Park Avenue

This place has a very oldfashion feel, from the décor, to the service, to the food taste. This place is very pricey, up there with other local steakhouses like Ruths, the Ranch, Mortons, yet I wouldnt classify them in the same category. I had the filet mignon with the twice baked potato, and my husband had the pork shank. To start I had the cesar sald. Drinks were pricey 15 bucks each, Steak over $ 40 bucks. This place does have some charm to it because its very old fashion, but I would not return because for the same price I prefer the newer places like Ruths, Mortons, Flemmings etc… Also the service here was not up to par like the others.

We found this steakhouse on Unilocal and went to try it out. We did not have reservations so we were not able to sit in the main dining room which looked great. But they were very accommodating and satus in the bar. Our server was excellent. And the food was incredible. One of the best days I’ve had in years. I highly recommend this place but make sure you have a reservation

Went here on Sunday the 3^rd of January and had the Sunday fried chicken. YUMMMM!
The food, the staff, the ambiance could not have been better. Park Avenue knocks it out of the Park!

Park Ave has always been a restaurant I’d pass by every so often & was very deceived by the surrounding areas. I was not expecting this upscale restaurant in Stanton, that literally blew me my mind. It’s like they say don’t judge a book by its cover & this establishment is no different.
I visited here on a random rainy weeknight & did not expect the décor & elegance the restaurant had once stepping through the entrance. Very modern classic upscale restaurant décor with a bar. The service was prompt, not overbearing but adaquete overall. Our server explained to us the daily specials right off the bat & was able to suggest a few items for us off the menu. However I was kinda shocked that they never mentioned their own garden in the back of the restaurant (Thank you Unilocalers, you would kinda think that would be a good selling point) Anyways, you start off with bread & this delicious cinnamon butter, if you’re not a fan just ask for regular butter they do have it. For my Entrée I ordered the filet mignon, which came with green beans & your choice of potato (I ordered the servers suggestion of Twice Baked which was whatever, kinda dry in my opinion). I couldn’t help myself when I saw that they had a homemade cobbler which I’m a complete sucker for, mind you its accompanied with a homemade vanilla bourbon ice cream, I couldn’t say no & was smart not too! I personally have to say the dessert was the highlight for me, I wish the food overall blew me more away especially for what the bill totaled out too.
I’m overall kinda torn on my experience only due to the fact that it wasn’t mind-​blowingly outstanding however it wasn’t bad either. I feel like for the area it’s a cute local fine dining establishment that’s rare, however I feel like there is much better if you travel down to Huntington Beach/​Seal Beach area in my opinion.

Best of OC ~ A True Hidden Gem! There is nothing better than enjoying a meal at a restaurant where you know that most of the ingredients have been grown in their own private garden — that is true at Park Ave. The restaurant is one that families should visit for a special occasion or celebration, and won’t be disappointed at all. Everything was made fresh — right down to the butter that was infused with apricots from their garden. And. the kid’s meals — all I can say is WOW! My daughter ordered the grilled chicken kid’s meal that came with a generous serving of grilled chicken and veggies that she devoured. If you haven’t been here yet — then you’re missing out.

It’s been almost 9 years since my last visit. I think if my friend hadn’t invited me here for lunch, I might never have made it here on my own — I’m glad she did.
As you can see, my previous experience (s) — one of which was not documented — was not ideal. In fact, they were enough for me to not return again until now.
On this particular trip, my experience was completely different. The service was attentive, the food was good, and it was like night and day.
We were here for lunch and ordered some beets from the garden, as well as the PAG crispy greens to start. Both were delicious. Our main courses were the chicken pot pie — really comforting — and the Slay Steak Sandwich. The steak was absolutely tasty and so flavorful — so different to my previous visits so many years ago.
We also tried two desserts including the olive oil chocolate cake and the s’mores parfait. Both were good.
I’m looking forward to returning again. Only wish it was a little closer.

