Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Lake Tahoe

Really enjoyed the hard rock oyster bar!!! The shooters were great! We’ve been here a few time !! Also we’ve tried raw oysters, gumbo, chepino, bass

Really? We show up and are told by the surly woman at the front that the pool is closed. I feel like that should have been mentioned before spending 300 bucks a night here. Then we go to one of the overpriced bars in the lobby and feel very unwelcomed there too. Is there something wrong here causing the employees to be so miserable??? I live in Vegas and the hard rock there is a COMPLETELY opposite experience. Don’t expect much. Better off at the motel 6 down the road. At least they have a pool.

To start the check in staff was the worst! I was told no pool is closed? By the way no mention of this in any of info from the hotel? I was told by the shitty front of house well we don’t mention having a pool but yes we don’t mention not having one either? I’m from Vegas been at several of the properties this is by far the worst representation of the already struggling brand! I’m sure the Tahoe property will soon be closed! If I could rate it a zero I would!
So I’m adding something some of the employees know how incredibly bad the hotel is and are so bummed but they do what they can this is a travesty to the brand!!!

Super disappointed. The lamps in our room didn’t even work?! I will not be staying at this hotel ever again. Which is a bummer since I come up to stay at the lake about once a month.

Great looking hotel from thr outside. From the inside it was very nicecand clean and does not smell like smoke compared to harrahs and harveys. The front desk customer service could be improved. Overall, we were pretty satisfied with our stay, but wishef the pool area was open.

My husband and I were there to watch San Jose Sharks game in May, 2016 (for those of you who do not follow National Hockey League in USA, it was an enormous deal because #1. SJ Sharks was real close to make it to the Stanley Cups. #2. Stanley Cups in NHL is equivalent to a Super Bowl in NFL thus just as important as Super Bowl.
#3. Sharks has never made it to the Stanly Cup in History!!!
I have to point out that it was before the Stanley Cups when we went there, but I was in a shock because the entire casino did not have the Sharks game on TV!!!
I hope they have an idea how many Bay Area people actually go there and stay for mini vacation!!!
Plus, it took me more than 20 minutes just to get a glass of wine at the bar that is located inside of the casino floor!
On the top of that, a bartender was very unfriendly and sort of rude,
Additionally, Yes I did stay there one time when my sister who loves the rock music.
I loved the room and all of the hard rock music atmosphere, but don’t expect to get a superior customer service nor Sharks game on TV!!!

Gah, checked into this dump for $ 800 for 3 nights during the Rock Tahoe ½ Marathon. Dated, no pool, no frig or coffee maker. Ice machines exist on every other floor, so not mine. No view for us to make any of this right. No vanity light in the BR. No house keeping today :(, they just didn’t come. I won’t be back and I recommend you don’t come either.

Wish I had checked Unilocal reviews before reserving room here. Sons soccer team chose the hotel so I just made a reservation. Worst hotel experience I can remember. Check in wait was 1 hour for us. Line was three times as long after we registered. Front desk person was chatting with co worker about what she would do this weekend as she checked us in — while 50 people were in line behind us. No sense of urgency whatsoever.
Went up wrong elevator because front desk person didn’t give good directions. Finally got to room to find that vanity lights don’t work. Called housekeeping who said room was getting ready to be renovated that’s why lights don’t work. I asked why we were given a room where lights don’t work and response was «I don’t know — the front desk assigns the rooms.» I asked to be transferred to front desk. Was transferred to wrong department. Was put on hold. I finally hung up.
The elevators in the Sunset tower are extremely slow and lights don’t work so you don’t know if elevator is coming. While on one elevator ride, others guests got off two floors before mine. The doors closed but elevator wouldn’t move. I thought I was trapped. I was able to pull the doors open. Got off elevator and told staff member what happened. She didn’t seem to do anything — directed other guests to their room and walked away. I took the stairs up the last two floors.
I will say valet and bell hop were very nice and professional. Just seems like management doesn’t know how to run a hotel but have a few good employees in spite of themselves.

