Dart Beverage Center

Kind of torn. It is a great shop, good selection, easy to get to. Plenty of parking. It has one problem, waaaay over priced. Just go to Safeway or BevMo. Only reason you should go here is if staying and the Lakeside inn and need smokes or booze. Do have a good selection though.

I expe ted this to be your normal package store. When i walked in I found a great selection of microbrews.

This place has a great selection of beer wine and liquor. Everything from locals to imports. High end liquors to cheap mixers and a good selection of local wine. Prices were very fair. If you are visiting the South Tahoe area by heavenly this is a good place to get some drinks for your stay

They have everything you née as far as liquor, beer, mixers, snacks, etc. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful! I was impressed with the selection.

Best craft beer selection I’ve ever seen. IPA galore and epic customer service. Fernando was super knowledgable and helpful. So helpful we ended leaving with two boxes of hoppy goodness.

Back in the day this use to be the go to place to buy alcohol. It was worth the drive to Nevada to be able to save on your bill. Slowly over the years the pricing caught up with California but it was still a good place to go for a wide selection of beverages. Fast forward to about four years ago, new ownership and extremely limited inventory. Hence, I avoided this place. Had the pleasure of visiting Dart again today and was pleasantly surprised by the remodel, a huge walk-​in beer igloo and a beer tasting bar. I believe I heard that it changed ownership this past July. Nice staff but pricing is a bit high.

If you are from the SF bay area, like me, you are probably used to great bottle shops and beer selection within constant reach. The coolest thing about DART to me was that being in Nevada (just across the Stateline border) you are going to see things here you would never see in California, due to distribution and whatnot. That goes for everything, including snack foods. Other than that, they just have everything you could want or need from a «Beverage Center». Better than Bevmo by a mile because they also sell tobacco, knick knacks, snacks galore, high end deli stuff, lottery etc. I love coming here when I am in Tahoe, even if it is just to buy a couple tall cans, a rare can of IPA and some snacks. The counter person is always friendly too, in my experience.

Huge selection of beers!
Not too often you get to shop and buy only 1 bottle if you choose. This place has a big selection then you look around and there’s more over in the corner! Kind of a tease that they have a tasting area that has several taps that could be used but for some reason does not work. Not sure what’s up there.
For sure I will be stopping by next time I come to Tahoe!

I was very impressed with the beer selection. They have a very good selection of canned beer which was what I was looking for. The people working there were also very nice and helpful.

I am sure I broke the local noise ordnance when I slammed on my breaks and hauled ass over to Dart Beverage. What was it you say that led me to be a breaker of the law? T’was the advertisement proclaiming that the world’s largest igloo beer cave existed within its four walls. I came, I saw, I bought a Mt. Dew.

Well well, what an unexpected gem. My friends and I are regular Tahoe drinkers and we decided to check out «the worlds largest beer igloo» That wasn’t very cool but it felt good on a hot day. I don’t know why they play that up do much when the rest of their store if so much better. They had tons of specialty beers and liquors that BevMo never carries. It was hard not to spend all our money in there. They had a sweet picture of Kramer from Seinfeld on the wall and they guy said «everything if for sale» which we though was amusing and a great business strategy. We will definitely make this a regular stop when visiting SLT from now on!

I am very picky about beer selections so I am probably a harsher judge than many when it comes to liquor stores. I wish Dart, like so many others, had a more local selection and more hard to find beers. Other than that, the selection is good. You can find any of the beers that are good and fairly common here as well as a few other extras. The store is large and seemed to have tons of other options if you are not a beer person. The wine and liquor seemed to be plentiful although that is something I didn’t take a look at. They also have a growler filling area and they will fill any type of growler, which I think is fantastic.

Pretty good selection, and nice folks work there. I thought the prices were also reasonable.
I did want to buy mad dog 20/​20, but they didn’t have any, however the cashier was very helpful helping me look.

Came in a few days ago to buy a bottle of champagne.
This place is much improved since the new owners took over.
I’m a Tequila drinker so I was checking the prices and compared them to BEVMO.
The prices were equal to and a couple of times slightly lower.