Park Ave. is as good as it gets when it comes to nice restaurants in mid-​OC. The service and food is spot on and it never fails to disappoint me. I’ve been here several times and each time everything has been consistent.
Today I ordered the slow roasted pork shank and my it was delicious! It came with mashed potatoes made with horseradish and a side of carrots. The carrots were cooked to perfection and the horseradish mashed potatoes were quite interesting. I’ve never had anything like and while it was clean out your sinuses spicy, it was delicious. The pork shank just fell of the bone with great flavor and everything seemed very fresh.
The atmosphere of there restaurant was good perhaps a little on the darker side. Although I made reservations my friend was quite late to the dinner but as soon as she came they sat us immediately which was greatly appreciated because I was starving. The bread basked was warm and really good and we ordered the half dozen oysters to start with which was very fresh and good as well.
I look forward to coming back here and to many more delicious dinners in the future!

We had drinks at the Park Avenue bar before dinner last week and the drinks were great! The bar is dimly lit but inviting with plush booths and attentive staff. We ordered directly from the bartender and sat at one of the booths. One of the servers over by the hostess stopped by to ask if we needed menus for ordering but we informed her that we had ordered already. My friends received their drinks first while mine took a few more minutes. There was just one bartender making our drinks and we each ordered something different. When my drink came out it was at the bar for a few seconds before we noticed. We had to get up to grab it as there was no one to bring it to us. It wasn’t a big deal since we weren’t planning on sitting there the entire time anyway. My friend was gracious enough to buy the drink for me so I just enjoyed. Lovely bar, but their service could have been a little better since we were the only party in the bar.

I love this restaurant for the exceptional service and friendly staff. On our most recent visit we were served by Lauren, Oscar, and Liz culminating in a fabulous experience. Every visit to Park Ave and il Garage is true joy. Owner Dennis Slay even came out to shake out hands and thank us for our patronage. A small gesture like that goes a long way and I can’t wait to bring my friends and family back for our next special dinner!

I lived in the buena park/​anaheim area for 20+ years, drove by this restaurant a countless number of times, and never in a million years would have I guessed how beautiful and amazing this restaurant is! The restaurant is classy, elegant, and boasts a 5 star dining experience!
My friend brought me here for my birthday and I was blown away by the food and the service. The food is delicious and the presentation is equally admirable… they even grow their own veggies in their garden! I ordered the ribeye steak.. very pricey! But they are pretty generous with their portion size. While my friend and I were waiting for our food, we walked through their outside garden area which is just gorgeous! Nice green grass with lush trees decorated with lanterns… lovely!
We finished our dinner with peanut butter bread pudding topped with their homemade ice cream. OMG! So good! Unfortunately, their desserts are constantly changing so they may not have that when you do come but if they do, be sure to try it! I highly recommend this restaurant… great place for date night! It’s on the pricier side so have your wallet ready but it’ll be worth it!

For years I have been baffled with the thought that there was a fine dining establishment in Stanton, CA. STANTON. Yes, fine dining somehow exists here. But eventually we decided it was time to try it out.
We were doing a triple birthday celebration, so it was a three couple party. No issues with the reservation, so points there.
Parking is a bit of a mess. They apparently just started doing valet, so a portion of the parking lot is blocked off. It was a Friday night, so by the time we got there we had to park all the way back around behind the building in an area of abandoned buildings… yay.
Okay, so pros and cons (because that’s the lazy way to write reviews, and I am lazy).
Pros:
–Our waitress was friendly.
–Food tasted fine.
–Very good desserts, with a fairly extensive selection of them. Granted, a lot of them boil down to some sort of sundae, but all of them sounded delicious.
–It is fine dining in Stanton without feeling tacky or old. Well done.
–The entrees come with sides already, no need to order those separately.
Cons:
–Service took forever. We were there catching up with people, so it was easy not to notice the time flying by. But had we been there for a dinner for two, it would have been blatantly obvious. Long time for drinks. Long time for salads. Long time for food (hour plus after ordering). You know you’re in trouble when some of us at the table were seriously (jokingly) considering doing a quick McDonald’s run across the street to tide us over).
–Small portions. I know I praised the fact that the entrees all come with sides, but I should also note it isn’t a lot of them. It seems like some of the entrees are decently sized, so I guess just be wary when ordering. Seems a bit unfair that some people would pay the same price for substantially less food though.
–Not a good beer selection, in my opinion.
It’s not a BAD restaurant, but it’s not one I’d clamor back for.