It is very unfortunate that I have to give two stars to this place. What would be an otherwise fairly decent hotel has been ruined by lack of routine maintenance and staff that could, frankly, just not give a $h!t. Upon first arrival, the woman at the front desk seemed to hate life. That’s okay. I won’t deal with her again right? Then she tells me … Oh by the way the pool isn’t working. Booooo!!! Life hater ! But … She gives us passes to a nearby private beach. Okay, I can deal with that .
So, we walk up to our room to find that there is still a huge mess in the room and it hasn’t been cleaned. I call down to the service desk to tell them and the same lady tells me that the room is cleaned and has been inspected. Hmmm. Apparently not. She says she’ll call housekeeping. After waiting for 20 minutes, no one shows. So I walk down to the front desk to tell them again that the room is dirty. They tell me housekeeping has been called. We request another room. Fine … I’ll let that slide. On the way back up to the room I notice only one of the four elevators are working. That could be an issue on check out day. We get to our new room and everything appears to be okay. The room is nice enough and there is a pretty view of the mountains and golf course .
Throughout the day, we began noticing that the toilet was leaking. I again called the service desk to let them know. They say they’ll send some one. But again, no one shows.
The following day I go to put my face on… And I find that the vanity lights do not work. There is a small hand held mirror on the counter that says the vanity lights are not working and the mirror has been provided instead. I try and turn the lights on on the handheld mirror and it’s dimmer than the bathroom light. Not cool.
Overall, Hardrock is a traditional place that has a lot of history behind it and a lot of potential. If these people could get it together, it would be one of the nicer casinos to stay at.

Upon entering the hotel, the smoke immediately annoyed me. The lobby was tiny and unimpressive. The décor was nice, and updated as compared to the older surrounding hotels. We checked in with no issues, and were on our way up to our room to freshen up to enjoy the rest of the day.
When we entered the room, we were actually pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. It looked like they recently remodeled the hotel. One thing that was a disappointment was the it was FREEZING in the room. I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m comfortable with jeans and a short sleeve top at about 72 degrees. Our room was at 64 when we entered. So, I switched the heat on and turned up the thermostat at 75 to heat it up quickly. We decided to start our evening and headed out.
The hard rock is definitely the most up to date of all the hotels nearby, so we were glad we booked there. The casino was very lively. We ate dinner at there restaurant Park Prime. This was the best part! Everything was delicious. My husband and I went there with another couple so we order 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 3 desserts to share between all of us. The service in the entire place was great!
When we finally went back to our room at the end of the night this was when my disappointment really kicked in. Our room was still cold for me. Even though I left the thermostat at 75, when we got back to the room, it still was at 67. So, I called guest services, and asked them if maybe I was operating the thermostat incorrectly. The lady explained that they had a closed loop hvac system. Which means the whole building is either on cool mode or on heat mode. The lady explained to me that the heat mode does not switch on till outside hits 50 degrees! What!?! I don’t know about others, but I’m a California girl, and my comfortable temp is in the 70’s. That’s what we keep our house at at all times. So… I give the restaurant a 5 star, the hotel décor a 4, and there hvac system a 1 star. Oh, one more thing. The rooms do not have blow dryers, so be sure to bring your own. If you are a polar bear, or an Eskimo and like your temp around the 60’s, then I definitely recommend. I myself would stay here again, but would make sure I bring sweats and a thick sweater.

Wow. Don’t even think about playing a machine here… They are the lowest paying machines I have ever played in my entire life!
We Played video poker for two hours and never saw a four of a kind! And only a couple of full houses… Just piss poor!
The place is way too loud, almost impossible to talk unless you read lips.

The potato skins were sub par!. a tad skimpy and they seemed like old hopper food. The bacon on them was old and hard and hurt my teeth! The calamari was weird little rubbery chewy chunks served in a cone thing. I would give them a D+ or C– (slightly below average) not oily or they be an F.
The guy next to us ordered a pizza. He ate one piece and told the bartender it was crap! He did not pay for it and we watched the bar tender trash it. It looked like it had zero pizza sauce on it. Too many great restaurants around to eat here ever again!

