If you’re flying out of SCE, get here a little early for breakfast at Irving’s. The café is outside security, so plan accordingly. The breakfast special — egg, bacon and cheese on a toasted bagel — easily satisfied my craving for a robust breakfast. I was suspicious at first, as I’m picky about my bagels and always leery of being served a foodservice quality hockey puck — especially at airports. However, my friendly and efficient counter clerk, who also happened to be the barista and chef, assured me that the bagels are freshly made every morning. She was right, the bagel was excellent — nicely toasted and perfectly buttered. A generous portion of bacon, melted cheese and a hot fried egg filled this delicious sandwich. Pop your cholesterol pills and enjoy. Piping hot café Americano makes a good complement to the sandwich. Irving’s at the airport is a one person show, so it’s not the place to go if you’re madly rushing to catch your flight.

Irving’s at the airport is a mix of a café, a bar, and a gift shop. Like what as been said, this is the ONLY place to eat at the airport. As to be expected the prices are high and the choices are limited, but they have alcohol and that can make all the difference. The Baja Chicken Club is decent considering the easy bake oven style kitchen they have. If you are in a rush and absolutely cannot get some food before you get to the airport, this place likely won’t kill you. However, if you’re that rushed, you probably don’t have time to wait for food anyway.

It’s the only place available in the airport for pretty much anything. The egg sandwich breakfast special I had was alright I’ve certainly had much worse but I have also had much better. It’s also not the cheapest egg sandwich. The service is subpar, you get your food when… You get your food. The guy working there this morning had a huge chip on his shoulder. A simple hello or acknowledgement would have been a nice precursor to taking my order. What topped off my experience was when the dude came out from behind the counter to scream and yell at a young traveler who used his creamer but didn’t buy coffee at his establishment. While I don’t necessarily disagree with the dude that sugar and creamer is for paying customers I think that he probably could have handled it in a much more professional manner. Another option for preventing this is simply placing a sign on the sugar and creamer stating that it is for paying customers only. I may or may not grab a quick early morning bite here again or I may just wait until I get to my destination.

At University Park Airport, you’re kind of limited to place to eat and kill some time. Because this airport is so damn small, there is just one spot, and that spot is Irving’s. Here at Irving’s airport location, you can get miscellaneous things like Penn State apparel, snacks, coffee, and some actual food. Being that I’m always here in the AM, I always end up getting their breakfast bagel. For around $ 4, you get a bagel with egg and sausage. Not a bad way to start the day in my opinion. If that’s not your cup of tea, well then there are packaged snacks and chips for you to munch on. Irving’s selection of coffee here is pretty bare, but I’ll really take what I can get. Not much more to say aside from that this is the only place to get food and stuff at the University Park Airport. I suggest hanging out around here as opposed to the gate, because once you go through security, you cannot come back out. At least at Irving’s, you can kill some time browsing their random trinkets.

this is the only eatery at the airport, so 3 stars for being there and offering a food option. this is an extension of the Irving’s Bagels on College Ave but with limited offerings. slow service but decent enough for a bagel and coffee.