I’ll start this review by noting that it has been a long time since I’ve been to Stanton, and finding a fine dining restaurant in the city is a very pleasant surprise. The exterior of the restaurant is late-60’s chic, and the interior carries that theme as well, complete with starburst lighting fixtures and lots of black & white celebrity photos.
The parking lot was packed when my group of 6 arrived, and although we had a reservation, we still had to wait 15 – 20 minutes until we were seated. As the hostess took us through the beautifully designed dining room, we were led to the back patio which is like a huge backyard, complete with paper lanterns hanging from the trees and a perfectly manicured lawn. We actually was waiters walking food down a lantern-​lit pathway to the back of the yard, so there must be a special private dining area in the back.
As we were seated & handed menus, we were told about the specials of the evening, and ordered some drinks from the bar. Then we waited… and waited… and waited. After a good 20 minutes, the drinks finally arrived, and we ordered our appetizers and meal. Then we waited… and waited… and waited. Finally, the appetizers arrived after about 30 minutes. The wedge salads were good sized and looked nice –basically ¼ head of lettuce with dressing, bleu cheese & bacon bits. The squash blossoms were a huge disappointment — basically 3 deep-​fried pieces of ricotta. I could barely tasted any squash. The portobello mushroom dish was just ok, nothing special.
For the entrees, the seared Jidori Chicken dish was way overcooked, and extremely dry. The scallop dish was just OK.
Overall I was disappointed with the speed of service, as well as the quality of the food. The meal came out to about $ 65 per person with gratuity, which a high price tag for the quality of the meal.

Tonight we celebrated my Uncle and Cousin’s birthday here. My Aunt and Uncle have been here a few times and they wanted to show it off to the family. They always find the best restaurants, I don’t know how, but they do. Me and a couple of my Aunts carpooled and arrived last because of traffic. On the outside this place looks like an oldies diner, but trust me when I tell you that it’s way better than that. Most of the inside is a bit dark, very intimate with the low lighting. We checked in at the front with our reservations and the maitre d’ took us to our table. My family was tucked way in the back of the restaurant, no one else was back there. We had our own big long table with a private room, very nice. I used the restroom before ordering anything. In the hall near the bathrooms the walls were filled with raving newspaper reviews. This place is top notch. The restroom was really cute and had bright pink shutter stall doors. Clean and adorable ladies restroom.
Once we got there we immediately ordered our drinks. I got a Shirley Temple which turned out really good, not too heavy on the grenadine, just right. My Cousin got ginger ale and they have multiple different flavors for them from watermelon to basil, which was really cool. I tried some bread that came fresh to the table. It was warm and smelled delicious. I tried the zucchini bread and plain rolls. The zucchini bread melted in my mouth and the roll was warm and slightly sweet. My Aunt asked our waitress, Rachel, what was in the butter. I didn’t even notice that there was something in it until my Aunt asked. The butter had a hint of apricot in it, which gave it a subtle sweetness. Next we ordered appetizers. I just had to try the squash blossoms so I ordered those. While waiting for our food my cousin and I went out to the vegetable garden. It was a nice warm and clear night. The garden was absolutely beautiful. I wish I could spend all night out there. They had a lot of stuff growing out there. I found tomatoes, micro greens, kale, basil and squash. There was probably way more than that. The garden was a whole lot bigger than I expected. You just have to check it out for yourself.
When we came back our appetizers had arrived. I tried the squash blossoms first. It was fried, stuffed with ricotta and served on top of a pesto sauce. It was crunchy, salty, sweet and rich all at the same time, so good. We also had fried greens and grilled avocado toast that my relatives had ordered. The greens cracked like glass in your mouth and were sprinkled with a nice touch of parmesan. An interesting salty treat. The grilled avocado was soft and creamy, spread it on grilled toast and it’s avocado bliss. These appetizers were truly amazing.
We ordered our entrees after apps were all done. I ended up getting the filet of sole with broccolini and au gratin potatoes. I was on the edge of getting ribeye, but I wanted something lighter and different. I didn’t get a soup or salad because I knew that would be more than enough food for me. My Aunts and Uncles around me all got salad and soups to start with and I did get to try some of theirs. The tomato soup was perfect, it’s what tomato soup should be. It was thick, kinda like a chunky purée and the flavor of all those tomatoes just exploded in your mouth. So much flavor in just a simple bowl of soup. I also tried the tomato salad which was topped with cheese (not sure what kind), basil, mint and some other little greens. Juicy plump tomatoes paired perfectly with the herbs. One of the best tomato salads I’ve ever had.
Not long after the soups and salads came the piece de resistance. My fish looked beautiful and I felt a bit hesitant in tasting it. With fish I normally get disappointed in one way or another and I didn’t want that to happen this time around. My first bite, it was heaven. The fish was light, flakey, yet moist. It had a perfect dusted coating of panko and almonds that brought a crunch to the soft and delicate fish. It was the sauce that really elevated it to the next level. It made the fish taste like butter. There was some lemon in the sauce, but just a small presence that didn’t make it sour or overpowering. It was one of the best fish dishes that I’ve had in a long time. It made me so happy. The broccolini was a bit stiff and could of been cooked a little longer, but boy did it taste delicious with that butter sauce. The potatoes were cut super thin and had a soft center of melty delicious cheese, really good. What a great meal.
Dessert rolled around and some family members ordered coffee. My Aunt brought a few cakes for the birthday peeps. The staff handled it all for us. They put the candles on, lit them and we all sang happy birthday. They took the cakes away, cut and served them. Outstanding service. This place was just amazing start to finish. I have no major complaints, everything was spot on, delicious and beautiful. A wonderful meal for a great celebration.