We booked our rooms at Hard Rock Hotel because they provided rooms at a cheaper rate compared to Harvey’s and Harrah’s. The proximity to Heavenly’s didn’t matter to us because we knew we would be driving every where. It’s definitely walkable to Harrah’s and Harvey’s. It’s a slightly longer walk to Heavenly’s. I usually forget that after you arrive at your destination, there’s more walking inside a hotel or in the shopping center. So, I usually underestimate the distance. In this case, it didn’t matter as there was minimal walking involved.
Our room was on the 7^th floor of the Sunset Tower. There are a total of 8 floors and the Sunset Tower is the further of the two towers from the lobby. It was actually perfectly situated. If you park at the outside lot for oversized parking, you have direct access to the tower without crossing any lobbies or casino. When we went, only 1 of the the 2 elevators seemed to be in operation. It was helpful that we were on the 7^th floor. Many times, other guests from third to sixth floor have to wait for the next elevator. Our elevators would typically make stops on every floor and it’s always full. Some people just take the stairs but I can see how that can be annoying to those guests.
advertised 24 hour check in. We arrived at 7 pm on Memorial Day weekend. Their lobby indicates that check-​in time is at 4 pm. Neverthless, we needed a room with 2 queen size beds and they were overbooked so we had to wait an extra 30 – 45 minutes for our room. It’s been a decade since I’ve been around smokers. No one at home or work smokes and I never knew how terribly allergic I am to smoke. Even though I hadn’t entered the casino for the first hour of my stay, my nose reacted to the heavy smell of smoke in the hotel lobby. Others who entered from the valet parking commented the same thing. So, I know I’m not being over-​sensitive.
Fortunately, our floor or our tower is non-​smoking. I stayed far away from the lobby and casino and I was able to breathe! It’s almost as if I didn’t stay at a casino hotel. We had our own entrance to the hotel tower. The only place we dined at was a the corner of the casino so it didn’t bother me during the rest of my stay.
When we arrived to our room, even though we indicated that we have 4 adults, there were only 2 sets of towels. It took 3 calls to housekeeping before we received extra towels. Each time we called, the person who picked up was in mid-​laughter. It makes me wonder if they were having so much fun that they forget to deliver our towels. It’s nice to see that they are enjoying their jobs, but give me my towels! I also saw a guest asking front desk receptionist for a bag of ice. Where are the housekeepers?
My father, the only gambler of the party, enjoyed gambling at Hard Rock compared to the nearby casinos. He said the service was good and there were more gamblers. I have passed by nearby casinos and Harrah’s looked a bit dated to me from the short few minutes that I passed by, and Harvey’s looked like a ghost town.

Reservations/​Front Desk desk sucks!
Made a reservation online, finished making payment and showed up at 7 pm (checkin time is 4 pm), stayed in queue for 30 minutes to find that room is not ready (Because facilities messed up). Came back at 10 pm after finishing lunch and joined the queue again. Got my room card but it was having wrong room number. Contacted my friend in the same hotel to help me call customer service, waited another 15 minutes before someone showed up with right room keys. Finally got my room ready at 11:15 pm, which should have happened at 4:00 pm. What a screwed up hotel with messed up management.
The bell boyz and valet parking was awesome. I appreciated their work and tipped them well. As far as I know, I not showing up at this shitty place again. Damn you Hard Rock Hotel!

I really wanted to like this place. Since I’ve stayed and dined in other Hard Rock Hotels (Vegas, San Diego) and having dined here at the Fire Break a couple times previously, I was really looking forward to our stay in our Sunset Tower View Room #879.
Check-​in and valet were good, but there was some confusion with the bell service and our bags so we decided to just take them ourselves, not realizing our room was in a tower that was a good walk from the front desk. No worries. We’re pretty fit folk.
Our room was modern and quaint, but upon entry, it felt like it was still under construction. The lights in the bathroom didn’t work, the fan was non-​existent there was no: dresser, coffee maker, microwave, or fridge, the lamps were unplugged and in the middle of the floor was an «ozone machine» with a sign that said «please do not touch.» I joked to my wife that maybe someone died in the room and they were trying to get the smell out. I also don’t want to know what the «spill» on the front of the nightstand is. (See pic)
I called the front desk about the machine and the lights and they asked me to put the machine in the hall and they KNEW the lights in the bathroom DIDN’T work so they gave us a $ 10 food credit. VERY generous. (Sarcasm there.)
When we met up with the rest of our party, (12 other couples staying here) we found that our room was not the only one with issues. From missing knobs and doors on cabinets, to crooked toilets and 80° rooms with heaters that wouldn’t shut off, this hotel seems to be falling apart.
Oh and I forgot, there are no ice machines… on even numbered floors… only odd floors. Yes, really. You can go to an odd floor or pick up a small bag of ice from the front desk… if they have any left.
You are the HARD ROCK HOTEL, start acting like it!

Place is super tight on slots. If you are a slot player avoid this place. Not a single bonus in 2 hrs we were here.
Sad because this is the nicest casino in Tahoe by far.

After checkin in on Friday night the rain started, then the snow great .You would think until i walked out of our room to find a 55 Gal garbage can catching the water from a roof leak, the leak wasn’t new? See the photos. Have you ever herd the word MOLD !!!
Then on Saturday the can disappeared just like the rain, but from the ponding on the lower roofs that i could see I’m sure this wasn’t the only leak .
Not sure how but i never once saw anyone hit a jackpot in the Slot area the machines were tight .
The pit bosses were terrible about tracking our players cards we had to ask several times ever time we sat at a table game before they would stop by and start tracking .
Pool and hot tube are still out of service

So in ending Thanks to the staff for the great job they do and i hope that the upper management can loosen there wallets to keep this place open by getting the necessary repairs done, and realize they are not the only hotel and casino up there.