Nice selection of beers. We stopped by last weekend when we were staying in Tahoe. I picked up three different 22’s. They had a 25 percent off sale which caught our eye.
It seems they have a small tasting area but we didn’t try since we had plans.
The only negative was the guy behind the counter who seemed annoyed when I asked him if they had a particular beer.
Overall, it was good. we would go back again…

Before I popped over to Dart, I was pretty bummed out about the craft beer bottle selection in South Lake Tahoe. But, the moment I walked in… I knew I had found my new spot! In addition to the big ol’ beer cave for 24 packs and kegs, they’ve got an AMPLE selection of single bottles, bombers, and even a growler fill station. Every time I’ve gone, they’ve helped me find little unique extras to pick up. Super knowledgeable staff about wine, beer, and liquor. They’re really doing a great job of making sure you get the right thing for your tastes and needs.
Overall, completely impressed and I’ll be a frequent visitor (scratch that… I am already!). If you’re looking for a fantastic craft beer and wine selection, don’t bother stopping anywhere else.

I received a message from the manager, which cleared things up for me, Dart is NOT a discount store anymore. It has been turned around into a full service high quality beverage center. I Appreciate the care of customer contact. Here is their brief, quite interesting history, which I feel is important to share!
PS I would love it if the prices were lower, but I understand times have changed. Besides, the entire staff is excellent !
Mke M: Thank you for the kind message regarding Dart Beverage Center in Lake Tahoe. I just wanted to make you aware that we purchased Dart Discount Liquor out of bankruptcy several years ago and in studying the reasons for its bankruptcy we discovered that the «discount» liquor environment in Nevada has completely changed in the last several years. The previous owners tried to hand on to the Discount concept, but the prices in NV are no longer as competitive as they used to be, so it is very difficult for non national stores operating in NV to compete on a discount level.
So we purchased the store and renamed it DART BEVERAGE CENTER. The discount name and concept has been removed and now we try to offer better service, multiple tastings a week and a huge variety of craft and specialty products. We’ve also completely remodeled the store with an eye toward more upscale flooring, façade and racking.

Dart has some of the friendliest employees in the area. They have wide selection of adult beverages, and good choice of snacks, mixers and mineral waters plus energy drinks galore. Very knowledgeable staff. They also have a nice case of ice cream, some variety of cheese, and miscellaneous household essentials mostly for tourists I guess. Good prices on Nevada side of the south Lake.

I LOVE Dart Beverage! This is one of my first stops whenever I arrive in South Lake Tahoe (for obvious reasons). It’s like a big candy store, but with booze!! – and so much more, as previous reviewers have noted.
While I was in this past weekend I was in search for one of my favorite beers, Anderson Valley Summer Solstice. Yes, I know what season this. But I was previously able to find it here in late September. The staff member (do not recall his name) stated they didn’t have Summer in, but THRY did have Winter Solstice on tap. He said this more than a few times. I thought to myself, why would I want to drink a good beer here in the store and not be able to take it back to my room?
Suddenly the gentleman had to help out with some things up at the register, so had another guy come and help né out. After helping me browse through several beers I hasn’t really heard of, he recommended, «If you plan on drinking it tonight, you can always buy a growler»… A WHAT-​err?
We walked over to their little «bar» area where they showcase several different beers… on tap. After tasting a few, I decided on the Winter Solstice for sure. I fell in love with the idea of having a 64oz growler filled with this creamy, decadent beer! Plus, it’s now a souvenir I can bring back to Dart’s anytime for a refill. GREAT idea!
In typical Tahoe fashion, the staff is nice to work with… And once you get the vibes going you start to hit it off and feel like new friends. Can’t wait to visit again on my next trip to south shore!

We have been coming to South Lake for years and there is a reason this place is still around. Service and variety of products. You would think the entry and exit would be a bummer but it is not too bad.
The place is clean and well stocked-​ALWAYS. They also offer gift certificates which is cool when you have no clue what kind of wine a wino likes hehehe.
Have some fun grab some friends and head to the igloo for some beer.