I have been wanting to come to Park Avenue for many years but for one reason or another we never made it over, be it the price, the location or just something else sounding better at the time. My mom wanted to treat us to an anniversary dinner for our 10 year wedding anniversary and after original plans were altered a bit Park Avenue won out.
I have driven past this place probably a 100 times and from the outside it doesn’t look like much but once the doors open it transforms into a beautifully elegant restaurant. The menu changes up a bit from time to time it seems and all of the herbs and veggies used in the dishes come straight from the garden out back which is nice. Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to walk through the garden as we could not find the entrance (may be through the restaurant and we had already walked out and didn’t feel like walking back in and looking like we were lost lol).
The menu here features several steaks, seafood and chop options. The prices are a bit high but I feel the quality of the meal overall was worth the price. My wife went with the jidori chicken which came with fingerling potatoes and green beans and it looked delicious and most importantly she seems to really enjoy it. I went with the peppered skirt steak (about 8 thin slices) which sits on top of a bed of cauliflower risotto which was very well good and tasted great. The steak was cooked to my liking and the flavors were really good and I would definitely order this again. My mom went with the 10oz ribeye and it seemed to be the worst prepared of the three entrees. The steak itself was a bit undercooked for her liking and she doesn’t like sending food back (it did take a bit longer than expected for the food to come out to begin with which holds them back from a 5 star rating) but the twice baked cheddar and chive potato looked good.
The service was good but not as great as a couple of other high end places we have been. It was nice to see both the manager and chef come to the table to check on us and make sure we had an enjoyable meal. Overall, I found the experience to be quite good and I definitely hope to come back again as well as trying out Il Garage which sits out back in the garden. Overall we spent about $ 135 bucks for three people (after tip) so it could have been worse. Please note that the cost for tea and soda here is a bit high. $ 4 for a ice tea in a small win style glass and $ 3 for an 8 oz coke in a bottle (not sure if you get refills on this or not but I would say no). I definitely recommend anyone who hasn’t been here to come down and try them out.

My review will strictly be on what I ordered:
Let me start by saying I’ve had quite a number of steaks in my life from true kobe, Wagyu, grass-​fed, you name it… but the NY Steak I had here was by the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. The NY Steak was cooked to perfection. Well-​seasoned and cooked to the best medium-​rare anyone could serve you. Tender, juicy, and had such strong beefy flavor. Not much fat on this cut, but still enough to kiss it with flavor. It was so good, I forgot about the sides…
Ribeye: Again, cooked to a perfect medium-​rare and seasoned right. This steak was much richer and sweeter than the NY due to the ratio of fat, however if you’re a ribeye all the way type of person, this will not disappoint.
Squash Blossom: Extremely light, floral, and flavorful. The batter on this was very thin and crispy. Not heavy at all and a great appetizer!
Chilled Beet Soup: Very straight forward beet soup. Sweet and savory. Great on a summer night. I could really taste the beets and their natural sweetness. The sour cream garnish gave it that nice acidity, making me want more!
OVERALL: If you want simple, but flavorful food that speaks for itself then this is the place you want to be. The food here is not masked by too many different flavors, which allows you appreciate the food you see on the plate. Service was top notch as well.
Like I always say, YOU WON’T KNOW UNLESS YOU TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!

