Always helpful and has good pricing unlike other prospecting stores. Will continue to do business with them.

After reading a few reviews from other sites, I decided to drop by and visit the guys at Petersen’s for some hands on advise about metal detectors and the hobby in general. Upon arriving I found ample parking on the south side of the location (their lot is shared with a mattress store).
The location has a security door that requires an employee to buzz you in, (don’t feel intimidated) if they are not in sight, just ring the door bell and they’ll appear in seconds. The store front is a good size with areas decorated in a rustic gold rush/​mining theme, sporting a decent inventory of all things associated with metal detecting.
I was greeted by Donnie who had a pleasant and welcoming demeanor. I introduced myself and asked for advice about taking up the hobby. Donnie took time to ask and answer a few great questions that assisted with making some good fit recommendations. I was able to play with a few detectors and learn about a few accessories.
I was impressed as Donnie didn’t attempt to sell me anything upfront instead, he made sure I had all the information necessary to make a sound decision (no pressure to buy). After getting some hands on time with a few different models, I was able to made a decision and worked with Donnie to put together a great starter kit.
I decided on a Whites unit along with a few great accessories. Choosing the accessories was easy with Donnie’s help as he shared a few personal experiences and some best practices as well. Within an hour, I was happy and confident about my purchase. Donnie put my detector together and even bench tested it to ensure all was working perfect. I was thanked for my business and even offered a 10 day return if I was not completely happy with the items.
A note on pricing, you will find the same prices almost everywhere on these units as they are sold through dealers (mush like Apple); however, know that price matching will be honored if you know of a cheaper price. I mentioned to Donnie that I had seen one of the items at a lower cost online which he matched without question.
I felt well served by Donnie because I believe he listened and asked questions instead of just attempting to make a sale. These guys love the hobby and it shows through the stories they share. I will definitely continue doing business at Pedersen’s in the future. Great customer service with a friendly, knowledgable, and hands on experienced staff.