2 Stars is appropriate. Stayed in a King Suite. The room is renovated but the renovation is more like a bandaid on and old worn out structure. No fridge or microwave and you have to stand in line at the registration desk just to get some ice. Housekeeping is horrible here. Just make the bed and throw down some towels and done. They didn’t bother picking up dirty glasses or restocking the coffee. Then they woke us up by being so loud cleaning the rooms around ours… everyday! Seem more like they were guests partying than just doing their job. Asked the housekeepers in the next room to please make ours up, as we were stepping out for a few hours, they said they would be happy too. They didn’t touch it, we had to call down just to get fresh towels brought up. Horrible house keeping!
Suggestions: replace your housekeeping staff with some that will do their job and treat guests with respect, not lazy staff that could care less about the guests. Put ice machines in on every floor. Train wait staff on the casino floor to bring you the drink you ordered (it took three times just to get one drink).
Not a good experience, we will go to Harrahs or Harvey’s on our next visit.

Major traffic on Highway 50 the day we were supposed to returned home. It snowed all night and continued in the morning. It took us 2 hours to go just 2 miles so we decided to find a place to stay. We booked Hard Rock Hotel and Casino last minute on
for about $ 130 including the taxes and fees. The room we selected had 2 queen sized beds with the usual closet, bathroom, shower, tv, drawers, and tables. I was there with a bunch of friends so we decided to book 2 rooms. The front desk staff member was polite and even placed us in two rooms together.
The lobby is decorated with memorabilia from different artists. They have guitars, clothes, pictures, etc. It’s very pleasant to see these items throughout the hotel. They also have a set of drums, jukebox, and Michael Jackson’s glove (I think).
I didn’t gamble so I am not sure how the layout is for the casino. We did eat at The Oyster Bar which is located in this hotel. You can read my review for The Oyster Bar if you like.
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino had rooms available for us when it was last minute. So that was a big plus.

Well, it’s been over a year since my last visit here. We sort of ended up here by chance as our other dining plans didn’t work out and I haven been in here in a long time. Pulling in from the NV side Highway 50, the parking for self park is a bit confusing, as most of the lanes are dedicated to Valet parking. We do find the entrance to the parking structure … gee, glad I don’t have a real tall car, this ceiling is low! The first 2 floors are for Valet, as we circle higher, I notice these lanes are very narrow, especially with oncoming traffic. Lesson, if you have a big car to truck, park outside in the rear of the hotel!
So we go in… yep pretty much like most casinos, at least this one has all the live table games available. The one big thing I notice right away is the super loud music playing over the loud speakers. Hard rock stuff, so goes the name of the casino. There’s a big bar with mad blue lighting, an oyster bar with people slurping up raw oysters and there we go, the Fire Break Kitchen and Bar. We head in there for food. That ‘ll be a separate review.
Walking about there’s a lot of rock memorabilia, many autographed guitars and stage outfits, even Michael Jackson’s shiny glove! Before eating at the Fire Break, I just had to test out the raw oysters at the Oyster Bar restaurant. This is a mid sized hotel casino, compared to the floor space of the larger properties in Reno and much smaller than anything on the Vegas strip. The hotel is not really that expensive, as the rates go up and down depending on demand.
This was an OK, little excursion, but not sure after sampling the restaurants that I’d really make a point to come back here.

We knew it just had open up a few months prior so we decided to come here to check out the place and also check out the food. We didn’t stay here but we did walk around to scope the place out and grabbed a bite. They have 5 places to choose from to eat. The oyster bar, fuel, center bar, prime park and fire break kitchen and bar.
Nothing was open for dinner yet so we went to The Oyster Bar is where we settled on to have a bite at. They were really busy, so we had to wait a little bit for seats to open up to sit down. 20 minutes later 2 seats open up for us. We were greeted by the chef and he got us drinks and menu to look over. Hubs got a dozen oysters and I got Steamed Mussels with white wine, garlic and saffron broth. The food took about 10 – 15 mins to come out to us and when it came the presentation of the plates were really beautiful. Food was really good, so good that hub ordered another dozen oysters. The staff was really nice and friendly and very tentative with us. The oyster bar is open 24 hours if you every need a bite at any time.
Décor was musician stuff from the 70s, 80s and 90s from Michael Jackson’s famous glitter glove to, beatles & stray cats memorabilia, signed stuff from Guns ‘n Roses, guitars and singers items from music videos. Seems clean enough I can’t give them more then a 3 stars considering I only ate there.