First off, go here for the drinks, DON’T go for the food.
I was really surprised when a friend recommended this place and I show up to a restaurant off to the side of a mobile home park. It looked kinda retro and I thought well maybe there’s something to it. Since it was a tues evening it was an older crowd and several birthday parties mostly in the back room. My friends and I grabbed a drink at the bar while waiting for one more friend to show up. The bar is super kitschy and the drinks were good but when we asked to be seated for our reservation things turned sour.
Even though the place was essentially empty they sat us at a table in the middle by the kitchen instead of a private booth which should be given to those with a reservation. Our waiter was an older gentleman who was extremely pushy and arrogant. We ordered an appetizer while we waited and when our friend arrived we ordered our entrees. It took an excessively long time for the food to come out and once they did, I can only say my skirt steak was dismal at best. The fries were unseasoned and the steak was the most flavorless meat I’ve ever had.
After a less than satisfying meal I hoped the extensive dessert list would make up for it. We ordered the salted caramel ice cream, flourless chocolate cake, ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ sundae, and 2 scoops of their select ice creams. Everyone said the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ was the best, everything else was ok.
In the end I would say the service was obnoxious, the food was pretentious, and the restaurant was overrated in general. I would however come back and just have a drink and leave the dining to the old folks.

This is what I consider a hidden gem in the city of Stanton. The exterior of the building isn’t an eye-​catcher, but once you step inside, you will be surprised with the dim-​lit interior and classy/​romantic ambiance.
I highly recommend checking their website menu because there’s always good deals. I came here with my boyfriend’s family to celebrate Mother’s Day and it was during their promotion of Park Avenue’s 10^th birthday. So for $ 30 something, we were each able to order our own appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Pretty good deal and high quality food.
For appetizers, we ordered a vegetarian pot pie, which was decent. For the main entrée, I ordered their Filet Mignon which came with broccolini and mashed potatoes. They had cupcakes for dessert.
Overall, service is great. Great place for anniversaries, romantic dates, etc. There’s plenty of parking and reservations definitely help.

The décor is very rat pack era-​esque-​I live it! Classy and cool vibe here for sure. The service is consistently great and food is to die for. Its inventive, delicious and perfectly sized. Not too big, not too small. My girlfriend and I always come here for our birthdays and any other excuse we can think of. So minimum twice a year I am there and the food is always wonderful. Here’s what we always get:
–grilled avocado
–bacon and eggs (deviled eggs)
–beet salad
–a bottle of rose.
Try those and you won’t be disappointed!

I came here for dinner one night with a group of friends and can’t believe I haven’t discovered this cute little restaurant before!
What makes it special? The little sustainable garden they have tucked in the back, lines of tall shrubs that create the illusion of a secret garden for an after dinner stroll, perfectly-​cooked to order steak with herb butter (mid $ 30s), and decent selection of reasonably priced wine. The oysters and kale chips we had for starters were also delicious.
This is a great alternative for date night or a celebratory dinner if you’re looking for something new to try in the OC.

Took the boy out for a late birthday dinner here the other evening. I chose this place based on the high ratings and reviews. Sadly to say, I was not impressed…
We arrived at 7pm for our reservation and was seated promptly. After seating it took at least 3 or 4 mins before we were greeted by our server. I saw that he was tending to at least 3 other tables. Our server was really nice and attentive for the most part but he forgot to put in our order :(We sat there for about 40 minutes before he came out and apologized saying he had forgotten to ring it in. We weren’t upset or anything due to the fact that he letted us know so we aren’t kept wondering why our food is taking so long. He even offered us some dessert on the house which was great. It helped that we had our bottle of wine and each other to keep company but our stomachs were growling.
The 3 star rating isn’t for the service because mistakes happen. It’s for the food. We both got the rib eye steak and it was lacking so much flavor I barely even finished half. My favorite of the whole dish was probably the baked cheddar and chive potato. The dessert which was berries and cream is not even worth mentioning. The berries did not even seem fresh. I left pretty disappointed. :(
