in the $ 9 to $ 12 range? Staff is very friendly, but a bit pushy on bar drinks. Acoustics were not very good, place seems like it needs a complete makeover– don’t know what was there prior — but cosmetically very old and tired looking — from what can be seen– place kept very dark for obvious reasons — but somewhat passable as just a jazz club, NOT as a JAZZ Supper Club as advertised. Street parking in this part of Stamford is a bear and I do not trust the security of the parking garage. Hope to see improvements and want to see them succeed — these are constructive comments — try the place and help out as well if you like live jazz as I do.
